Stubs

Please take care not to waste other editors' time by adding{{stub}} to an article which already has a specific stub tag. And please also note that stub tags go right at the end, after references etc, per WP:ORDER. Thanks. New Page Patrol

Hi. We appreciate your enthusiasm but with only 147 edits please do not patrol new pages until you have significantly more experience. If you would like to help maintain the quality of the encyclopedia, as soon as you have made 200 edits to mainspace you will qualify to enroll at the WP:CVUA to learn about counter vandalism. Anti-vandalism work requires a much lower threshold of knowledge of policies and guidelines than NPP, but is nevertheless very important. Happy editing! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:59, 11 January 2015 (UTC) Thx, but i have a hobby of watching policies on IPs so I have enough knowledge. Will get to 200 edits though.Clubjustin4 (talk) 10:11, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Traffic enforcement camera, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Langham Place (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A belated welcome!

Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Clubjustin4. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Your replies on my talk page

Hi, I appreciate your assistance with my talk page, but you reverted a perfectly good-faith removal of the AfC template (an edit summary was even provided!) that I was going to remove anyway. Additionally, while my talk page is pretty busy, it's probably best if the AfC questions are left to an experienced AfC reviewer. ("try writing it with less POV" isn't particularly helpful if one doesn't know what POV stands for, or know the rules about NPOV). As you do not have sufficient article edits to become such at the moment, I'd rather not risk confusing the newbies. Hello Clubjustin4,

Thank you for taking time to look over my changes made to the Women in Hong Kong page. I just wanted to notify you that I have reverted your edits, as much of the information I obtained to put in this page is from other researched wikipedia pages that are linked to the subject. I have also carefully researched additional information.

Edit to William Langewiesche article

Howdy, I edited a portion of the William Langewiesche entry and you reverted the edits; per your request I wanted to explain my concerns.

As it stands, more than half of the "Career" section of the entry is devoted to a discussion of one article, a critical article Mr. Langewiesche wrote about Chevron. This seems like disproportionate emphasis, given the subject's long career as a journalist (see, e.g., the "Awards" and "Bibliography" sections of the entry). I'm only an occasional, unregistered, editor here, so I defer to the community on this. But, while I don't see why there shouldn't be some mention of this possible controversy in the entry, it seems wildly out of proportion for most of the entry to focus on it. Especially given that it's all attributed to one source, without any broader sourcing to explain why this is such a prominent aspect of the subject's life and career.

I'd appreciate your suggestions on how/if the entry could be revised and improved to mention this article and the surrounding controversy more concisely, in proportion to its actual importance (both in general and in relation to the subject's life and career). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:326F:ABC0:FDE7:EB8A:8569:3DD2 (talk) 05:02, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help

Thank you for your help in keeping Don Lane (Santa Cruz)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Lane_%28Santa_Cruz%29 honest and as negotiated on October 15 2014. They have added this sentence: "The following paragraph was written by a political opponent of Lane who has decided to take up 25 percent of Lane's biography with his obsession with a minor event from more than 25 years ago that is not accurately described. The references cited do not actually verify all of the contents of this paragraph:" which is patently untrue. I am not the political opponent they are referring to though I do oppose many of Lane's policies and decisions. I have added this after the above inserted sentence: "The previous sentence is not true as evidenced by the following links and direct quotes."

It's funny how Don Lane and his team are so upset about this episode that they lie about it. It's also funny that Don Lane refers to it in a jokingly condescending manner in a recent fluff piece about him in a local paper: http://www.gtweekly.com/index.php/santa-cruz-news/santa-cruz-local-news/6203-on-his-terms.html

Again, thanks for your help and diligence on this page. Let's keep it up! The Man of Heart (talk) 13:14, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted

Hi Clubjustin4. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Widr (talk) 11:41, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First, who are you to take such a decision to banned someone? Second, I may be one of the guys out there who knows the airport the most so when I am editing, I'm doing it right and never for nothing. And you, do you know the airport? Obviously no because you'll never let such info there. A and C are just letters designating the check-point use to access either the domestic, us or int'l jetty. More then that, domestic is accessible by A as well as int'l, and the guys who update it before was thinking only int'l was A. So you see, I am not a disruptive person as you said.

Last but not least, can who cite me one more time that I was disruptive according to you? Be carefull when you told something to someone, you are not fair.

Information icon Hello Clubjustin4. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that you shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at Jarus Buzz. It is also suggested that pages that might meet CSD A7 criteria not be tagged for deletion immediately after they are created. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks.Template:Z149 Adam9007 (talk) 14:01, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Clubjustin, how's things? Just a quick note letting you know I removed a CSD you placed on this user page. I did this for a number of reasons:

  • The user is new and will likely see that page as "their profile"
  • They have not made any article space promotional edits (yet!)

