Deletion of gibberish sandbox of blocked user?
User:Sandakuru/sandbox is a sandbox on an indeffed user. Normally I don't CSD those because I've never gotten a clear answer on whether or not run of the mill UP like sandboxes of vandals and socks are supposed to be procedurally deleted or not. However, this page contains odder ramblings including but not limited to slang words for vaginas. I was wondering if you take a look an advise me whether or not something along this line should be G10d in the future. Thanks, L3X1 (distænt write) 01:55, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
- L3X1 - It was G3'd, and (as far as I've read) would be better as a G3 than a G10. Either way, that page definitely needed to go :-). ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 14:12, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

- There are sources now, of course. But at the time, were were none. This is why I removed the template from that page after protection was applied. Since this article is a biography of a living person, we must be careful with how we assert and formulate content - especially when it comes to one's death or a claim of such. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Best -- ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 14:08, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

So you consider a small message of support, effectively invisible all but TRM and stalkers of my edits, to be inappropriate, but the grave-dancing trolls on Gorilla Warfare's talk page you'll ignore? Is it because of double standards, or because they are your fellow admins? I wait with baited breath for you to remove their trolling. – SchroCat (talk) 21:03, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

An I.P address is destroying the “Kalki” wikipedia article.
Link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:History/Kalki
So far the i.p address has
- vandalised
- engaged in revert war
- attacked personal talk pages
- used gibberish as the reason for their edits
Honestly, Dude seems to be retarded. Hoping you protect the page in the meantime. Thank you. ShotgunMavericks ❯❯❯ 🕊✍🏻 12:26, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
- ShotgunMavericks - It looks like that page is protected now. If the disruption continues after the protection expires, file an AIV report and we'll take a look at it. Tom Waits genre
Hi, I am inviting past editors of the Tom Waits article to contribute to the discussion at Talk:Tom_Waits#Genres. I am in dispute with User:TheOldJacobite, who has reverted even my sourced changes and ignored my appeals to discuss the issue. Please express your opinion on the issue if it interests you.--MASHAUNIX 18:04, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
How to proceed?
Some French biologist has been, apparently, accused of sexual harassment. Not sure if the source is RS. Opened ticket on BLPN, but the person adding the info can't read instructions and just edit wars. Nobody is paying attention. :o( Suggestions? Help? Thanks Jim1138 (talk) 18:26, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
Getting some comments there! Jim1138 (talk) 01:30, 6 October 2017 (UTC)

Can you take a look at Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Paul2520? There's no way he's going to pass this, and a close under WP:SNOW or WP:NOTNOW would probably be helpful, as it will prevent all the pile-on opposes. We probably don't want to discourage him. - ThePlatypusofDoom - Hey, sorry for the late response. It looks like the RfA has already closed (which is good - stack-on opposes can really be a let-down to someone. It can be quite discouraging...). Thanks for the message about this - let me know if you need me for anything else and I'll be happy to help. Wikicology
You have got to be kidding. You have advocated for Wikicology's return to Wikipedia? Who is going to clean up all 500 of the blatantly misleading, incorrect, and falsely cited articles that Wikicology created? Softlavender (talk) 20:07, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

- I've decided to withdraw my offer looking at the evidence supplied and the strong and numerous arguments in opposition to the move. Thanks for posting your concerns - I think you helped me (and the community) dodge a bullet! haha! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:26, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks, Oshwah. No worries. He targets "nice" admins who don't know his backstory and sells them a bill of goods. I'm very sorry you got caught in the net. - Softlavender: In all fairness, I think (and I'm sure the whole community thinks) Oshwah had good intentions. I'm all for welcoming back editors that have matured after, say, engaging in vandalism - but WC was site-banned for a good reason. It goes to show, in my opinion, that age does not necessarily equal maturity - we do, after all, have some great young editors on here (and even Oshwah was at one point!) - Softlavender, no, not at all, I'm simply agreeing with you that he did. I know Oshwah is a friend of yours: it just struck me as odd that you took him to ANI to deal with the matter when you could've discussed it here. Still though, at least it's been sorted out now. - Come now, children. Everyone knows that Oshwah is re-energised by my accidentally dubbing him "Oshwash". It's quite simple -- if you feel an overwhelming need to argue as to whose friend you are, or whose friend you have or have not insulted, just replace part of their name with "wash". Other than that, chill out. Oshwash has, and so will you. MPS1992 (talk) 23:28, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

