Front Street is a street on the east side of Lower Manhattan, running northeast from Old Slip in the Financial District to Dover Street near the Brooklyn Bridge. The street is named for its location in front of Water Street, which until the end of the 17th century was the city's shoreline. Front Street and South Street were created by landfill and for a time Front Street was at the East River's edge.
