I noticed that you do edits on Canadian radio stations, so I thought you might be interested in seeing that I added the logo for CHAT-FM. BTW, I find your User page very interesting! Rudy2alan

Jian Ghomeshi - needs semi-protect?

Hi Bearcat

I reworked the Ghomeshi article but you didn't like the edits. Can you explain?

I didn't delete anything of consequence. There was a lot of overlap with the "Trial of Jian Ghomeshi" page so I transferred paragraphs from one article to another. I also removed some items about the bail and scheduling of the preliminary court proceedings because they are out-of-date. The trial is now completed.

The inclusion of the findings of the Rubin Report fairly represents her findings as well as the limitations of the report. The report acknowledged the limitations.

The "Trial by Media" section merely notes the discrepancy between the negative media coverage and the fact that he was successful at trial and the Carleton University investigation found no wrongdoing.

I referenced everything so I'm unclear what you find objectionable. Please note this was a highly publicized item with all major media outlets in Canada providing coverage. In addition, the court decision is available.

Thanks! User: WSDavitt

This AfD has, unfortunately, come out of the VF nominations. Your help is appreciated. - NeutralhomerTalk • 21:29 on September 10, 2016 (UTC)

You may care to take a look at newbie user User:PMRynn and his edits to the above. I suspect he is one half of the act, and may need a friendly shot across his bows re WP:COI. I would do so myself, but as the originator of the article, it might look a bit presumptive or whatever. Thanks,

Deletion of {{Persondata}}

Hi Bearcat,

I'm the bot who is deleting {{Persondata}}. I noticed your edit on Draft:Cassandra Leah Quave in which you added {{Persondata}}. This template is deprecated and deleted. Please stop adding {{Persondata}}. In case you want to support the Persondata project you can help with the migration of the dataset to Wikidata at KasparBot's tool. See Wikipedia:Persondata or contact my operator T.seppelt in case you have any questions.

Thank you very much, -- KasparBot (talk) 01:00, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

By the way, I forgot to thank you for the huge help on the Lauren Southern AfD making sure that votes were actually based on policy. It was closed as "no consensus", but I still appreciate your help educating the commenters at AfD, which unfortunately has even experienced editors making wonky statements these days. Happy editing! Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2016 Polaris Music Prize, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dream Warriors (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Second opinion requested

Hi Bearcat (or any talk-page watchers here). If you have a moment, would you be able to look at my recent edits at the Gerald Butts article, and if you have any input as to how I handled what I viewed as NPOV/BLP violations there. Much appreciated. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 02:50, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection

Hello, Bearcat. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Sandbox

Why do you work in my sandbox? I do not like this. It is a place for projects.--Buchbibliothek (talk) 18:08, 24 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is it a problem to have a red category in the sandbox? I asked an admin of dewiki and he said, as far as he knows, it is no problem. Thanks--Buchbibliothek (talk) 07:33, 29 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Johnny Ma requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Thanks for protecting the page. I have two questions:

  • Is there a way to figure out if CoryAllistair and User 71.41.58.34 is indeed the same person?
  • I looked over the history of this page and realized that there is a pattern of CoryAllistair adding some puff info to the page and it being reverted by another editor (last time was reverted by me, but before reverted by other editors), in light of that:
  1. Should CoryAllistair be listed on the talk page as COI
  2. Should CoryAllistair be blocked from editing this page for longer period of time?

Question

Should {{LGBT-bio-stub}} not also be a subcat of Category:LGBT people? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 20:57, 29 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Possible issue

Hi; I have noticed lately that you have CFD nominated a bunch of categories recently created by User:Mannerheimo. (All of the LGBT triple intersections, the Islamic feminists ones, etc.) I've done the same recently with some of the users' creations. The user seems to be quite prolific in creating categories that are either of questionable utility or have been previously deleted. In recent months the user has created a huge raft of categories like Category:I-Kiribati politicians of Chinese descent across all nationality and ethnicity combinations, for politicians, sportspeople, diplomats, and several other intersections – many of which were deleted in the past under different names, incidentally. Any insight into how we should proceed with this issue would be welcome. We can continue to nominate categories, but I'm afraid that over the past year he's creating far faster than we can delete. SOTUS: The Series