"Oshwash"... now that's hilarious! I had a good laugh with that one :-). I'll take the reigns and jump in here (maybe I should have done so sooner - I apologize) and say this: No, I don't take it personally at all that the discussion went to ANI. Nope, I'm not upset with anybody. And no, I'm not offended nor do I think anybody did anything wrong. If I fuck up or do something that you legitimately feel needs to be brought to ANI, by all means... you will not upset me and I will not take it personally if you drag my ass there. Part of my responsibility and my duty is to serve you - the community and my judgment and my decisions should reflect such. Now, that doesn't mean that we'll have our disagreements or that I'll enforce policy if I need to (I'm sure you know that). I'm not perfect, and I will never ever be. I just want you to understand that I try to be inclusive, open, respectful, and offer help to anyone - but if you feel that it's a bad idea (such as this case), I have a completely open door policy. I hope that you can feel comfortable coming to me directly with concerns, but if you don't... I encourage you to speak up and say something! If anything, you're doing me (and more importantly, the community) a huge favor. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:32, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- I was one of Wikicology's biggest detractors, back in the day, so just a quick note that I don't think you did anything wrong, either as Oshwah or as Oshwash. Being open to new possibilities is always a good thing. This possibility did not turn out to be a possibility, but, no big deal at all. MPS1992 (talk) 00:42, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- PatientZero, please stop your bullshit. I did not take Oshwah to ANI. I notified him here that I had opened a discussion on ANI regarding an issue with which he was involved, as my notification states. I did not assume that Oshwah had anything but good-faith intentions, and your original post here was clearly a correction addressed to me implying that I had assumed otherwise, which you then denied even though your wording and linkage was clear. Softlavender (talk) 02:14, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- I have no interest in continuing this discussion with you if you are going to resort to incivility. I have made myself clear in the sense that I was not correcting you nor was I assuming bad faith. Thank you, Oshwah - your response is very much appreciated. And as for MPS1992, thanks for attempting to mediate the situation. I shall be gracious and not respond any further to this conversation. Dear Oshwah
I feel that you are mistaken about me editing Bobby Flay's article, as I have not visited his wikipedia site. Based on that, I have not made an error.

Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users
? MPS1992 (talk) 00:47, 10 October 2017 (UTC)- Please do not ping me again in regard to this matter. Your obsession with it is concerning. There are no disclaimers at the IP's TP. I'm sure Osh did all his usual checks before leaving the original warning. It seems unlikely that the IP address would be re-allocated in such short time to another user who just coincidentally came on to Wikipedia and only posted at this TP. Overenthusiastic reversion of edits to Daniel Lyons article
While I agree with your reversion of some recent material in the Daniel Lyons article, I think reverting 804122343 was an error on your part.
The article body and references do indeed amply support the statement that Lyons is best known, at least at the present time, for his series of major "mea culpa" reversals and apologies for errors in his journalism. In light of recent revelations and news about Lyons, your reverting the article all the way back to WWB's version which does not mention these facts about Lyons at all in its opening paragraphs renders it unbalanced. I believe you should restore the content of 804122343 to the article body. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tls (talk • contribs) 00:41, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
- Tls - The reversion I made here removed unreferenced BLP violations. There were other edits that contained violations that were from anonymous users, which is why I added pending changes protection to the article. Please let me know if you have any more questions, and Ill be happy to answer them. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:14, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello User:Oshwah. As you are the administrator who blocked the last sockpuppets (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sleeping is fun/Archive#07 September 2017), could you please block the new sockpuppets (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Inevitaaaron)? - Adam9007 - Good call. Here is a quote of what I said on my talk page to someone who asked about reporting an incident to the emergency team back in July (with some changes); I think it fits here as well: "Yes... I am 99% sure that this is trolling. Of course. The important thing that we must understand is that we are neither trained nor qualified to make the determination when it comes to the validity of threats of harm and if they're serious. The guidelines state that we must take every threat (such as this) as if they were made with full merit and with serious intentions. Sigh... yes, I feel like I'm wasting the emergency team's time with 95% of the reports I submit, but this is our responsibility and we must do so."

