AERO – Tribute to the Wind

Jarre held a very wet and muddy concert at the Gammel Vrå Enge Windmill Park near the city of Aalborg in Denmark, on September 7, 2002, with 40,000 spectators (including 5,000 VIPs). Danish band Safri Duo featured on the track "Aero", which in fact was Bourges 2 from the performance earlier that year, and Rendez-Vous 4. The concert was broadcast live on various TV stations around the world and a shortened one-hour version was made available for rebroadcast.[47][48]

By no fault of Jarre, due to 22 millimeters of rain and lack of proper preparation for and execution of the event, it took several hours for all people to be able to leave the area, and many cars were stuck until the next day. The problems subsequently became a big issue in Danish media, since, had there been an accident, it would be extremely difficult for help to get to the location. Two years previously, nine people were killed at Roskilde Festival, which had brought focus on security at large concerts. Preparations for AERO were later proven to have been lacking, and the police investigation concluded, in part, that permission for the concert should not have been granted.[49][50] Reactions from spectators were mixed, some claiming it was unsafe, and others saying it was a case of overreacting.[48]

A DVD set called Jarre in China was released in 2005 including the full concerts and various extras. The concerts were broadcast by Chinese TV station CCTV for the whole world by HDTV satellite. Oxygene 30th Anniversary Tour

On September 19, 2007, Jarre performed his Oxygène album at the Alfacam studios, Lint, Belgium, which was filmed with special 3D cameras. This recording was included on his CD+DVD Oxygene: New Master Recording, celebrating the album's 30th anniversary. The audience consisted of a very small number of invitees only.

Jarre then performed 10 Oxygene concerts in Paris, from December 12 to December 26, 2007. The concerts took place at the Théâtre Marigny, a small, 1000 seats theatre located in the Champs-Élysées. A high-definition recording of the final show was broadcast by Belgian channel EXQI, in January 2010.[60]

Indoors arena tour

During 2009 to 2012 Jarre performed an indoors tour, but with a different concept than his previous Oxygene tour. Jarre performed music from all of his best-selling albums, in a show with cutting-edge digital technology, lasers design and lighting choreography. Jarre at first also conceived HD video projections, but these were later cut from the show, as Jarre stated:

"I don't want the audience to think that they're watching a TV show. The visual aspect has to support the music, and not be the soundtrack of the visuals." [62]

The 2010 part of the tour was an upgraded version of his 2009 tour, with new visuals added such as giant image projections, and also performing outdoors on some occasions. Jarre first conceived it would evolve into a world tour, supposedly visiting America, Asia and Australia.[63][64][65] However, this was not the case.
