Hi, Academic Challenger, and welcome to Wikipedia! Here are some useful links in case you haven't already found them:

Manual of Style

Hello, Academic Challenger. Great job adding all those U.S. politicians. As you proceed, I would recommend taking a look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies) for tips on how to format the articles. Specifially, the name of the person should be in bold (using three single-quotes: ) and the person's date of birth should go in parentheses right after the name. Keep up the great work! --Minesweeper 04:47, 22 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Style note

Just a minor thing - you are doing XXX (born) Sektober 1 2525, when it should be XXX (born Sektober 1, 2525), ie with the brackets covering the date also. I only mention this as you are doing good work and this seems to be a persistent thing... Morwen 09:02, 27 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Democrats and Republicans

Just a note: The pages Democratic Party and Republican Party are disambiguation pages, so they should not be linked to in articles that refer specifically to the United States Democratic Party and United States Republican Party. Also, a democrat is not the same thing as a Democrat and a republican is not the same as a Republican. When refering to a member of the political party, you should capitalize the name to make this distinction more clear. Thanks, Minesweeper 12:05, Jan 3, 2004 (UTC)

Adminship

Hi. I saw your request for adminship. After looking at your edit history, I realized that your edit count is low largely because so many of your edits are starting new pages instead of making small changes to existing articles. In fact, you're doing great work as a contributor - I noticed that we didn't have an article on my state's governor until you wrote one. I think you've been around long enough to be trusted not to intentionally abuse adminship.

However, I'm not sure why you want adminship. I suspect that you're applying because you're under the imression that adminship is some sort of "senior editor" position. That's not really true. Admin powers are used for Wikipedia housekeeping - things like fighting vandals, maintaining the Wikipedia:Votes for deletion page, and stopping edit wars. You're doing good work as a contributor, but you haven't shown any interest at all in housekeeping. Unless you're going to start doing those things now, you won't get any advantage from being an admin. Also, I'm a little worried that if you did start using your power, you wouldn't know how to use them properly since you haven't been involved in admin-type work before. I suggest just continuing the good work you're doing.

If you are still interested in adminship after reading the above, let me know why on my talk page and I'll consider supporting your nomination. Isomorphic 10:07, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)

I understand. We all put a lot of time and effort into this site, and it's nice to have people recognize your efforts. Don't feel like you have to become an admin to be recognized, or start doing housekeeping duties. Keep writing good material, and people notice. We need people who actually write content as well as people who maintain the site. Happy editing, Isomorphic 22:31, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)

re: administrator

AC, please continue your fine work on wikipedia. you are a valued member of this community. please consider again in a few months applying again to be an administrator. Sincerely, Kingturtle 05:42, 17 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Barnstar

Hi there. In recognition of the huge amount of work you've done improving Wikipedia's coverage of political figures, I've awarded you a barnstar. I also took the liberty of formatting your user page a bit to make it easier to read. Glad to have you here, and I hope you continue your excellent contributions. Isomorphic 03:58, 15 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Categorisation

Have you any thoughts on how to categorise all our lists of politicians? I've created Category:Election results but this doesn't seem quite the right place for lists of links to biographies. Any ideas? Secretlondon 02:49, 16 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Yes, indeed! Best wishes and I hope that all goes well for you over the next few weeks. I don't think we've ever interacted, but I've noticed your contributions and you've been a great editor. I hope to see you around the wiki soon. BCorr|Брайен 11:50, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hi, Academic Challenger.

I've noticed the great work you do on many articles around here, and wanted to take a moment and thank you. I also want to know if you'd be interested in being nominated for adminship. I think you'd do a good job, and if you want me to, I'll be happy to nominate you. Neutrality (talk) 21:03, 2 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for calling attention to Brock Adams by adding him to recent deaths....as a Washingtonian, I feel badly that I haven't contributed anything on him yet. And thanks doubly for fixing my redirect -- I always forget where articles should go when one name is better known than the "correct" one. Good luck in your candidacy for admin, and keep up the excellent work. Jwrosenzweig 22:28, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I guess I have to correct myself -- congratulations on becoming an administrator! :-) Best wishes to you in your new role -- hopefully it won't take much time away from your excellent efforts adding content and editing articles. Jwrosenzweig 23:02, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

You're a Sysop!