That someone was, amongst others, me . Adam9007 (talk) 02:23, 17 October 2017 (UTC)- Adam9007 - Yeah, I went through the account's user page history and saw that too. It gave me pause as well, but who knows... maybe the user doesn't understand the difference between a block and a ban here. If you think about it, our definition of a "ban" compared to how most forums, chat and messaging hosts, websites, etc define it is completely different. A "block" here is the exact equivalent of what most other sites define as a "ban" - the inability to participate, chat, change, visit, whatever - for a particular amount of time. Obviously, the step down from a "ban" in most other places is a "kick", where they just show you the door but don't tell you to "stay out"... lol :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:32, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Hey Oshwah, those articles you've been protecting about those historical battles, I'm protecting them for a year. There is no harm in doing this, and if next year he comes back I'm protecting them indefinitely. He's making these little bitty edits (flags, cn tags) to get autoconfirmed so he can edit the ones he's really interested in... Thanks, Drmies (talk) 01:15, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

Do you think you could add a searchbox to your talkpage archives? For those of us who want to, you know, search stuff. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:19, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page gnome) I imagine a userbox: "This editor likes searching Oshwah's userspace. Do you?" If it's not a joke, such search boxes can be placed anywhere including on your user pages, of course... Hmm in this case these manual archives are not under User_talk:Oshwah/* but directly under User:Oshwah/*. If considered useful, the following (see source to copy/move) should allow searching them (including other subpages and excluding this talk page, however):

Hi Oshwah, could you (or a watching admin) take a look at this IP's contributions? They are just coming off of a week's block for edit warring, and are falling into the same pattern again. Doug Waterhouse
Dear Oshwah,
My name is Annika and Jon, Doug's son is my godfather. he always tells me stories of his father and mother but has a habit of leaving out details which is why so little information was provided.
I would be glad to let my godfather, Jon, write about his father himself but unfortunately, he is in the hospital with kidney stones.
Sorry for any inconvenience — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.195.112.199 (talk) 09:47, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi there, and thank you for leaving me a message regarding the edit you made here to Doug Waterhouse. I understand that you have personal experience and knowledge regarding this person due to your claim of being in relation to the subject. While it's tempting to simply add and update information to this article, it's not something that should be done if the only source or reference you can provide to back up the claims are... well, yourself. This is what is known as original research -- adding content to a Wikipedia article based solely off of your research (be it experience, personal knowledge, writings, reports, or even published sources or articles). Original research is not allowed on Wikipedia. Your edits are also not in compliance with Wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest, since you claim to be closely related to the subject. I highly recommend that you review the two policies and guidelines I listed here, and let me know if you have any questions about them. Thanks again for the message and I appreciate your understanding. Best -- ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:05, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

- (talk page gnome) @Chris troutman: Hmm I noticed the static-IP address tag but I doubt it, considering dyn is found in the hostname. Any other evidence that it may be? Some dynamic addresses can still be assigned a while to a connection however, often needing a modem reboot/connection reset to refresh it... This is of course unrelated to the brother claim. Thanks, —PaleoNeonate – 18:48, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- PaleoNeonate - In this case (residential ISP with direct IP allocation), that usually just means that the IP isn't static and that if the user changes their modem's MAC (or disconnects it long enough for the lease to expire and go back into the DHCP pool), they'll be allocated a new IP. I wouldn't put too much in-depth thought into this IP... I'm pretty confident that this won't happen ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:53, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- @PaleoNeonate: whatismyipaddress.com says it's static. That's what I go by since I know nothing else from a technical point of view. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:03, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

- Doug Weller - Oh, joy... Interesting. I scrolled down the SPI and quickly looked through the IPs reported in the archives. I'm wondering (since this obviously is not the only IP range this guy bounces though) if these IPs from the school range I mentioned on your talk page are proxies or VPNs? Again, I haven't ran any of the other IPs listed at the SPI, so there may be things I'm not seeing yet until I do. I do call this into question, as well as whether or not we should see if they are and take action from there... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:33, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

"Peshawar museum" page
Hi, I have seen that you removed my edit from the "Peshawar museum" page. I think that this is a mistake, since the information that I reported can be of great utility for the reader, being the museum in question a very important one for Gandahar art. I made the edit for two reasons: one is that I was seriously pissed off when I myself tried to visit the museum with no result (and it was the main reason for my visit to Peshawar), since nobody had modified the page in question like I tried to do; the other is that during my stay in Pakistan I learnt about a scholar who was coming from Englad to study that museum and again, I wished somebody could have told him beforehand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FrancescoNapoli (talk • contribs) 22:24, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

