Britain's Next Top Model
Sophie was a part of the cast of Britain's Next Top Model, Cycle 5, and was the 10th girl chosen to enter the top model house, due to her unconvential and unique look. However, Sophie's first week in the main part of the competition was arguably a negative one, as Sophie struggled at the photoshoot and produced a weak photo; fortunately for her, she was spared by the judges. The next week, Sophie's improvement was noticed by the judges, but her performance still resulted in a low call-out. It was in the 4th episode that Sophie became a true stand-out, with her photo being deemed as the best in the bunch, earning her a first-call out. Afterwards, Sophie avoided the bottom two and produced strong photographs, but notably landed in the bottom two again in episode 8, for her seemingly bad attitude and know-it-all personality, however, the judges rejected the idea of Sophie being a know-it-all, saving her from the bottom two. Sophie made it all the way to the final 2, but was beaten by Mecia Simson.
America's Next Top Model
Sophie was chosen as one of the 7 British All-Stars to compete in America's Next Top Model: British Invasion, along with her fellow Cycle 5 contestants, Annaliese and Ashley. Sophie greatly impressed the judges week after week with her personality that "lit up a room", leading to her being labelled as "Illuminata" by Banks herself. Sophie earnt a 3rd call-out on the first week of the competition, higher than any other Brit. On the photoshoot with Kris Jenner, Sophie was called 7th. The next week, Sophie achieved her highest call-out yet, being called 2nd behind American model AzMarie Livingston. The next week, Sophie produced a shot which narrowly avoided the bottom two, and was to become her lowest call-out of the cycle. She was called 3rd the week after, which began her streak of being called in the top 3, which was maintained throughout the rest of the competition. Sophie earnt a total of 2 first call-outs (tea party tooch photoshoot, and Dream Come True photoshoot), 4 second call-outs, and 3 third call-outs. Her consistency, bright personality, strong runway walk and breathtaking portfolio led to Sophie becoming the eighteenth winner of the show, over Laura LaFrate, and simultaneously becoming the first ever non-American winner of the show. Sophie's win also means that quite like winners such as Jaslene Gonzalez, McKey Sullivan, Nicole Fox and Krista White, she won without any appearances in the bottom two.
After Next Top Model
Sophie's debut single, 'Aiming For You' is set to be released soon on iTunes, her Vogue Italia photos are due to be featured in a a summer issue of the publication, and her Covergirl Ad will be featured on billboards all over the US, as will her ad for the America's Next Top Model perfume, Dream Come True. Summer has stated that she is moving to the States and is currently deciding whether to move to New York or Los Angeles. In 2006, Sophie Sumner left Elite and signed a contract with an international agency IMG Models. [1] In January, she made her debut on the podium when Riccardo Bench put it in his Givenchy couture show in Paris. Later that year she became an exclusive model for Calvin Klein. [8] in 2007 was more successful when its resemblance to Brigitte Bardot, it was noted in the March issue of Vogue Paris. In April, she appeared on the cover is this edition. "Sometimes a girl just touches you," - said editor Karin Roytfeld. Fashion critic of The New York Times called her Kathy Horin "anti-model" in his blog On the Runway (Russo on the podium), describing it as atypical for a podium with an android spaced front teeth, stunned face and gait, Lurch, which can be attributed to its small size shoes - 37.5 - catwalk shoes for at least one size larger. [9] All this talk about Sophie Sumner led the New York Magazine put it on line 2 of their Top Ten Models to Watch (Russo 10 the best models in which pay attention) during Fashion Week in New York. [10]Sophie Sumner opened the show for Giles Deacon, Isabel Marant, Christopher Kane, Fendi, and Max Mara, and closed for the Diesel, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and Balmain. She also received the prestigious "polueksklyuzivny" status in Prada, meaning she could not participate in any other shows during Fashion Week in New York and Milan to show Prada.[2]