I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. Congratulations! You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful. Cheers! -- Cecropia | Talk 23:01, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Blogwar

I didn't raise the delete against blogwar, but I note that case 3 of speedy deletions is vandalism including spam ... and I'd opine that this entry is just that: self-promotional spam. That being the case, your "not a speedy" may not in fact be correct. --Tagishsimon (talk)

Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

RFC pages on VfD

Should RFC pages be placed on VfD to be deleted? I'm considering removing Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Slrubenstein, Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Jwrosenzweig and Wikipedia:Requests for comment/John Kenney from WP:VFD. Each of them was listed by CheeseDreams. Your comments on whether I should do this would be appreciated. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:14, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Controversy

I have been involved in many controversies because I have been attempting to sort out controversial pages with controversial users. I have not been causing the controversy (except in this instance). I don't feel I need a break, though I appreciate your concern for my wikistress. - Ta bu shi da yu 06:22, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Remember to "test"

Just a reminder to leave "test" template-based notes on the pages of vandals, no matter how petty their crime. Usually one gentle nudge is enough to get them to stop, but without the nudge, they'll just continue on, thinking they went unnoticed. -- user:zanimum

I think this WikiProject is going to be really helpful, so I would like to restart it. I think this is a really good idea. We can also get some other people to participate in this project. --Lst27 (talk) 20:57, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)

  • Salve, Academic Challenger!
I signed up for it some time ago because I'm interested in goverment and have a b.a. in poli sci. I did create a number of articles on politicians that interested me--see User:PedanticallySpeaking/Articles#Government.2C_Political_Science for some of my work. I've not been as active as I had been but certainly the project is a good one. Another user you might contact is User:Acsenray, who has done much work on Ohio's politicians.
As you can see, Ohio has been my emphasis. Let me know some Ohioans who need articles and I'll see what I can do. Ave! PedanticallySpeaking 14:20, Jan 15, 2005 (UTC)

I'm willing to participate, but it may be in name only as I don't expect to make a commitment beyond what I am already doing (mainly adding bioguide images for senators and for representatives who have them in the last couple of weeks). Ground 01:39, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Signpost

Thanks, it would be wonderful to have you write some articles. If you want to write about press coverage and/or requests for adminship, that would be great. For the time being, I think I'll handle arbitration case updates myself, as that's a subject I particularly focus on, although if I get personally involved in the process itself then I'll definitely let someone else take over.

If you write something about the results of the speedy deletion poll, one thing that would be interesting to know is whether it's caused any real change in how people handle speedy deletions. Also, if you encounter any other subjects in your Wikipedia activity that you think would be newsworthy for the community in general, you're welcome to write about those or pass the information along to me.

If you can let me know what you've been working on by sometime this weekend, I'll look it over and add it to the next issue. Thanks for volunteering to help. --Michael Snow 18:18, 18 Jan 2005 (UTC)

The other reporters and I have been putting things on our user subpages; just let me know which subpages those are, and once everything's ready (after any last-minute edits and such), I'll move them into the Wikipedia namespace for publication, so to speak. --Michael Snow 02:26, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC)

An idea for the article about press coverage: It appears that the Republic of China has announced a "Taiwan Encyclopedia" that is going to be edited somewhat like Wikipedia (here's the article). While the story only mentions Wikipedia once, since they're explicitly adopting us as a model, it could be an interesting story to talk about, such as what they plan to imitate and what they plan to do that's different. --Michael Snow 06:28, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, I probably won't get around to editing them for another 24 hours or so, but I'll let you know when I've finished that. I'm probably going to break up the press coverage piece just a little; I think we can do a separate article on Jimbo's nomination for the Wired Rave Awards. --Michael Snow 01:28, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)
My edits are all finished and the articles were included in the third issue. I mixed the RfA article into a combined "News and notes" column that also covered new featured articles and pictures.
If you see any problems with the articles, feel free to fix them even after publication, of course. Also, thanks very much for your contributions. Your help made my work a little easier, and I look forward to seeing more articles from you in the future. --Michael Snow 17:12, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)

boobed?

