Do not ever again post on my talk page. In the the more general case, do not incorrectly warn other users. Seek guidance which you desperately need.

"If you don't understand, you may want to see the block history of those who don't accept this injunction." - If you think this is a threat, you need to consider some other way to spend your time.

Merging Commonwealth history articles

I merged the texts of the two articles. The technical merge, which will eliminate the now duplicate History of Poland (1569–1795) needs to be done. However the last time I did merges I did something wrong and the history on one of the articles was missing or something like that. May be you could do the merge itself, to avoid this problem. Thank you. Orczar (talk) 17:49, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited General sejm, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Piotrków (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I'd be happy to contribute a copy of the Stec photo taken in 1946 for this page since it is no longer available at the Debica link. I'm not a frequent contributor and have no idea where to send it. Contact me if you have an interest in the 1946 Stec photo.

Some well-meaning wikipedians, plus myself as the originator, have managed to make a bit of a mess of the original Polish translation of this article. Would you mind taking a look at the original and the now translation? Many thanks -- can help as much as I'm able to with this. Buckshot06 (talk) 04:01, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Piotrus,

No problem, and thanks for the support! I’m not very familiar with the book (I’ve only read the first few chapters, in a friend’s translation), so it would be hard for me to expand the article much. Once I’ve read the whole book, I could add a plot summary, but (presumably since the book is not yet available in English), there are essentially no English references, other than mentioning the title, so the article is hard to expand.

I plan to read the book in the near future (friend’s translation), and see if I can find any other references, but likely can’t expand the article much.

Any help you could provide (esp. Polish references) would be much appreciated! (Please have a crack at it if you’d like.) The Polish Wikipedia page also isn’t very detailed, but any information from there would be welcome.

BTW, one weird point – it’s unclear whether the book was originally published in 1934 or 1935 (sources differ, one even gives 1934/35); would be nice if it could be cleared up, but I’m not holding my breath.

Thanks again!

—Nils von Barth (nbarth) (talk) 23:26, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the great expansion!
I copied the text about “as popular as Harry Potter” from the Janusz Korczak page, where it was also uncited. I’ve remove/reworded this, just stating that it was “highly popular”, and made a few minor edits.

You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 12:35, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Alfred Jahn

I've noticed that there seems to be a good bit of info on Alfred Jahn, on which I've been working, in various Wyborcza articles but I can't access them. If you can see the actual articles then the article could use some help - particularly I think the stuff about his role in the 1968 protests could expandin'. If not any other help with it would be appreciated.VolunteerMarek 02:41, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pakistan FAC

Hi, I was advised by one of the reviewers to ask active FAC editors to review the Pakistan article's FAC at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Pakistan/archive1‎. It has been out for nine days, the problems mentioned in the start were fixed but there have been no further comments. There was a question about a dispute that occurred after the nomination, I've explained about it on the FAC page that there's been no consensus for it on the talk page and the current version is as of consensus. Please take a look at the article and drop your review comments and/or vote. Thanks. --lTopGunl (talk) 17:23, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Social problems has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article is a list of categories and articles that have now been included in Category:Social Problems.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Meclee (talk) 21:40, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Talkback

Thanks for the note about Social problems. Twinkle automagically notified you. Category:Social_problems has been created to hold the articles or major categories of articles, as there are often university courses with this title. I accidentally nominated Social issues for deletion, but have made a note of that error for admins.

Hello, Piotrus. You have new messages at Meclee's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hey Piotrus, through chance rather than wisdom I managed to create an article on a Polish author. I browsed around but could not find any English-language sources through Google News and Books (I may well have the wrong spelling, of course). Maybe you can do something with it... Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Labour Party (Poland)

Hi, Peter! I have added the basic information from this disambig page to the Labour Party disambig page under the current and historic Poland subtitles. Is there anything left useful for the Labor Party (Poland) disambig page to exist? --DThomsen8 (talk) 17:16, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'd merge it. Good, but what to do, exactly? It seems to me that I have already merged the information, and what may remain is to delete the Labor Party (Poland) disambig page completely. --DThomsen8 (talk) 17:50, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. The article on Polish camps needs a lot of work, and I am currently busy like hell, and I simply have no time to work on it. I have plenty of ideas for new articles, and way too little time. Greetings. Tymek (talk) 21:50, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks ...

... for your help on my home page. I've now taken it the next step to what I wanted (as best I now understand it; not delving too deeply).

Being more schooled, now, maybe, I can refer one here to the Manual of Style's description of what you provided me.

A small observation re: your own page here: Is the reference to "Archive 36" as the auto-archive-destination correct or out-of-date? I quail to propose the latter in the face of your immense contributions/apparent-Wiki-sophistication but, Maybe. No need for an answer. (But if I link to this, I want to know where to link, right? :-))

Anyway, thanks again. Swliv 00:21, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Iron Law of Wikipedia?

I just finished reading "Governance, Organization, and Democracy on the Internet" thanks to your userpage (Indiana University-Bloomington subscribes to Sociological Forum), and I was curious — have you made any further analyses based on WP:V since 2009? Nyttend (talk) 20:35, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking specifically about ANI while reading the section that noted that even the most active editors of WP:V commonly edit articles; seems like there are plenty of people who rarely go anywhere except ANI. It might be interesting to look at people who rarely go anywhere besides the reference desks, although I'd guess that the RD regulars are less affected by the law because of the very nature of the page. Thanks for the comments; my nearly-total lack of sociological experience means that I'd never heard of the Iron Law or of Michels before. Nyttend (talk) 22:23, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the pointer to the language-style research (yes, it's two weeks ago); how interesting. I'm amazed that they went through 4,000,000 comments! Talk about quantitative-based research...Nyttend (talk) 01:34, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Occupy Pittsburgh

restore, I see no AfD note on talk or in the article about a redirect-like deletion

The small, 7,605 bytes stub was merged and redirected to its parent article per best practice.[1] What was deleted and why would you revert such a merge? Do you believe that a small stub on Occupy Pittsburgh is going to grow into a larger article? Viriditas (talk) 23:53, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
