Opting in to VisualEditor
As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 50 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable
". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:24, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
R211
Please provide an actual link to a source for the statement, "In the MTA's 20 Year Capital Assesment it mentioned the possibility that the R211 will feature open gangways, which will allow passengers to seamlessly walk throughout the train." on the R211 (New York City Subway car) article. Simply saying where it is found is technically not enough. Thank you. Mysteryman557 (talk) 00:54, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Hillside vs. Woodhull Park/Rockaway Junction stations
Evidently, Rockaway Junction (LIRR station) was two blocks east of Hillside (LIRR station), if you look at some of the evidence. Some of the references also show Hillside as being listed as far back as 1909, which you've already mentioned. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 05:05, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
Happy Holidays
Happy holidays and happy new year to my Editing Wikipedia "WikiProject New York City Public Transportation", editing coleuge(I have trouble speeling this word, it means two people who work at the same place.). From, very friendly, Doorknob747 00:56, 17 December 2014 (UTC) here is a gift of something rarely seen: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_interior_of_a_busy,_R160B_R_train.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doorknob747 (talk • contribs) 23:25, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi. While I appreciate your edits to create these templates, I don't really think it is necessary. All the stations are linked from IRT Jerome Avenue Line, so we really don't need navboxes for every single station. It creates more workload for the Wikipedia servers. Maybe we can create a template for all New York City Subway stations, and have an option to display only one or two lines instead, like this: {{NYCS stations|Jerome=yes}} to display Jerome Avenue stations, etc.
Please also don't remove the category. The category is for internal purposes, and groups the stations by NYCS division, opening date, location, etc.
Thanks. Epicgenius (talk) 22:03, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
I don't mind at all. I have no problem with making templates for everything New York City Subway-related. I think he should go ahead and continue to do so. I think they're great. JoesphBarbaro (talk) 23:32, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
- Kind of unrelated, but {{NYCS stations navbox}} now exists. Epic Genius (talk) 01:55, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
Regarding Your Comment
I agree with the 57 Street (Q) reroute editing, and realize that was a mistake. But there was no need to delete my Broad Street information and the SAS 116 and 106 and 125 Street information. The original IRT Second Ave line had demolished stations that are on wiki, so why can't 125, 116 and 106 be there as well? Broad Street also needed information from the old (M) and (R), so why remove that as we'll? I don't mean to sound mean, but you just deleted everything I made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AahdTahar (talk • contribs) 04:43, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
Well, then if you are doing the Broad St editing you will need to do that for every subway wikipedia page, which you are not doing. In addition, the 125, 116, and 106 are only proposed while the abandoned station exists. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 13:29, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
And this is the exact reason why nobody can learn anything on the subway, of you want me to do that of every single station, then fine, I'll do it, but please don't delete it if you only see it on one page, I will continue on doing the rest. And about the SAS, did you not see that I clearly expressed the word "under planning"? And there is already a lot of proof of those stations existing, plus I included the fact of the failed SAS tunnels, and that's all I need to make the article according to Wikipedia guidelines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.232.165.43 (talk) 15:41, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
May I edit the 6 Train Page
Since you know a lot on the system, may I please update the 6 train page with the fleet swap article? Thank you. AahdTahar (talk) 21:52, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for notifying me, but the subway service pages are for the service's routing, not for what cars operated on the service. It would take a lot of work, but this would need to be written on the subway car pages, but this is already written. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 00:49, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Unexplained blanking.