Hi, I'm contacting you as a random administrator to ask you to check something. Last night I moved the article which is now at Medieval German Literature. I did use the move button, I thought correctly, but somewhere along the way the history has been lost. And the discussion, but that is no problem, since I was the only one who had written there. The odd thing is that in my contributions list the move is indicated twice. No idea what I've done - obviously boobed. Or the programme glitched at the moment I did it. Anyway, can this be corrected? --Doric Loon 20:00, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Requesting a comment about Naming Policies from fellow wikipedist

Hello and greetings
I am an student from the National University of Saint Mark in Lima, Peru, or also called UNMSM, i wish to have your personal opinion about the naming policy of calling the university Saint Mark instead San Marcos, i am supporting Saint Mark based in the opinion of the Catholic Church (the same institution which named the university in the first place) precedent of anglicise the name.1 Article from Catholic Encyclopedia. This user called User:Viajero is trying to impose his point of view even without reach a compromise about the use of the anglicise name, by his own is destroying and modifying all articles that has the name National University of Saint Mark replacing by his point of view of the name. I am still a newcomer to wikipedia, but i dont think so i deserve to be treated this way. I wish to have your opinion about this in the following link Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#Interpretation of WP Naming_policies.Thank you to take time to read my dissertation.HappyApple 20:14, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi there this is UKNOWN USER and I would like to say that pinapple-pusher, boomshackles, wurd, frapp are all actual terms

why in fact, ironically, incidentally, whoa, i was talking to my 5TH GRADE ENGLISH MATH TEACHER by the name of Freyja, we live together, ^.^ >.< <(^.^)< >(^.^)> ^(>.<)^, and he said that they're actually terms

i'm sorry I had to delete your entire talk page to say this, but I find it a matter of utmost importancy and of dire priority, but unfortunately Wikipedia wouldn't let be an ass and delete your entire talk page

50 Bands

You deleted my article, chastised me, threatened me on my Talkpage, all before I had time to form a response and figure out where to post it. I'm not that fast with this medium yet.

It was not a subjective list that I was creating. It is an existing list put out by Q Magazine in 2002, that I was recreating. It is widely referred to in the music world. It is referrenced in the numerous existing WikiP articles about many of the bands on the list. When someone reads the article about the Rolling Stones, for example, and sees that it was on the list, the reader naturally wants to know what other WikiP pages exist on bands that were named on the list, and there are several. The page I was creating would direct them to the other existing WikiP articles about bands on the list.

Other pages already exist like the one I was creating. For example 100 Greatest Kids' TV shows, List of movies that have been considered the greatest ever, List of movies that have been considered among the worst ever. I hope you don't delete those pages too. They appear quite helpful on their topics, as mine would have been.

The page I was making was in crude form at the time you deleted it, so I can understand your confusion about what I was doing. But, the purpose of my article was not nonsense, and I don't really appreciate you calling it that. I hope you don't treat all of the newbies here like this. It is not particularly inspiring, fair, or nice.

If you have any suggestions or tips for how to go about creating a page without creating this problem or confusion in the future, I be happy to listen. Thanks. RyanKoppelman 03:49, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • Hello, Academic Challenger. One way to avoid this problem – which many of us runs across while we're still learning the ropes – is to flesh out the details of the article as best you can before submitting its initial form. For this, I find the "show preview" button to be my savior from the deletionists. :) I hope this helps! – ClockworkSoul 06:31, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • Hmm, I thought your name was too familiar to me to be having this particular problem. That'll teach me to read the signatures more closely from now on. Sorry to bug ya. :/ – ClockworkSoul 14:22, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Request for comment/help

Please consider commenting on the discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Is move page broken?. In order to avoid confusion for new users, it would seem that User:Lordpixel's suggestion is worth taking into consideration. However, it would be helpful to have an admin's opinion on this matter. Thanks! BoomHitch 06:41, Mar 23, 2005 (UTC)

I guess I was being a little bit out of line by writing that. I really was only asking why the named the country that name in what I thought was a humorous way. Anyway, if you believe that it is inappropriate then delete it. --Rentastrawberry 19:23, Apr 3, 2005 (UTC)

This is just a comment, and I still think if you believe that what I said could offend some people, then take it off. But couldn't the page List of sex positions offend some people too. --Rentastrawberry 20:12, Apr 3, 2005 (UTC)

User:24.147.39.58

You told the user 24.147.39.58, "This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page you will be blocked from editing." Well, since then he has vandalized Churro. I see that you are an admin - would you do the honor? Thanks, FreplySpang (talk) 20:51, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I don't recall that name, and I don't see anything in their history or on their Talk page. They probably share an IP address with an anon whom I did block. Did they tell you what IP address the block message indicates? RickK 22:42, Apr 15, 2005 (UTC)

