The Hoss

Every Monday Afternoon from 3:30 til 5, the Hoss, and the rest of the crew, wrap up the weekend sports news, look ahead to the upcoming week, and put their own spin on it! The Hoss has been covering sports in the Valley for the last 30 years---from broadcasting Berwick High School Football in the early 80s, Berwick Little League and Teener League Baseball, Anchor for the Berwick Marathon, now the Run for the Diamonds, the High School Football Game of the week in Williamsport, to being a 10-year member of the Watkins Glen Race Broadcast team, which included a trip to Speedweeks 2000 in Daytona, (at NASCAR's invitation!), play-by-play of Phillies Spring Training Baseball, right here on ESPN 92.3(with Chad Evans, from the C and C Sports Factory, Friday nights at 6 on ESPN 92.3) to broadcasting live form the NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Charlotte, NC, live reports from the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill and, again with Chad Evans, live from Game One of the 2010 National League Championship Series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia!

A life-long Phillies fan, and also life-long Yankee hater (both of which he got from his Grandfather!), the Hoss brings his perspective to ESPN 92.3. Featured on the show each Monday afternoon, along with the staff of unpaid and semi-talented interns, are Jack Burns, the play-by-play voice of the Selinsgrove Seals right here on ESPN 92.3, with a recap of the weekend's High School Football, and a peek ahead at the upcoming schedule, Gabe Sinicropi with his weekly report on the Williamsport Crosscutters, a Phillies affiliate in the New York Penn League, Steve Post, Pit Reporter for the Motor Racing Network, the Voice of NASCAR, joins the Hoss each Monday with his up-close analysis of the weekends' Sprint Cup race.

Chris Schmouder

Chris started with MaxMedia Radio in 2005 when he teamed up with long-time play-by-play announcer, Jack Burns, broadcasting Selinsgrove Seals Football. His duties expanded with work as a color analyst for Selinsgrove Basketball and High School Softball, as well as guest spots on other local shows.

In 2011, Chris teamed up with Chad Evans as one of the “C’s” in C & C Sports Factory that airs every Friday night from 6-7 pm. Then in August of 2011, WVSL launched “Valley Sports Live” with Chris co-hosting along side Josh Beddall. “Valley Sports Live” airs every Sunday morning at 11 AM and focuses on local high school and college sports.

A native of the Susquehanna Valley and graduate of both Milton High School and Penn State University, Chris enjoys following local high school sports and is a football season-ticket holder for the Nittany Lions. He, his wife Kathi, and two daughters reside in Selinsgrove.

After his senior year, he was named the Lower Anthracite Athlete of the Year by the Reading Eagle. He was a member of the Bloomsburg University baseball team before graduating with a history degree. Josh then began his coaching career at Susquehanna University with the football and baseball programs while earning his teaching certificate. Throughout his schooling he has been a PIAA basketball official

Josh currently lives in Northumberland with his fiancée, Courtney. He is a sixth grade teacher in the Shikellamy School District.

Favorite Teams: Notre Dame football, Duke basketball, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills (Ryan Fitzpatrick), San Francisco Giants

Chad Evans

Chad was born and raised on the outskirts of Shamokin Pennsylvania. I’m proud to say that I graduated from Southern Columbia Area in 1998 and went on to college at Luzerne County Community College. Throughout my life I’ve obtained about 48 jobs doing random things within the area, but fell in love with radio. While I was in college, I received and internship with Walt Disney World and worked as a Jungle Cruise Skipper within the Magic Kingdom. It was that internship where I realized I wouldn’t be comfortable working just a “normal” job. I wanted to be in entertainment. Thankfully Max Media of Pennsylvania allows me to do just that. My days here at the radio station consist of just about everything under the sun. From producing commercials for our wonderful clients to broadcasting Philadelphia Phillies games from Clearwater Florida. It’s true that I wear many hats in this industry, but I wouldn’t want to have it any other way. Outside of radio you can find me on the golf course, for that is my passion. When I’m not there, I’m along side of my wife Tara raising our puppy “Chooch”.

Jack Burns

Jack came to the Max Media Families in 1996 after spending several years at WJMW-AM and WHLM-FM, Bloomsburg broadcasting various high school and Bloomsburg University sporting events. In his first year with Max Media, Jack and Mike Ferlazzo teamed to broadcast the Lewisburg and Mifflinburg football games on 98.3 FM and then in 1997 took over broadcasting sports for his alma mater, Selinsgrove Area High School. When Mike moved to Iowa, Chris Schmouder became the second member of the football broadcast team in 2005. Jim Beddall has been Jack's analyst on the Selinsgrove basketball broadcasts. Jack also has been the play-by-play voice for Susquehanna University sports since 1989 on WQSU FM-88.9 and was inducted into the Susquehanna University Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. He has been a member of broadcast teams that won six Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards for Sports Play-By-Play and five Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Awards in the state-wide Excellence in Broadcasting competition. Jack and his wife Bonnie, the right-hand person for the broadcasts, live in Mifflinburg.
