The original film was inspired by the German fairy tale "Rapunzel" in the collection of folk tales published by the Brothers Grimm.

Feature films
- Tangled
Tangled is a 2010 American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy-comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Loosely based on the German fairy tale "Rapunzel" in the collection of folk tales published by the Brothers Grimm, it is the 50th Disney animated feature film. Featuring the voices of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi,[1] the film tells the story of a lost, young princess with long magical hair who yearns to leave her secluded tower. Against her mother's wishes, she accepts the aid of a handsome intruder to take her out into the world which she has never seen. Composer Alan Menken, who had worked on prior Disney animated features, returned to score Tangled.
- Frozen
Frozen is a 2013 American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy-comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Rapunzel and Eugene make a cameo appearance in this film; they are seen entering the castle of Arendelle for Elsa's coronation and pass by Anna when Anna is singing "For the First Time in Forever". In an interview with TV Line regarding Tangled: Before Ever After, Mandy Moore confirmed that it was Rapunzel and Eugene in Frozen, while disproving the fan theory stating that the parents of Anna and Elsa had died on their way to Rapunzel's and Eugene's wedding.[2]