Re: Bakudai

Hello, Academic Challenger. Yes, I did block him. You may have noticed that I left him a nice note thanking him for his help in reverting vandalism. Within minutes, my post was pasted onto the PWOT boards along with a note that he was "gaining our trust". I would have ignored this, but the facts that he referred to me as "Cockwork" and that my post coincided with vandalisms of my user page suggested that his intentions were not entirely honorable. Given the situation that was occuring at that Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Pointless Waste of Time, I'm sure you could understand my reactions... If you wish to unblock him, I will, of course, have no objections. – ClockworkSoul 12:55, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Well, I do patrol recent changes, but so far I was filtering the list for anons. Mikkalai 00:53, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)

history articles on wikipedia

Hello Academic Challenger, I’m an historian working at the Center for History and New Media at George Mason University (http://chnm.gmu.edu/) and we are very interested in digital historical works, including the writing of history on Wikipedia. We’d like to talk to people about their experiences working on articles in Wikipedia, in connection with a larger project on the history of the free and open source software movement. Would you be willing to talk with us about your involvement, either by phone, a/v chat, IM, or email? This could be as lengthy or brief a conversation as you wish.

rename

Hi, I was just wondering why you moved Francisco Morales Bermúdez to Francisco Morales Bermúdez Cerruti. As a general rule, we don't include the apellido matrimonial, the mother's family name, in article names for Spanish and Portuguese people. Our style guidelines are quite explicit about this; see: Wikipedia:Naming_conventions#Spanish_family_names. Do you have a compelling reason for making an exception in this case? Thanks. -- Viajero 11:02, 7 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, now I see why you may have done this: he was listed with the double family name on List of state leaders in 1980 through List of state leaders in 1980. Problem with Proposing Deletion

I spoke with you before and you were knowledgable and helpful. I thought you might be able to assist me now.

Stephan Kinsella was voted deleted Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Stephan Kinsell and was deleted. Mr. Kinsella himself has recreated the page about himself. He has bragged about it on his blog. [2] Someone linked him under "Noted" Patent attorneys. I can't figure out how to re-propose his page for deletion, because his old deletion page is locked. Assistance, please? Maybe point me in the right direction.

Dixon, Rover Boys, Stratemeyer Syndicate, Tom Swift, Jr., Tom Swift, X Bar X Boys, Edward Stratemeyer, Hardy Boys, Tom Swift IV, While the Clock Ticked, What Happened at Midnight, The Yellow Feather Mystery, The Witchmaster's Key, The Wailing Siren Mystery, The Viking Symbol Mystery, The Twisted Claw, The Tower Treasure, The Sting of the Scorpion, The Sinister Signpost, The Sign of the Crooked Arrow, The Short-Wave Mystery, The Shore Road Mystery, The Shattered Helmet, The Secret of the Old Mill, The Secret of the Lost Tunnel, The Secret of the Caves, The Secret of Wildcat Swamp, The Secret of Skull Mountain, The Secret of Pirate's Hill, The Secret Warning, The Secret Panel, The Secret Agent on Flight 101, The Phantom Freighter, The Mystery of the Whale Tattoo, The Mystery of the Spiral Bridge, The Mystery of the Flying Express, The Mystery of the Desert Giant, The Mystery of the Chinese Junk, The Mystery of the Aztec Warrior, The Mystery of Cabin Island, The Mystery at Devil's Paw, The Mysterious Caravan, The Missing Chums, The Melted Coins, The Masked Monkey, The Mark on the Door, The Jungle Pyramid, The House on the Cliff, The Hooded Hawk Mystery, The Hidden Harbor Mystery, The Haunted Fort, The Great Airport Mystery, The Ghost of Skeleton Rock, The Flickering Torch Mystery, The Firebird Rocket, The Disappearing Floor, The Crisscross Shadow, The Clue of the Screeching Owl, The Clue of the Hissing Serpent, The Clue of the Broken Blade, The Clue in the Embers, The Bombay Boomerang, The Arctic Patrol Mystery, Hunting for Hidden Gold, Footprints under the Window, Detective Handbook, Danger on Vampire Trail, A Figure in Hiding and others. This is doubly annoying as I was the originator of many of the Wikipages and my web pages provide additional in-depth information on these subjects. This has been going on for weeks. PLEASE HELP ME!--FWDixon 21:40, 12 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help!--FWDixon 11:48, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
You wrote "This is getting crazy now. I have been reverting dozens of articles, still finding them while reverting others many times. I have reverted Hunting for Hidden Gold at least 5 times in the past few minutes, and even blocked an IP for an hour. I am starting to wonder if these pages should be protected for a while. Academic Challenger 22:15, 13 August 2005 (UTC)"
I think protecting them for about 1 month would be a good idea. That vandal is completely obsessed and probably mentally ill. Another good idea would be to permanently block all his IP addresses from editing. Let me know what you think. Thanks!--FWDixon 13:54, 14 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
You wrote "We cannot really predict what the vandal will do now, after I protect the pages. Unlike most vandals who target a specific user, this vandal does not seem to vandalize your user page and talk page, and it is particularly strange because he really has not written anything at all. However, I think page protection is the best option for now."
Thanks for all your help. If you could protect all the pages about the different stories and other subsidiary pages it would go a long way to dissuade this maniac from his vandalism spree. Again, thanks to you and all the others for your help.--FWDixon 11:57, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Once again I want to thank you for all your help. Clearly this vandal is a determined sort, probably demented to boot. I firmly believe that protecting the pages in question is, sadly, the only solution and hope you can find the time to protect them. Hopefully he will get bored and go away but somehow I doubt it :(--FWDixon 22:18, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

