Proposed deletion of Robert Ayers (disambiguation)

Hi Ironholds, I see you marked the abovementioned page for deletion (om March 17 2010). However, when I came to look at (for) the page on March 19, it seems to have already been deleted. If this was not your doing, have you any idea why I get so little time, to even do anything about your comment. If it is your doing, well, it seems like you are judge, jury and executioner. Anyway, I posted the the original disambiguation page so long ago, I can't now, for the life of me, remember what I may have added to justify the maintenance of the page.Barmispain (talk) 21:58, 19 March 2010 (UTC) talk[reply]

Black Sports Agents Association

Firstly, I don't know what you mean, when you say it reads like spam. What I do know is that every single thing that you pointed out is absolutely true and is well documented in Sports Journals/ Books, Magazines, Newsletters, ect. What is it that makes it sound like spam? Again I'm only trying to understand so please leave out the sarcasm, "everything else? You guessed it, reads like spam". Give the same courtesy you expect. If that is not possible I would ask that you direct me to someone who can. Thanks Jaybrown33 (talk) 21:58, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Black Sports Agents Association

Hello,

I have been having a very difficult time understanding why you are against this article. I have enlisted your advice and received none in return. it has gotten to the point where any more changes to the document would paint an untrue description of what the Black Sports Agents Association is and has accomplished. You ask that individuals be civil and polite and I have done all of those things yet seem to have gotten nowhere. I don't want to take this personal I would hope that the Black Sports Agents Association would have the same opportunity as other organizations to be present on Wikipedia. Thank you and I look forward to your response and/or specific areas of "promotional content" that you speak of. Jaybrown33 (talk) 21:43, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, check out the tags you put on the page, then come back and put the one you wanted to put on there. They all have sources, all cover the information on the page. The template you placed on the various pages does not cover what you are trying make fellow editors aware of.This deal is getting worse all the time. (talk) 12:08, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mate, please check the tag that you placed on the five articles in question, take the time to read it thoroughly and realise that it does not belong on any of those pages. There is a tag for articles with sources, but no references, it is out there and I shall let you have fun in finding said tag. To state that a link in the external links section helps nobody is childish at best, and with the message posted in its entirety it is naive at worst, especially given the brevity of the articles. This deal is getting worse all the time. (talk) 01:02, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please, take the thin slice of dignity that you still have, realise that given the statement "This article does not cite any references or sources" means exactly what is says. I know what you meant to state, unfortunately from your point of view, you placed the incorrect tag on the page. Sorry for any attempts at congeniality, and sorry for having relatives who happen to be Australian and Scottish. This deal is getting worse all the time. (talk) 12:04, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I can only assume that you are attempting to wind me up, attempts which I can safely say have surely failed. Once again, the tags placed by yourself on 5 pages created by myself were unwarranted, simply because they did not cover the charges brought forward by yourself. Rather than acknowledge the error and ascertain the whereabouts of the correct tag, you have entered into a discussion where the evidence is truly damning. I also apologised for any attempts to foster the spirit of being a fellow editor. This deal is getting worse all the time. (talk) 12:24, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Henry Grey, 3rd earl of Stamford

Why have you decided this man is non notable? Have you no sense of history? He is one in a line of the Earls descended from Lady Jane Grey who owned large estates. Furthermore now I have returned from lunch to complete the article, (after spending up to two hours writing it], it it no longer there. How you retain the loyalty of your contributors I do not know. Henry Grey, 3rd earl of Stamford

I would say in his defence that he did a lot more that 90% of the people who have biographys on Wikipedia for doing next to nothing like playing in a football time (a job) or singing a pop record (a job). The important issue though is that he is one of a dynasty which is best documented as a whole so that the story of the dynasty can be followed. I hope all the Wikipedia Thought Police are not anarchists Plucas58 (talk) 14:03, 9 March 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Hi

Hi. After a long time I write to you again. Since you're all into law, could you help tell me what the content in this page means:[1] Reply, and thank you.--Theologiae (talk) 16:58, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Does that mean, that if the user does the infringement the fault is his, not the company's, and he is liable? Reply--Theologiae (talk) 18:17, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Henry Grey, 3rd Earl of Stamford

Whilst I consider withdrawing my support of Wikipedia I would make a few points in the interests of the debate you crave:

(i) You appear unable to distinguish between celebrity and notability. A member of the peerage in 17th century England did indeed have notability by just being there. The management of large estates and fortunes, attending parliament and having wide and manifold powers over his tenants ensured that. He was also a member of the the highest court in the land. If you continue down this route you will turn Wikipedia into an online Hello magazine.

(ii) You cannot see the value of documenting all the members of a dynasty so that the development of the family's fortunes can be tracked. Why have succession boxes if you can't progress along the succession.

(iii) The casual and inconsiderate removal of contributors well-intentioned efforts on the grounds of lack of "notability" because of a lack of celebrity does not inspire loyalty in the people who dedicate their time to what is not an easy task.

(iv) The value of Wikipedia is that it provides quick and easy access to a central source of knowledge about the lesser known members of society. Why do you seek to undermine this concept by only wanting to document the already well-known?

Weasel word tags

Hi! You've recently added weasel word tags to The Devil's Brood and The Reckoning. Each article reflects language from the review referenced. A GAN reviewer asked me to create the articles and I haven't had the time to expand yet. If they're tagged, should I simply delete the material and create a re-direct for now? Thanks. Is your Delete button melting from overuse?

You are rather industrious in tagging articles for deletion
(at least from an prefunctionary glance at your contributions).
Just imagine how comprehensive Wikipedia would be if that industiousness was
in adding and bettering articles.
Mind if you cool your Delete button for few fortnights?
Excessive AfD is as community damaging as vandalism and revert wars are.

Family Movement

Thank you for the feedback, I have put a Hang On tag on the speedy deletion notice as edits are being performed. The work that is being done on this entry is mainly by offline users that are from a working group of different organizations with a shared history. I am publishing their work on this entry and they are doing their best to meet the guidelines as we understand them. Many of the guidelines we are learning about through trial and error after reading about them, so apologies if we mis-understand them on first read. There is an attempt to source more materials, and more published evidence to support the entry, though our response time is a little slow as we are mostly volunteers. The entry is being sent to other potential contributors to get more references from many different organizations that have citations and evidence. Suggestions on how best to avoid deletion during this process would be much appreciated. Thanks. Stefanlorimer (talk) 18:56, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Royal Society

Since you revamped that article, I guess you're our in-house expert on things concerning the Royal Society. What did "reading a paper/a letter before the Royal Society" involve? In particular I wonder about Talk:History of electromagnetism‎#Ellicott. Several sources claim John Ellicott made a certain proposal in 1746 (or 1741, secondary sources disagree). Going to the apparent primary source I discovered that it was a letter by an anonymous addressed to John Ellicott. But the Philosophical Transactions list it as "read March 6 1745-6". Presumably Ellicott read it? Would that have made it Ellicott's proposal by the customs of his time? At least the primary source confirms it was in 1746 (New Style; 1745 Old Style). Lupo 16:01, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the answer. Though the letter is entitled A Letter from — to Mr. John Ellicot, F. R. S. of Weighing the Strength of Electrical Effluvia. In the text, the writer clearly addresses somebody, presumably Ellicott. But it's clear that it is a letter. Signature is given as "Ill.", which I take to mean "illegible". That makes me rather sceptical. Unless it was customary to write such letters oneself and then to pretend to have received them, but that'd be quite some understatement, even for an Englishman :-) If you want, I can send you the document.
