Extended confirmed users

TVGarfield - Yes. The automatic granting of the extended confirmed user right does so by taking all edits made by the account in order to determine if 500 edits and 30 days of tenure have been achieved and therefore given to the user. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:47, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

BilCat - I'm not opposed to that. So long as an admin is actively keeping an eye on things and can block the user as soon as they go off the walls, I typically do that somewhat regularly on wiki. There are situations I run into quite regularly where I'll choose to purposefully wait to block a user or apply protection to an article - and I do so in order to gather more evidence or data in order to help me build editing patterns and information. This allows me do things such as apply a larger block that will resolve LTA or socking attacks, or to connect accounts and editing similarities to other events and identify other disruption as directly related. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 04:45, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, I don't always block a clear sockpuppet until they've shown what they're all about. It would be valuable to know what's so important that one would spend an entire evening doing one-letter edits to get the permission, and it will give insight for the next time it happens. Hey Oshwah,

Thank you for protecting James Allsup. I just have a small request. I was going to request indef semi-protection on RPP but another editor beat me to it for temporary semi-protection. Based on this IP edit [2] (honestly, does him being 13% Asian (that he doesn't self identify as) make it impossible for him to be a white supremacist? sigh), I think the war over "white supremacy" will always be a issue (despite consensus reached in 2017) and I want to request either a longer semi-protection or indeff. Despite a consensus being reached new users and IPs may not be aware of it/care and I fear warring over "white supremacy" doesn't have an end in sight. Things that contributed to this fact were the content being worded in a manner that wasn't neutral and instead in a way that was making it appear as one. Another part of the content that added to this concern was the addition of the subject's contact and social media information and asking readers to learn more and join the cause by navigating to those links and to join. This makes the article an advertising page instead of an encyclopedia page, and was deleted due to this. Erika Harold reverted edits

Re: not adhering to neutral point of view. Existing entry says that her statement had been revealed and didn't include rebuttal. To be neutral and unbiased it should be noted that unverified and unnamed sources were involved, and the entry should include her rebuttal and current positions about gay adoption. There's also User talk:まるこめファンクラブ, which implies shared use. I think it was also created automatically. I thought accounts can only be created manually? Re: Warning

First of all, thank you for protecting the page. I included the information that was available per sources and the IP address kept reverting. Normally, I'd resolve it with user, but the changes were being made by different IP address, so I could not resolve the disputes with them. I am not sure why I am being warned for this. Hi Coderzombie! No problem; glad I could get that article under control. Since it's a content dispute, I have to be fair and apply warnings and take action in a manner that applies fairly, consistently, and to everyone involved. My thought process was that neither of you were warned for this, so I did so to you both - I treated you both the same, and I gave nobody an unfair consideration from policy.... However, I took another look at the history, and I see that a number of IPs made these changes where I had thought that most of them came from only one. This now changes things, as now it's not a "1 vs 1" content dispute - this is a dispute where the user is cycling IP addresses in order to continue the disruption. Hence, I've removed the warning I left you, and will be modifying the protection level and taking action against the IP range. I apologize for the interpretation of events that I based off of the information, and I hope you understand what I was trying to. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns, and I'll be happy to answer them. I cited a source and İlkay Gündoğan clearly admitted to himself that he's Muslim by saying Eid Mubarak to his Muslim friend. Can you add Emre Can since he's Muslim as well and he's born in Germany. Hi MidnightBlueMan! There were a lot of edits made on that article when I applied protection. I remember seeing edits that concerned me and that's what I used as a basis to apply semi protection for a short duration there, but I don't remember on the top of my head the exact details (I have a lot going on and lot happens between one issue I resolve and another, so please forgive my vague response here). I have a few things on my "to do" list that I'm going to complete first, and then I'll be happy to take a look and find where those concerns were. Are you concerned about the protection I applied and believe that it wasn't needed? I want to make sure that I understand any underlying concerns that you may have so that I can fully address them. Just let me know and yeah, I'll be happy to go over it with you. Shoot, who knows - I could be wrong and have used my admin tools inappropriately here... Hi Oshwah, thanks for your response, and apologies for my late reply. The fact that Dodd had died, but the reason for SP was concerned with BLP made me wonder about it, so I looked in a little more detail at the history. Having said that, I think I read somewhere that BLP might also apply to recently deceased individuals? Anyway, there were some reverts but maybe not sufficient for SP, but I acknowledge these decisions can be difficult to make at times. (talk page stalker) While I commend your efforts, it might be best to use WP:twinkle for now. When I was young, I had to manually revert each time and carried my warning templates on my back uphill both ways through the snow. Seriously, I've used it for years to automate my admin functions and it's been great. Oshwah uses Huggle, though I don't know what the criteria are to use it. Need to change name..

I suggested a edit to "Viralminda Nayanar", citing the name being wrong and it should be changed to Viranminda Nayanaar, with "n" instead of "l" and two 'a's in Nayanaar.

Being the name of the religious person worshiped by me, its wrong and pl change it asap.

My edits are *very* neutral.

Bearing in mind the reality of social processes in this specific issue, making judgement about appropriateness of my edit would require knowledge of Poland affairs and its history. I think that this article present the Person in biased manner, not include events mentioned by me, which are essential for the reader to understand his activity.

President Lech Walesa and his relations with the Person of this text is about are very important topic that should deserve additional sections. I hope that someone will publish larger and more complete notification in this very important issue.

Hi there, You seemed to have an issue with a recent edit I made on a page about Gerry Anderson (broadcaster). You told me that it wasn't constructive. I have to say I disagree with this statement as the city in reference which was originally stated as 'Derry' is not, in fact, called 'Derry'. The city in question is actually officially known as 'Londonderry'. I therefore fixed the term on the page as it was inaccurate. The city is called Londonderry, not Derry. Please allow this change to pass through as it would be a shame for inaccurate information to be printed on a page about any person or place.

Actually your edit was correct Oshwah. The city now calls itself Derry (though the charter still states Londonderry) and consensus on Wikipedia is to call it Derry. As a result Londonderry just redirects to Derry and the city page is at Derry. For reference this is covered in WP:DERRY. So I've reverted it back to before the IP edit. It doesn't seem to be that easy, sadly. We had an issue yesterday with an user who - in my opinion - vandalized an article and I accidentally reverted four times without counting. The vandal later told me I did a "good job" , confirming my decision. Differentiating between "indisputable" vandalism and good-faith horrible edits is not as easy as the rules might suggest. I would also be happy if a rule said something clear like "in case of an edit war, until consensus is reached, the original version of the article is considered correct." For me, my personal solution will be never reverting more than three times again, no matter how destructive the edit is. Abuse excuse

I removed that content because it was biased and unfounded. All they need is a brief mention of those cases, not a whole summary. If one is interested enough in reading why those cases used the "abuse excuse", they could read about it on those individual articles, they do not need a clearly skewed summary of them. Both of those summaries were very much skewed in the direction of the prosecution and Alan Dershowitz. The Cantonese Pronunciation of 二世祖 is NOT "Er Shi Zu" but is Ji6 Sai3 Zou2.

Qin Er Shi: Cantonese Pronunciation of 二世祖

In the popular culture section, it has listed a Cantonese phrase. And again, the phrase 二世祖 is NOT Er Shi Zu in Cantonese (most words in Cantonese are very different from Standard Chinese). In Cantonese, it is Ji6 Sai3 Zou2.