I am here to tell u about a unexplained blanking that you have done on the columbus circle subway stop. Please comment before blanking, not doing this repeatedly may lead to a need to call a admin, to report vandalism.Doorknob747 (talk) 22:57, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
That is one incident with no evidence. It is badly written, and there are many minor incidents that happen in subway stations every day, and those don't belong on wikipedia pages unless they are major incidents, and this is clearly not major as it isn't mentioned anywhere, I am sorry if I didn't explain it. Deletion discussion about Humboldt Street (LIRR station)
Hello, Kew Gardens 613,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Humboldt Street (LIRR station) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Humboldt Street (LIRR station) .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

The LIRR Today
I removed them because the website leads to a Google Login page. The link is considered to be dead, because when I sign in to Google, it says, This blog is open to invited readers only
It doesn't look like you have been invited to read this blog. If you think this is a mistake, you might want to contact the blog author and request an invitation. This link, thus, leads to a dead end and has no info. Epic Genius (talk) 16:27, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I was invited, but I have two separate email accounts, one in which I was invited and one in which I wasn't. For some reason I still get in when I am using the one I wasn't invited from, which made me lead to believe that the author of the website opened it up to more than just people invited. Have you tried the link? Even when I am not logged in to an email it still works, with the link. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 16:33, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

What do you mean by an error message on NYCTF? You can easily become a member of subchat. However, you are more likely to get access via NYCTF. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 19:55, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
- I had an account, but when I try to access NYCTF, it now displays an error message, saying "SORRY, BUT THE PAGE YOU REQUESTED WAS NOT FOUND. It seems that the page you were trying to reach doesn't exist anymore, never existed, or may it has just moved. Use the links in the navigation bar to get out of this page." My proxy is blocked. However, I'll take up your suggestion and register for SubChat. Epic Genius (talk) 01:30, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Keep both him and the A train article on your watchlist, just in case he continues reverting the Broad Channel image. JoesphBarbaro (talk) 23:50, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hey Kew Gardens, I suggest that while you should keep the A train article in good shape, you should probably not edit war over the image, either. This seems to be a content dispute, so maybe you should discuss it on the talk page of the article. Epic Genius (talk) 17:34, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Epicgenius: I hated how I got blocked for editing warring, harrasssment, and personal attacks, and also how I got called out for socking, but yet, that IP address that keeps on edit warring with me on the A train article never got blocked for editing warring and socking. This is totally frustrating and I will not put up with this anymore! The revert on the 4 train article
Union Tpke aka Kew Gardens 613, I reverted you because of the reasons that I've already explain to Philroc. How does it make sense to have a map template for any of the New York City Subway articles when we already have a full list of stations as they are? The map templates belong to the New York City Subway line articles, not the New York City Subway service articles. The 4 is a service, not a line. We don't need to go into any detail about the changes on the lines themselves, because they don't have an impact on any of the services that run on the aforementioned lines. Do you understand or do I need to make myself more clearer? JoesphBarbaro (talk) 21:57, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
DYK for Staten Island Tunnel
On 29 July 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Staten Island Tunnel, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that at 10,400 feet (3,200 m), the Staten Island Tunnel would have been the world's longest tunnel, but it was abandoned after only 150 feet (46 m) of it had been built? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Staten Island Tunnel. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Just 2 questions about NYCTF and that's it
Just want to ask 2 things about NYCTF and that's it:
1. How many more people upvoted that Fresh Pond nigga's post at the R32 M train thread? That snide comment of his?
2. What's currently happening at the R32 M thread? Everything became okay or are they (you youself included) still mad at me for pissing on the campfire? JoesphBarbaro (talk) 22:36, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
I haven't been mad at you at all for anything you have done. Other people are mad because they get really irritated at your comments. I upvote both you and Fresh Pond, because both of you have a valid reason to be mad. --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 14:47, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
Did Fresh Pond said anything else to me afterwards? I haven't been able to log onto NYCTF due to ongoing connection problems, but I'll manage the issue on my own. JoesphBarbaro (talk) 14:53, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
Fresh Pond said this: "And you mean to tell me this doesn't come off as being an a-hole?
You could've easily ignored the entire thread from the jump... " --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 22:19, 6 September 2015 (UTC)

Also, what would it take to have the article become A class? --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 19:27, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613: According to this,
For WikiProjects without a formal A-Class review process, the proposal to promote to A-Class should be made on the article's talk page. To be granted, the proposal should be supported by two uninvolved editors, with no significant opposes. The review should also be noted on the project's discussion page.
So open up a discussion at Talk:Staten Island Railway and then ask for consensus. You may also want to notify WP:NYCPT.(Also, in case you're wondering, it may need a little more work to promote to FA-class. By "little" I mean a little more than a little.) Staten Island Railway
Hi Kew Gardens, have you given thought to my suggestions at the reassessment page? I'm looking for more concision in the prose, with some thought given to making choices about which are the more important facts about the history to present. Because the article is so long it would probably take a lot of time to improve it all, and the DYK people are getting antsy about the nomination staying open there.
My suggestion is that if you want to keep GA now I think it would be better to split off most of the History section into its own article and then focus on a shorter History section here, covering the most important aspects of its history. Otherwise, I think it would be better to close the GA assessment for now so that you can take your time improving the prose. As I said, I think the Guild of Copy Editors would be helpful here. Let me know what you want to do. Antony–22 (talk⁄contribs) 19:45, 3 December 2015 (UTC)
- I made a separate page, but I need help fining out what is most important. Thanks, and sorry for the delay.
