The 2013 AFC U-22 Asian Cup qualification will be the first edition of the tournament qualification which will be hosted.[1] The qualifiers will take place from 23 June to 3 July, 2012, but were later changed to 2-10 June for Group D, due to Nepal's request. The matches were later rescheduled to start from June 16. [2][3]

Player eligibility

Only players born on or after 1 January 1989 are eligible to compete in the 2013 AFC U-22 Asian Cup qualification.

Format

Forty-one member associations have entered the qualification to grab 15 spots in the final tournament The qualifiers will be held in seven centralised venues, which will be announced later.

The teams were divided into six groups of six teams each and one group of five. They will play one-round league format and the top two teams will qualify for the tournament proper along with the best third-placed team in all the groups. The hosts of the Finals will get a direct berth.
