Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Pari Telang, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lakshya (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

S/stub tags

Hallo, Thanks for adding {{Stub}} to Alumide: I've now stub-sorted it to {{material-stub}}. When you're labelling articles as stubs, if you use a small "s" as in {{stub}} it's a little less work for the stub-sorter, as we don't have to change "S" to "s". Thanks, and Happy Editing. Altered speedy deletion rationale: St. vincent kaun

Hello NintendoFan, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I deleted St. vincent kaun, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided. The speedy deletion criteria are extremely narrow and specific, and the process is more effective if the correct criterion is used. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. ~ Amory (utc) 23:13, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Namely, G1 is only for complete nonsense. Basically, if you can understand it, it's not G1; plenty of others were applicable, though. ~ Amory (utc) 23:15, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

An article on a number

"NintendoFan", you display your ignorance. No one (except you?) would suggest that 1729 (number) should be deleted. And we have others like those. Michael Hardy (talk) 15:13, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Writing an article on a non-notable high number is a joke. It's really pointless as consensus would suggest to delete the article. If everyone else were to say "keep" you'd have a point. And no, I have no intention of nominating the number you mentioned.NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 21:46, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I never suggested that _this_ article should be kept. But your comment suggested it's a "joke" _merely_ because it's about a number. Michael Hardy (talk) 05:30, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just to clarify. The fact that it exists is a joke, in my opinions since it's such a high number. The content itself does make sense, though. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 13:50, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think simply being very large is a reason to consider a number not to be notable. It's just a question of whether there is something notable about it. Most numbers in the neighborhood of 1729 are not notable, but 1729 is. Michael Hardy (talk) 21:24, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's been four months, but to clarify: When a side the article was "A JOKE" it implied that having an article full of calculations for that large number was pointless in my opinion. It would have been more appropiate to convert it into a zip code article. Basedon inclusion criteria, if the location was not notable the page could be marked as a stub or redirected to the state the zip code was located. You know, you have a sandbox for a reason... please use it. Yunshui  12:10, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I was trying Special:CentralAuth and wanted to see if the count included deleted edits, it does. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 12:12, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see - thought you were just testing templates. There's still a way to check that without creating nonexistent users though; just check your own edit count and match it against the Toolserver one. Yunshui  12:14, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I was testing CA's edit counter to see if that number includes deleted edits. I do try to explain my intentions, and I'd surmise deleted content uses server space as each version is stored in the database. So deleted edits do count. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 12:23, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly - so if your CA count matches your Toolserver one (which you already know included deleted edits), then that would surely serve to indicate that the CA counter also includes deleted edits, would it not? Yunshui  12:25, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That was the point of the experiment and now I have a clear answer. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 07:38, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:StackerMachine.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:StackerMachine.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:StackerMachine.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work contained within this image, you will need to specify

  1. the creator of the original work
  2. the copyright status of the original work, usually indicated by adding a licensing tag. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:42, 4 December 2013 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:42, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Xit-Group until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Thank you