- --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 21:16, 3 December 2015 (UTC)
- Well, making decisions about what's most important is one of the hardest and most important parts of good writing! A good goal would be to try to condense each subsection into one, maybe two paragraphs. I condensed the "Predecessor" subsection as an example. Good things to keep are major changes to the railroad and its operation, and interesting facts. For example, the fact that the railroad went bankrupt and changed ownership because one of the ferries blew up is a major change, and the fact that some stations are named after farms and people who invested in the railroad is interesting. Things like the names of the locomotives and all the ferry companies acquired by the railroad, or a story about a potential foreclosure on the locomotives that didn't end up actually happening, don't need to be here. Readers can still learn about these at the separate article if they want, but only the most important facts go here. Hopefully this example helps. Bombardier's financial crisis continues
Well, Mr. Kew Gardens 613
Since you love the R32's and R42's very much, you will see them in service for many more years to come. Here's the scoop from Marketwatch dated December 22, 2015 about Bombardier's money woes. I guess Bombardier owes their creditors and vendors an awful lot of money. I reviewed their annual balance sheet and it does NOT look good at all (HUGE LOSSES in the billions).
Sorry to have to report this, and will keep you informed on future developments on this matter, but Happy Holidays anyway.
Sincerely, Joe jlee39@verizon.net
A recent Reuters report said Bombardier is exploring the sale of any of its other business units, as well as a potential investments from private-equity firms, hedge funds or other foreign governments, something Scotiabank (Bombardier's creditor) analyst Turan Quettawala said might be necessary.
Bombardier has announced that it will spin off its train-making unit through an initial public offering next year, but the analyst said the accretion from this “is not likely to be that material.”
In addition, it is unlikely to resolve Bombardier’s balance-sheet cash-flow crunch and will negatively impact the company’s access to debt markets.
“As such, we don’t see this as the right course of action,” Quettawala said, because Bombardier will run out of cash by mid-2016.
If we read and comprehend this article correctly, it may appear that no new R179 subway cars will be produced by Bombardier until a buyer is found, and the new buyer and owner will possibly build and produce these new R179 subway cars, and agree with all terms of the contract set forth by the MTA.

Excitable user who works on subway articles
Regarding the 3RR report at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/3RRArchive303#User:TheManchoMan reported by User:100.12.206.17 (Result: Blocked). Recently you left a notice on an IP talk. This seems to be an alternate account of User:TheManchoMan. Do you have any ideas of what to do? He seems to be an endless fount of personal attacks. If there is no hope of reasoning with him, an indefinite block might be considered. I am not sure whether his edits are useful. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 03:55, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
- His edits aren't useful and other editors including Vcohen, who along with me works on the transit pages, don't agree with his edits. I think that he has good intentions, but he doesn't communicate with the rest of the community and gets angry when there work is changed. I have a feeling that that might need to be done. Thanks. --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 15:23, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

are you blind? you can't tell the difference between an r142 and r142a and an r68 and r68a and an r143 and an r160? plus the 4 is mostly r142s, the b is mostly r68as and the l is mostly r143s so quit it — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheManchoMan (talk • contribs) 20:28, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
I can tell the difference, and you don't need to include both in the article. --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 20:30, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
why not? r142as are regularly assigned to the 4, r160s are regularly assigned to the l and r68s are regularly assigned to the b so stop being stubborn and give me a good explanation like i have — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheManchoMan (talk • contribs) 20:34, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
While you are at it go do the 7, A, J, and a lot of other services. It is truly not needed. Also, sign your posts.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 20:37, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
wow just wow you clearly are stubborn and you have never even bother to give me a logical reason all you did was dismissed me you are very stubborn that's what i don't like about you kew gardens — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheManchoMan (talk • contribs) 20:39, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
the 4, b and l lines have two car types assigned to them whereas the 7, a and 2 lines only have one car type assigned so quit being stubborn and give me a logical reason like i have
being dismissive and reverting ain't gonna solve it
7 – R188 & R62A A – 1 SET R32, R68A, R46 I didn't mention the 2 I mentioned the J – R32 & R160A --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 20:44, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
as long as those car types are assigned to those lines they're still assigned and should always be included with the primary car type assignments, once again you are still being stubborn and not giving me a logical reason other than dismissing me and reverting me simply because you think it's pointless you sound pretty arrogant saying that — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheManchoMan (talk • contribs) 20:48, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
like i said before, as long as they are regularly assigned there it's still assigned and should not be reverted so quit your stubbornness and listen to reason and learn how to be logical about it — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheManchoMan (talk • contribs) 20:51, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
you see what i mean about my description of you kew gardens?