He's back, a bit less determined this time but still a royal pain in the arse!--FWDixon 11:52, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I was wrong, he's back in full force, deleting links and accusing me of plagiarism on the talk pages of the protected pages! HELP!--FWDixon 12:44, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • You wrote "I received the other messages on my talk page and I still think that your website belongs in the articles." Thanks. This guy is really obsessed and completely out of control. I really appreciate all your help.--FWDixon 11:17, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion log

You speedily deleted Tim Wongs sexual orientation, which was created by an anon and I nominated for speedy delete. In the deletion log, it says

Academic Challenger deleted "Tim Wongs sexual orientation" (content was: 'Nonsense, bad joke, the article only has three wordsI like gerbils.' (and the only contributor was 'Commander Keane'))

Does this mean you think I created the page? I'm a little confused. --Commander Keane 08:21, August 18, 2005 (UTC)

Deletion of article in question

Looks like you deleted the article Watmm on August 12th.. might I ask why? A copy of the article is still at answers.com and I see nothing wrong with it. User:Geogre also deleted the article a day before you did, and I have posted a similar comment on his/her talk page. --Easterlingman 15:39, 19 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Just a heads up, I've listed the article on VfU. It looks like you and I both deleted it as a recreation, so Easterlingman is asking the wrong couple of admins. VfU ought to give us a forum to find out what's up with the article and see rights preserved and wrongs reversed, if there are any. Geogre 16:43, 19 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Outside view of "Vandal Vendetta"

Hi there. Fwdixon may well be a good guy and not be aware of it (his newbie mistakes make that seem likely), but his behavior does indeed amount to link spamming (in my opinion, anyway). In several instances he called "vandalism" what I would have done had I come across these articles earlier. I didn't check nearly all articles, but it's pretty obvious that the anonymous accusers have a point. Rl 15:26, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Rl. The links go back to a page with big red "buy it now" links. While there is some detailed information at the top of that page, it is not exactly neutral, either, and the links on the articles here on the wiki don't even point to that part of the page: they aim directly at the "buy it now" section. I don't know that Fwdixon is actually intending to spam, but so many links pointing to the same page looks like spamming to me. Joyous (talk) 17:45, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

Despite this, the links keep being put back and the pages are protected in a fruitless attempt to ensure they remain. There is a lot of talk about concensus but agreement that this is obvious link spamming for commercial purposes hasn't changed a thing and the plagiarism issue which is easily verified is ignored. The detailed information that the shameless plagiarist refers to below is book format info etc that he copied directly from copyrighted books.