However, I think that you should start small and don't let yourself bite off more than you can chew, and that what you're doing is exactly that and extremely so. The fact that A) you're very new here, B) you're attempting to practice and use one of Wikipedia's many powerful automated tools that will jump and do what you tell it to do (even if it makes a huge mess), and C) the page that you'd like to use it to modify is one of Wikipedia's most highly watched and contributed-to noticeboards that handle Wikipedia's highest level of issues and incidents - will will definitely get you into hot water "for being careless" if you make a mess there. You made a mistake
Please explain how my change was not constructive. Do you prefer employing propagandistic terminology on Wikipedia? Because technically the word "cult" is considered by many sociologists to be fundamentally pop culture terminology and entirely unconstructive for actual research or greater understanding of these groups. Want to go ahead and remove all references to the word "cult" as well? If removing propagandistic language and replacing with the vernacular "pyramid scheme" is "unconstructive" then I would suggest you reconsider how you're using that term. Correct terminology is fundamentally important. If you don't believe that, what are you doing on here?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.246.175.111 (talk • contribs)
- Changing content to call a company a "pyramid scheme" is highly against Wikipedia's policy on reflecting a neutral point of view in article content, and implies highly contentious accusations due to its meaning. This is why I reverted your edit made to the article. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:24, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
I can provide sources for use of that term in this case (Bloomberg, Forbes, etc have covered this story.) It's not my personal point of view. Is quality sourcing also highly against Wikipedia's policy? That would be very odd.
I will also include sourcing for why the term "cult" is no longer used in academic work. Will you please remove all uses of the term "cult" across Wikipedia as well? Does that seem appropriate to you? Again, not a personal opinion- verifiable, real life, fact.
- If you have references to cite alongside the content and you neutrally describe the events (such as "described this company as", something like that) - then that should be fine. But changing content in a manner that directly states that the company is one (such as the edit you made) is a different story. There's a huge difference that I hope you see and understand. Let me know if you have any questions or if I can help you with anything else. I'll be happy to do so. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:58, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

What would be not constructive
In my edit, I simply explained that the school has closed, and you stated that my edit was not constructive. I would argue that it is not constructive to have old information about a school that no longer exists. Can you explain what would not be constructive about saying that a school has closed in an article?97.77.162.99 (talk) 13:45, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