Your work is unnecessary and other editors that have worked on NYC Subway articles disagree with you. --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 21:13, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
wow just wow i knew you are completely stubborn and arrogant and don't give any logical reason as to why they should be reverted other than just disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheManchoMan (talk • contribs) 21:15, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
How am I arrogant? If your edits were useful I would be thanking you for them, but these edits are not. Can we both stop talking about it and ask other editors whether they prefer the articles before you edited them. I am fine with the edits if there is a consensus that they should be done. I am sorry that you are being offended. It is great to have another editor adding stuff to wikipedia. I know that you are a new user, so this is fine. I made some edits that other people didn't like concerning the NYC subway, when I first came on as well. --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 21:18, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
because of all the reasons i've stated above, you need to stop being so dismissive towards me and stop saying my edits are all useless, that's being dismissive TheManchoMan (talk) 21:22, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean my edits are useless nor are they wrong either, reverting people is not based on personal disagreements TheManchoMan (talk) 21:23, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
besides if my edits are useless then how come i went out of my way and try to explain to you then? you just keep saying they are wrong because you don't like them, that's being dismissive and that's not the way to be logical about it. TheManchoMan (talk) 21:26, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
- User:TheManchoMan, you need to convince others that your edits are a net improvement. We may be a 'free encyclopeda' but not all changes that people submit are accepted. It is up to consensus whether your work is improving these articles. Your own impression that you are working hard is not sufficient. EdJohnston (talk) 21:28, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Message from JoesphBarbaro
Hey Kew Gardens, I received a message from JoesphBarbaro on Wikimedia Commons today. It regards something on NYC Transit forums. It reads in part:
Also, I need to ask if you can please tell Kew Gardens aka Union Tpke to come here so that he and I can contact one another. Or you can please tell him to contact me at "Your MTA Wiki". I'm known as RollOver at both NYCT Forums and Your MTA Wiki. I really got to inform Kew Gardens aka Union Tpke about some member on NYCTF that repeatedly keeps downvoting his and my posts for literally no reason, so I wonder if he can send that person a private message and telling that person to knock it off.
Just a heads-up. Regards, epicgenius, presented by reddit.com/r/funny (talk) 15:02, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
DYK for New York City Subway
On 17 April 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article New York City Subway, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the New York City Subway is the largest rapid transit system in the world by number of stations, with 469 stations in operation? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/New York City Subway. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, New York City Subway), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Wikipedia and copyright
Hello Kew Gardens 613, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to History of the Long Island Rail Road has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 02:41, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- why can't it be put in a sandbox? It won't be published.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 22:46, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- We can't host copyright material anywhere on this wiki, not even in a sandbox. It's all visible to the public. — Diannaa (talk) 00:28, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. I thought that I had paraphrased enough but apparently I did not. It is a learning process. You have blocked revisions with the copy vio information. I would like to incorporate this information in the text, so could I be able to see the last revision prior to your removal of content so I can rewrite the material. I am not mad that you are doing this as this is teaching me how to become a better editor. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks. --Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 17:23, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- I can send it to you via email, but please don't post it on-wiki, not even in a sandbox. I do realize this will make it more difficult to assess what was removed and how to fix it; sorry about that. Email will be sent momentarily. — Diannaa (talk) 22:12, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- I rewrote the material, this time not going into as much detail and with the sentences restructured. If you feel that it is too close to the original text please inform me. Thanks again for sending the email.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 23:23, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- The bot did not flag any of these additions as being copyvio, so that's a good sign. I will review it in more detail later. — Diannaa (talk) 00:46, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks again for your help. This helps me improve as a writer in general as well. Have a good day. If you find anything else concerning please tell me. Thanks.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 10:54, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

Why do we need all that info about why the R won't be extended further into Manhattan or Queens? or that it no longer needs to skip 53rd and 45th Streets? or how much it costs? or the 4th Avenue relay impact? When the J was extended to Broad Street in 2015 or the weekend M to Essex Street in 2014, we just simply said they were being extended and why. I didn't see anything saying why can't the J go into Brooklyn or the M to Chambers, how much these extensions cost, or how it impacts other services. Also, the R extension will not happen until this Fall and some things can change along the way that can impact it, so I feel it it is too soon to mention so much detail since they can change frequently. Maybe it will extend to Midtown or Queens, maybe it will not happen at all.
First of all, you should sign your posts. Second of all, the fact that it is now stopping at some stations is important. How much it costs could be taken out.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 00:23, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- How do you sign posts? Okay, the 45th and 53rd Street stops should be mentioned, but I don't see the need to mention why the R will not be extended to Queens or Manhattan. There have been many other proposals to extend other subway services in the past, but I do not see them being mentioned anywhere in the articles. I only see information on changes that actually occurred. Same with what you just put for the W.