Hi Bearcat

I am the content creator of the above page SOTUS: The Series. However i have a problem, there is this 1 user by the name FM, he/she has been editing the page which i am currently editing (the series is 16 episodes long, and it's only the 6th episodes to date). FM has been changing one word from the original strawberry to pink, and i have just revert this issue for the 4th time, i am not sure what to do here, but i hope you could advise how should i go about it. Blocking the user or??. Thanks and appreciate it.Evan Weinstein | Talk 01:16, 1 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Category:20th-century American politicians has been nominated for discussion

Category:20th-century American politicians, which you created, has been nominated for possible deletion, merging, or renaming. A discussion is taking place to see if it abides with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. Rfc on Nathaniel Erskine-Smith Talk Page

Hi, i have started a new Rfc on the talk page of Nathaniel Erskine-Smith and i since you have made edits in the past on the above mentioned page I thought you might like to comment. -- Ntb613 (talk) 03:25, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lists of Canadian films

As creator of these lists (such as List of Canadian films of 2016) do you feel strongly about references in that final right hand side column? That column was not initially there in the layout for these pages, as I recall, but I'm happy to add a ref when I add films, if you feel it's necessary... thanks, Shawn in Montreal (talk) 20:44, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wasim Aftab director

Okay Wasim Aftab was deleted as a duplicate article and has been recreated as Wasim Aftab director but I'm not sure what the original one was so I can't put the db tag on it! Wgolf (talk) 05:25, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Pines

Hello Bearcat, Your comments on the Paul Pines notable person draft were very helpful. I have linked many more reliable sources adequately showing the subject's notability. I think it is ready for submission now. Could you check it out, suggest any changes and possibly approve it? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ogmany (talkcontribs) 23:51, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for Creation

There is no specific rule against an author moving their own article into article space. It isn't necessary to move it back into draft space. On Monday an editor moved their article on a salamander from draft space into article space because they got impatient with AFC. You moved it back into draft space. Was this because you thought that the move was not permitted, or that it wasn't ready for article (main) space? I used the reviewer Accept function and moved it to article space because I used the judgment that a named subspecies of vertebrate is ipso facto notable if a reliable source confirms that it exists. Articles can be moved from article space to draft space if they aren't ready for article space, although in that case I would prefer to say that the editor has made a gamble on AFD and nominate the article for deletion. Disruptive IP

That Malaysian IP user who was copy-pasting your move rationales has been getting increasingly disruptive. In the past few days, the editor has been blanking talk page comments ([1] and [2]), removing reliable sources that I add to articles ([3]), and breaking working links ([4], [5], etc). I brought this to ANI earlier (link), but not a single admin responded. Is there nothing that can be done about this? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 01:50, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Arslan Sheraz was not for promotional purposes

Hi, I hope you will be fine when you will get my message. Recently you've deleted one of article written by me about the Arslan Sheraz and marked as advertisement, promotional purpose which was neither for promotion nor for advertisement. Kindly undo that article because I've done a lot of hardwork for that, I searched google for 2 days for collecting his information. (talk page stalker)"Famously known for his Talented Skills"? That's promotional language (and poor grammar). --Orange Mike | Talk 03:47, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thank you so much for your positive response :) Yes you are saying right and I am agreed with you :) however if you can please undo this so I can remove the things which look likes promotional content or have poor grammar because rewriting the whole article will be very difficult or isn't it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AngelaRola (talkcontribs) 08:37, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hyderabad, India culture

My thinking on Category:Hyderabad, India culture was that since it was a merger rather than a rename, it had to go via CfD - is that not the case? There was content in both old and new cats.Le Deluge (talk) 07:58, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm trying to get the hang of creating some pages here. You seem to be a pro at this and have come and fixed some of my errors. What else do I need to do to make sure my pages don't get marked? HopeAnci (talk) 00:21, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File categories

Hey Bearcat, is this "images go in image categories, not article categories" a new policy? I think you're mistaken about this, as WP:FILECAT states "A category can mix articles and images, or a separate file/image category can be created". (This came to my attention from this diff.)
