The Asbury Park Press is a daily newspaper in Monmouth and Ocean counties of New Jersey and has the third largest circulation in the state.[2]

Its investigative staff, led by editor Paul D'Ambrosio, has been awarded numerous national journalism honors, including the Selden Ring Award for Investigative Reporting, two Associated Press Managing Editors' Award for Public Service, the national SPJ Award for Public Service, the Farfel Prize for Investigative Reporting, and the National Headliner Award for Public Service. The newspaper was also a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize Gold Metal for Public Service, the Worth Bingham Prize, the Goldsmith Prize and the Investigative Reporters and Editors award.

The newspaper won the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for cartooning for the work of editorial cartoonist Steve Breen.

Gannett purchased the paper in 1997.