- (edit conflict) - Adding to what Bobherry explained above - your edit here not only removed content, but also made an assertion that was not referenced by a source. Dj Deep page
Hello
I am Cyril Etienne des Rosaies, Dj Deep. I would have liked to kindly ask for your help on getting my page up and running on the English version of Wikipedia. On the French version it is fine, it is me, i started djing with Laurent Garnier in 1988 and have been touring since then, releasing Music and running my label Deeply Rooted. It seems that a German Dj since then has been using the same artist name, as well as a South African DJ also now calling himself Dj Deep. I don't know how to proceed so my page could be up and running? Would it be a possibility to have Dj Deep (DE) and Dj Deep (SA) for the other artists? I believe i am the one who professionally started to work first? Thanks in advance for your help and reply. Best. Cyril — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cyrildeep1234 (talk • contribs)
- Hi Cyrildeep1234, and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears that you are the person that this article is about, is that correct? If so, then there are issues regarding Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines that you need to read and understand. Basically, you need to separate yourself from this article entirely and contribute to other articles that you don't have a conflict of interest with instead. Let me know if you have any questions about the guideline I linked you to here, and I'll be happy to answer them. On a side note: your edit to the article here was problematic for multiple reasons. Please avoid making edits here if you are the subject of the article. Thanks :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 14:22, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Girls' Generation 2nd opinion on indefinite semi protection
Hello. Yesterday I semi protected this for 1 month on a RFPP request for indefinite protection. I had a request today to reinstate indefinite semi protection, as was done back in 2010. I did so, but isn't that a bit excessive? I feel as though I've outdone myself. What do you think? Dlohcierekim (talk) 16:56, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- (comment by talk page stalker): Now that I've seen the length of the protection log I would agree with the indefinite semiprotection. EdJohnston (talk) 17:02, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- EdJohnston - I agree that the protection log is quite long, but it looks like a significant amount of them were from very short-term article protection changes made over the course of this month. Previous protection before this month was made back in November 2011. In all honesty, when it comes down to the meat and butter of it: I don't think there's a wrong answer when it comes to administrators that choose to apply indefinite article protection. I just personally feel that they're not necessary and I just choose to keep them (at most) as long as six months, maybe a year :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:23, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Hi Dlohcierekim! Excellent question! I apply indefinite protection to an article extremely rarely; usually in cases of Arbitration Enforcement, significant long-term gross abuse of a BLP, or a frequent target of school IP vandalism - and even then, I apply the lowest protection level necessary (usually pending changes or maybe semi). I'm kind of known as the person who applies shorter protection duration than many reporters or editors want to see, simply because of the fact that most reasons that protection is needed is due to disruption that's much shorter in time than we think it is. I'll run into an article that (upon looking at the history) is suddenly getting hit up frequently (or even heavily) with vandalism by numerous IPs and new users out of nowhere, and I'm mostly always successful with stopping it completely by applying semi-protection to it for just six hours - so in cases like this, I say go with your gut. Looking at this article and the edits recently made, I agree with your assertion that indefinite semi-protection is definitely not needed. If anything, apply it for a few months. Worst case scenario: the protection will expire, we'll see that whatever is causing the article to get hit up with disruptive edits is continuing to happen, and we'll just add it back and extend the protection again. Best case scenario? People get over it, and everyone can edit the article - which is what Wikipedia is all about ;-). Let me know if you need any input or help with anything else, and I'll be happy to do so :-). Cheers -- ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:19, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Three months is what I'd give it, with a hair trigger for reimposing it after that. In terms of the scale of melodrama involved, this is the Beatles breakup of K-pop. Leif Erikson day edits
I keep seeing a controversy page added on the Leif Erikson Day page, however the "controversy" is both unclear, and limited strictly to Donald Trump making a declaration on the next day. How, exactly, is that controversial? and if it is controversial, wouldn't EVERY instance of any other president not making that declaration on that day be needed as well? otherwise it seems superfluous — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.224.107.100 (talk) 20:02, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

The material was added by an IP editor with a link or two to the White House website, and then an account added a couple of other links to it--but nothing from reliable secondary sources. I am not sure that in subsequent reverts the restorers looked carefully at the references, on the one hand, but on the other, IP editor, until your last revert you had presented no valid argument. Had you said "these aren't reliable secondary sources, which is necessary to even prove there is a 'controversy'", yeah. Drmies (talk) 21:19, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