For taking time to comment on my RfA. I hope you will allow me a question: last time, you supported my candidacy. This time, you are neutral. I'd be very curious to know what I have done in this last year to cause you to reconsider your support? I'd also like to enquirer about the meaning of your "iron fist" comment, I am afraid I don't fully follow you there. Cheers, --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 22:07, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The last time I voted, I voted solely on the experience factor and your willingness to contribute to article-related stuff such as protections and deletions. When I vote I usually look at what the candidate is willing to do, so I had reason to support. However the incident concerns me because during that incident you used policy to keep people who you had conflicted off WP, while masquerading to other as someone uninvolved. I would gladly support if you're willing to stick to the stuff on article and if your have to report and block, you either use good judgement or ask another sysop. Clearly, getting the tools under your current name is going to be a difficult process. There are too many people who painfully remember the incident and nothing is going to change their minds.
I do think that opposers who feel you should be banned are being somewhat extreme, though. If you can stay away from these people and just contribute to articles then there is no reason for a former ban. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 22:21, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If I understand you correctly, you are saying that you have looked into issues beyond experience and willingness to contribute, and are more concerned over those topis, yes? You are right that I misused the policy back then, through I'd like to point out that the entirety of any admin abuse was a single semi-protection against IPs I did upon being asked for it (canvassed, yes); after it was undone it was quickly reinstanted by a neutral admin (for diffs, please see here). Anyway, if I get the tools back, I certainly would be even more cautious with them than I were in the past. Is there anything you'd like to inquire about further, or have me clarify? If you reply here, please WP:ECHO me. Thanks! PS. You may find the recent comment by User:DGG at RfA of interest. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:26, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm given you my support. My concern stems from seeing good editors like Kiefer.Wolfowitz get banned for poor interactions with others and administrators (who I will not name) misuse their privilege to get people who they've personally feuded with banned through offline interaction. If you're going to get back your privileges, then you have to show you won't fall to your mistake again because if you lose them again the odds of getting them back are as good as winning ten Super Bowls in a row. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 10:50, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I fully agree that we are using blocks too much, where topic bans and other tailored restrictiosn would suffice. I wrote a mini-essay on this here. For what's it worth, even during the EEML times I never wanted to see our opponents blocked, only reformed. With the declining participation rate, keeping people away from this project is the last thing we need, we need to recruit and retain more editors. Loosing Kiefer is unfortunate, btw; I was always on good terms with him. I wish I could've helped him more. If you ever hear about any proposal to unban him, or such, please don't hesitate to ping me about that, I could volunteer as a mentor or perhaps help in another fashion. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:03, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree with that blocks are too excessive. The time has come to propose rules as how much time a block should last and place a restriction on indef blocks being given out for the first time. The blocking user would be warned to notify the target user about the behaviour and then allow it if the warning is ignored. Good vandal-fighting involves cleaning up the page, notifying the vandal user, and only blocking when the vandal is persistent.
  • In terms of banning, there should be a process where each ban proposal is reviewed and finalized by the Arbitration Committee and a time is determined. If there is consensus to ban then an arbitration case can be open to determine the proper sanctions.
  • When I went neutral, I knew you're nomination was going to be like 50/50 and not have enough to succeed. You're best bet might be to consider a name-change so the people who know you on bad terms won't be so quick to oppose. I can't guarantee it will work, but the odds of getting re-nominated under "Piotrus" are still long. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 12:16, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(For context, the deleted page wasn't just a non-existent template floating in a vacuum, it was a named WP:ATTACK page with silly stuff in the broken infobox, and most likely a schoolkid cracking jokes about a friend.)

If you think it would help to respond to the banned user "just in case he comes back", you should do that on the user's talk page instead of restoring a deleted thread on someone else's. User:Jhona43 most likely doesn't want to be called a "prick" by a banned user again. --McGeddon (talk) 11:43, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@McGeddon:. I think the user was frustrated with you being persistant in trying to get the page deleted. When I saw that page, it only had the redlinked template and nothing else. The page was deleted so I don't know what content was in the page to make it an attack on someone else. If that's the case, then the user should be blocked. It's unlikely they'll request an unblock, though. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 11:49, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The user was blocked, indefinitely; you added a comment below that block message on their talk page. My only connection with the deletion was to change the speedy template from A3 to G10; there's been no "persistence", the article was just created once and speedied a few minutes later. --McGeddon (talk) 12:11, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You should either update Jhona43's talk page to have the unedited "You are a prick" post, or delete it. Making it appear as though the user somehow evaded their block and returned to ask the same question more politely is needlessly confusing. --McGeddon (talk) 12:22, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The comment is hidden, pending review by Jhona43. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 12:28, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@McGeddon: You were right for tagging, it just seems the user was not happy at the article being deleted. The one thing I disagree with is the intent of the page. I doubt the user was a troll given the fact he/she was trying to make a few joke edits to the site. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 12:23, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The user's only other two edits were to change kids' TV articles to add material about "German fetish porn" and something about a "retarded" character voiced by an actor with the same name as... the "Mexican warlord" they created an article about. I don't think any of this was being done in good faith. --McGeddon (talk) 12:28, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@McGeddon: I understand the edits were clearly vandalism, and a block of some sort was called for given the user was warned. But new editors getting blocked for vandalism is a classic case of how experienced editors deal with newcomers when their edits are vandalism. The article Rudy Washington has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Replaceable fair use File:CasinoCards.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:CasinoCards.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. TLSuda (talk) 15:21, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