the links on the articles here on the wiki don't even point to that part of the page: they aim directly at the "buy it now" section. If you are refering to the links from the various title pages, they point to detailed information on the title in question. If you go deeper into my site (by clicking on the title), you find even more information on the publishing history of the title. So I have some commercial links, so what? The hosting fees have to be paid. Wikipedia links to thousands of pages with commercial content, annoying Google AdSense ads and other annoying banner ads. And as far as having a NPOV, why should I? After all it's called the Hardy Boys Unofficial Home Page, not the NPOV Home Page!--FWDixon 21:26, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Whether the links are legitimate or not, the anonymous user's current behavior is totally unacceptable. He's running roughshod over the community and he doesn't give a hoot about consensus. Based on the comments he left at Talk:Stratemeyer Syndicate, I'm not certain he can even be reasoned with on this issue. I've tried talking to him; I think it will soon be time to temporarily block the IP addresses he's operating from. A few days should be enough to give us time to revert his "spammer and plagiarist" edits.
I'd offer to take him to Wikipedia:Third opinion if I thought he'd actually listen to other people's advice. --Ardonik.talk()* 15:49, August 23, 2005 (UTC)
I initially spent alot of time reverting edits which removed the links, but stopped when it simply descended into an edit war. Continous multiple anonymous edits aimed at one source really get my goat up and I believe it should be stopped. The user changes IP addresses to carry on his work, and when he doesn't have the decency to create an account and stand by his changes it is against the spirit of Wikipedia. However if I had come across the links, I too would have removed them. They are too wide spread. One link to from the main Hardy Boys page is fine, but one from every book title, which doesn't initially link to detailed information about the book is link spamming IMHO. The Hardy Boys itself article has two links to bobfinnan.com. I won't be reverting the link removal in the future - but I think the IP addresses in question should also be blocked. --PhilipO 17:10, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
but one from every book title, which doesn't initially link to detailed information about the book is link spamming But it does initially link to information on the title including release dates, author info, revision history, artist info, type of revision and a plot summary. Clicking on the title brings up another page with publishing history and cover art scans. How much more detailed can I get?--FWDixon 23:39, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I have taken my replies to the FWDixon talk page. --PhilipO 16:32, August 24, 2005 (UTC)

Page Protection

Hello Academic Challenger. A consensus has been reached on this issue at User talk:Fwdixon/fwdixon1. We believe the links and any copyrighted material should be removed from the individual Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew pages. The link can remains on each main page. I am under the impression you have protected these pages. Would you please unprotect them so the edits can be carried out? Cheers --PhilipO 23:05, August 27, 2005 (UTC)

Comment about pages I deleted, from an unsigned annonomous user

Omg you are so cool thank you so much for being the greatest promoter of Evanism, anti-surrealism, and anti-dadaism on the whole Wikipedia!! I hope I can be an elitist jerk and help other people start art movements just like you when I turn into an elitist jerk!

Nice save!

Barbeques Galore was, IMO, a CSD at first (little or no context, not content) but since you removed the tag I made it into a legit stub. Nice job – I should have done my research first! android79 03:24, September 2, 2005 (UTC)

Hi, I created a disambiguation page for Michael Ball. You may want to change the link on your user page into Michael Ball (singer). Bertil 14:22, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wow

Gee, I was just playing and it took about 2 minutes for you to delete the page i created. You guys do take this very seriously. Well done!

Why did you remove the nn-bio template from this page?

It is a biography, and there's nothing written there which asserts notability? jmd 09:31, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I, V. Molotov, hereby give you this Working Man's Barnstar for taking out the garbage in Wikipedia.

Ryan Moore

What did you do to the Ryan Moore article and what did it look like when you deleted it? I need to know why you deleted it. WriterFromAfar755 21:14, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

For review, I have temporarily undeleted versions of Ryan Moore prior to the vandalism that blanked it and after the valid VfD deletion version about a different Ryan Moore. Please see notes at Wikipedia:Votes_for_undeletion#Ryan_Moore. - Tεxτurε 21:57, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Academic Challenger, the same IP spammed again, on the same article. Please stop him. 69.81.252.232 02:13, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Saving Umbo

Heh. I see you speedied Campaign to save Umbo (and well-done, too) as "non-notable problem on some web-board". You misunderstand the nature of the campaign.

It's a campaign to save Umbo, the Wikipedia article, from deletion.

They want a WP entry for an Everquest character.DS 23:18, 23 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious why did you deleted HumanMandala after I tagged it deletedpage and protect it from recreation -- (drini|) 03:49, 29 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wordforge

Hey there, you deleted my wiki, Wordforge, could you please explain why? Also, since I check wikipedia every few days, I'm annoyed it was deleted so very quickly without some disussion. Please get back to me :) Borgs8472 16:33, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

help requested

I believe an individual with id Joshuaschroeder has been wrongly editing a page. It appears he has not followed the 3 revert rule (if I understand it correctly). Additionally, his edits appear to be biased at best and dishonest at worst in that they are making judgments about what intelligent design is rather than letting their proponents speak for themselves in a paragraph that is intended to be a description of their claims. Please help! Swmeyer 03:46, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciate your thoughts. I'll try it once more and see what happens.