London/derry
The city's called Londonderry...I don't understand? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.64.28.211 (talk) 21:06, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- Doesn't matter: the article discussed the diocese, not the city. Drmies (talk) 21:09, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- From Derry: "While the city is more usually known colloquially as Derry, Londonderry is also commonly used and remains the legal name"--but even that doesn't apply to the name of the diocese. Drmies (talk) 21:14, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Huggle 3.3.2?
Hi,
I noticed you're using Huggle 3.3.2, but the Huggle site and Huggle itself say the latest version is 3.3.1. How come you're on 3.3.2? Adam9007 (talk) 00:16, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- Adam9007 - I'm working with the dev team and testing the next release for issues before it goes public. It should be put up after a few more things are finalized, so stay tuned ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:19, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
HAN
Hi,
I noticed HAN is back up. I see statements like "Oshwah thinks that edit on enwiki to some article by someone (some number) is likely a vandalism, but they didn't revert it" and "Oshwah did a rollback on enwiki of some article by someone (some number)". Do you know under what circumstances these messages appear? There's a "Flag as a suspicious edit" function; does this have anything to do with it? Thanks. Adam9007 (talk) 01:31, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- Adam9007 - I'm honestly not sure. I've been noticing the same exact thing - they'll occasionally work and be listed as they occur, and at other times I'll see nothing at all. I'll need to ask the devs and find out. I'm not proficient with their project and code yet... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:53, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Please know that you're always welcome to message me if you have any questions or need input with any admin-related decisions. I remember my first month as an admin being quite an interesting phase. 1. Dispute Resolution Noticeboard: Since the parties are not obligated to comply with the advise of DRN moderator, what's the solution when someone is sure that the other parties are not going to agree with him anyway and a ruling from a judge is essential. I am sure DRN is not an option in this case. Could "Mediation" be an option? Is any user, even an administrator obligated to comply with the advise of Mediation Committee? If not, then is "Arbitration" an option? Is any user, even an administrator obligated to comply with the advise of Arbitration Committee?
2. What’s the difference between Dispute Resolution Noticeboard and a specialized noticeboard such as “Fringe theory noticeboard”? I know specialized noticeboards are subject specific. But my question is that whether the moderators in “Fringe theory noticeboard” are only administrators or general users as well? If there are general users as well, how can I become a fringe theory noticeboard volunteer? Do I need to list my username anywhere and/or add any template in my user page?
3. When I am in a dispute with a couple of admins in a Wikipedia page, what’s the process of reporting those abusive admins. Let’s say, the admins are reverting any edit that is against their personal views and beliefs. And those admins need to be removed from the page. The Wikipedia manual says as admins can be removed through a dispute resolution process. But it doesn’t explain how. Because DRN moderator or Mediation committee may not be able to remove an administrator. So, if an user is in dispute with administrators, should he directly file a case to Arbitration Committee?
4. How can I add a new section and subsection to a Wiki article and remove an existing section from a Wiki article in visual editor?
5. I found that some contributions are deleted from “History” page of an article. So how to delete a contribution and who can do it?
6. Wiki policy states as I should not copy contents from other websites and should rather write my own contents. But what if the contents are open source contents? Can I directly copy those in Wikipedia? Are online news posts open source, including the images in the news? Can I use these texts and images in Wikipedia without editing? Can I copy and paste statements of medical national and international organizations in Wikipedia without editing?
7. Where to find images for a Wikiedia article if the image is not already available in Wikimedia? Are the images collected from news posts open source? And many sites don't have their images copyrighted. Do those images qualify as open source? When I upload an image, Wikipedia asks for copyright information. I have no idea what information to provide? What info should I provide if the image is in open source? And if the image is owned by me? Wikipedia asks me to contact the copyright holder and ask them for copyright information for the image. But some websites don't have "Contact us" section, some other sites are unresponsive when they are contacted, and even when I contact a website owner, he may not be able to provide me copyright information as the images are not copyrighted. So what information to provide Wikipedia in such a case? How do Wikipedia verify if the images are already copyrighted or not. If I claim to be granted permission for reuse from the copyright holder, how does Wikipedia verify the copyright holder has actually granted me permission for reuse of the copyrighted content?
8. How to add videos to a Wikipedia article? Do I need to provide copyright information for a video available in Youtube? Are there other policies on videos such as policies for graphic videos?
9. When I create a new article, how do I save my private draft for the article. If I click on "Save", the draft will become public and will be accessible for anyone. But I like it to be private. Is it possible. Furthermore, when I edit on an existing article, is there a way I can save my edits as a draft before publishing? It is an essential function. Because some posts may be very long and will take a long time to write. So, my unsaved works can be lost if browser tab is closed or if the texts are accidentally selected and deleted. So saving draft is essential.
10. Where can I save the usernames of my co-writers in my Wikipedia account like a phone book? I can't memorize the usernames of every persons. Thus, I need to have a phone book when the usernames will be saved in the respective categories.
11. How can I be connected with the community to improve each Wikipedia article? I know each important article is being monitored by some administrators. But how do I know which administrators is monitoring a page so that I can discuss with them about improving the article? How to get connected with the community for editing articles? I heard that communication is important here. But how? Everyone is stranger here. Whom to contact among these random people?
12. What’s the use of pending changes reviewing by administrators and “pending change reviewers”? As much as I know anyone can revert another user’s edit. In that case, what will change if an edit is approved by an administrator or a “Pending changes reviewer”? Will other users be unable to revert the edit back then? If not, then what’s the use of pending changes reviewing? Furthermore, how do the users know an edit has been approved by a administrator or a pending changes reviewers? Will the approval appear anywhere such as in the “History” page?
13. What’s the requirement and process for becoming a pending changes reviewer? Can anyone become a pending changes reviewer?