I've dropped them a message trying to steer them towards sticking around and becoming a constructive member of Wikipedia. Immediately CSDing and not trying to let them know it's not okay can be seen as a little BITEy and often scares people off

Disruptive Editing

Information icon Greetings. At least one of your recent edits did not appear to be constructive and has been or will be reverted or removed. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make some test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Stop icon

Your recent editing history at These Thousand Hills (UK) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Stop restoring validly declined speedy deletion tags. You know perfectly well that A7 tags may be removed by non-admins (except the article creator). You initially tagged the article for speedy deletion one minute after a new editor began writing it, where the tect broke off mid-sentence and it was evident that the inexperienced article creator was trying to work further on their first article. Your action was abusive and violated WP:BITE. Restoring the tag is a violation of speedy deletion practice, and your insistence, here and elsewhere, that only admins may decline your proposals is not consistent with reasonable. good faith editing. Thanks, but isn't sending me this a bit too late? 4 days is plenty to read up on proper procedure, and yes, I have learnt. Thanks anyway. Clubjustin (talk) 09:00, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm laughing my head off right now dealing with this Johnnson111. Just have a look through his talk page history and everything going on here. It's annoying but hilarious. I've called on some admins to hard block, but to no avail so far. Amccann421 (talk) 05:48, 21 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Over-hasty and inaccurate speedy deletion tagging

It seems that you are unwilling to take the advice that you have been given more than once above. You added this tag a minute after the article was created, and, apart from that, it was invalid because the article said that the subject had appeared in several TV dramas, including one with a Wikipedia article. If you continue to treat new page patrol as a race rather than an activity that helps build this encyclopedia then your behaviour will be considered disruptive. 86.17.222.157 (talk) 17:27, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

even after a day, the article STILL fails WP:GNG. Clubjustin Talkosphere 03:12, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
But that has nothing to do with speedy deletion. 86.17.222.157 (talk) 06:32, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The article at that time as simply stating she was a beautiful actress and had been in a few shows. If that doesn't warrant speedy deleting, nothing will. Clubjustin Talkosphere 07:40, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Then you need to adjust your sights a bit before you do any more speedy deletion tagging. The "few shows" here included a notable TV drama, which easily passes the "indication of importance or significance" threshold of WP:A7. Of course the subject may not be notable, for which we have other, non-speedy, deletion processes. 86.17.222.157 (talk) 12:54, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sources is written in Chinese

Everything on the data of Negrito Y-DNA is written Chinese which is something that could mistinterpreted. Until you find a English source please remove this Chinese which non-Chinese people don't understand. http://www.eastling.org/paper/YellowBrown-pbs.pdf 走向遠東的兩個現代人種 It is ridicolous to use a chinese source for reference when you can't even understand it. - talk) 06:32, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is I do. I live in Hong Kong, China, which has Wikipedia access. Clubjustin Talkosphere 08:14, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Still you should give the source in English (international language ) when in comes to DNA studies because when we read something we want to confirm it with the reference that we can understand. Your source is only for Chinese. We have removed DNA data in Arabic, Turkish text and replaced it with English so it makes no sense that we should allow Chinese. How are we suppose to believe in something that we can't understand and there may even be a chance that there is a minsinterpretation so please replace it with a English source. - talk 06:41, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is, there IS no English source. The article is from a state-run "magazine" that only publishes in Chinese, and due to wonky copyright laws, other publishers can't reuse it for printing unless they get permission. Good luck with that. Clubjustin Talkosphere 08:32, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
203.156.126.55, the applicable policy is WP:RSUE. If equally good sources are not available in English then non-English ones are perfectly acceptable. There is no requirement that every editor should be capable of reading every source, whether such inability is due to lack of library access, lack of the technical knowledge to understand a source, linguistic inability or any other reason. 86.17.222.157 (talk) 12:50, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What a garbage reason. The fact that's is a non-English source doesn't make it legit and accurate. Stick English sources with English text, Chinese with Chinese. You say " There is no requirement that every editor should be capable of reading every source " which is the reason why many say wikipedia is full of crap. Your editing somethings that's important which is genetics and you're using it in chinese. - talk) 15:03, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yet you use.... Google. As a source. And it has become clear you are in the UK, and thus, have absolutely no knowledge or ability to read Chinese. Clubjustin Talkosphere 23:32, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Do you even bother to read the sources or do you have problem because is not in Chinese again ? You removed my source without even giving a reason so now I'm asking you to give me a proper reason.

To use your own words, the next time you remove real information and vandalize wikipedia by placing fake amd nonexisting references, you may be permanently blocked form editing ANYTHING on wikipedia from your present account. I strongly advice you to REMOVE the false information you vandalised Wikipedia with, and to replace it with the real info which you deleted. All the evidence of it, as well the proof of what the real information is and which is the fake one, I presented in my edditing comment. I strongly advice you to learn how to read, and quit vandalising Wikipedia, orherwise we will be forced to take serious measures from a higher hand at Wikipedia team. Have a nice day.

(talk page stalker) @Muntele: Please don't make threats about blocking other users clearly acting in good faith. Vandalism is a concerted effort to undermine the integrity of the wiki, almost maliciously. Impersonating an admin from 'Wikipedia team' is fatuous given your editing history and will only land you in hot water. Remember to assume good faith.
From what I can tell, it's this diff about whether Hippocrates should be called the first Greek physician or the first European physician. All of the sources cited have been lost to linkrot. Kaffir lime etymology

Got your message. I added more information back with citations to the lexicographers who have researched the name. While people love to jump at supposed slurs because it makes for attention getting blog posts, it's similar to the "niggardly" debacle. It's entirely possible, and in light of the lexicographical research on the topic, highly likely that the two "kaffirs" are actually just separate in origin and meaning. The section on the etymology of the kaffir lime should not exist solely of a speculative conclusion, to the glaring exclusion of experts who seem more intimately knowledgeable on that specific topic.— Preceding unsigned comment added by an unspecified IP address