- Hi Abir Babu! Holy cow! You have quite a lot of good questions here! What I'm going to do is answer your questions one-at-a-time and in-line with your questions here, just so my answers don't come out as a big list and pile of stuff :-). Give me some time, and I'll be happy to make sure that your questions are answered. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:22, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

- (talk page gnome) @Abir Babu: I think that Oshwah's answers were excellent. I would only like to add precisions about
But how do I know which administrators is monitoring a page so that I can discuss with them about improving the article? How to get connected with the community for editing articles?
: Administrators and non-administrators can monitor recent changes and their watchlist is private. If they don't create a public watchlist for use with WP:Related changes then only their interactions or actions may give clues about what they are monitoring. In relation to community discussion, Oshwah already mentioned WikiProjects and the noticeboards were previously discussed. However, every article has an associated talk page to discuss improvements and form consensus (although they are not general discussion forums). I hope this helps, —PaleoNeonate – 18:46, 19 October 2017 (UTC)- I love it, PaleoNeonate! Thanks! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:58, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Strange user page
Hi again,
Do you reckon this user page is anything to be concerned about? Adam9007 (talk) 23:48, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- Patent nonsense... I just chucked it into the circular waste bin :-). And no; it didn't make any threats of harm, so I think we can call things good at this point. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:51, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hate to nitpick, but G1 doesn't apply to user pages... Adam9007 (talk) 23:52, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- Oh fuck... alright... G3 it is, then. There's absolutely no way that the content on this page could be construed as good faith, or that this person's intent was anything else other than to be disruptive. And thanks, good call. Even though I don't necessarily agree that it shouldn't apply :-P ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:56, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- I don't see why deliberate nonsense shouldn't apply, but that can come under vandalism can't it? Adam9007 (talk) 23:59, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- I think that it does. I highly doubt that anybody is going to object to the deletion, whether it be under G3 or a different one that it would fall under. If someone wants to object to it and put their username in a log entry that says "I restored this content", then they're welcome to make that dumb choice and have at it :-P ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:04, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
- Another thing has occurred to me: G1 means nonsense as in gibberish, right? Nonsense as in untruth is vandalism (assuming it's deliberate)? I've always taken "patent nonsense" to mean gibberish. Adam9007 (talk) 00:07, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
- Adam9007 - Correct. That's what G1 is supposed to be used for - whether it be pure gibberish (create a new page, literally sling an open hand across your entire keyboard as it were piano keys, and then save it) - or content that is purely random in words and to the point that you don't even know what the article subject is about and where no reasonable person would be expected to make any sense of it at all (a Word salad is a perfect example. Or, think of it like this: Go on the internet and find a random paragraph of text. Now re-arrange each word in the paragraph like you're shuffling a deck of cards, and then paste the randomly arranged muck and mess that is the result into a new page, and then save it). Hopefully what I explained makes sense as to exactly what page content that G1 is supposed used to tag. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 04:27, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Garden Weasel
Hello? Oshua? Is that you?
See... it's a funny story. I was watching Strong Bad Emails all day today, and watching one of the episodes, a garden weasel got involved. I was baffled by its design and its name, so I tried to look up what a garden weasel was supposed to be, and what it did.
I could not access any helpful information on what a garden weasel is and is used for. Every time I put "garden weasel" in the search bar, it would relocate me to the company that manufactures them... or, come to think of it, I doubt they even have anything to do with garden weasels. I want to know what the heck garden weasels are, that's all.
Sincerely,
A hungry fox down the street. 73.221.190.41 (talk)
New User Page Mess re: Neil Gross page THANK YOU!
- 1stCoastal - Okay... it looks like I've gotten most of the histories merged from Draft:Neil Gross to Neil Gross with the exception of two edits that were made outside the latest revision in the draft and the oldest revision in the live article... yay. I'll just need to go back and merge those in manually. I'll swing back around and get that part done after I finish up with some other tasks that have priority. Again, I sincerely apologize for how long it took for me to respond to your request for help and get this done for you. Which part of my edit message
- Moved section about Shannon capacity and Lovasz number to "tensor product of graphs", which is the graph product actually used in that setting
is it you don't understand? It is painfully obvious, if one bothers to read the definition in Lovasz's paper (see reference in article), that what he calls the 'strong graph product' is not what Wikipedia calls the 'strong graph product'. 130.243.68.6 (talk) 14:14, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

I clicked on the "thanks" option, but wanted to add this public message as well. Best wishes. Cybersub (talk) 17:34, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Cybersub! Thanks for taking the time to leave me a message, and for your kind words. You bet; always happy to help :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:55, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

- My pleasure, Oshwah. Can anything be done about MattInAction? Can s/he be blocked because of what they did? (By the way, I've no idea why "puto deja de cambiar lo que pongo" has suddenly appeared above! Trying to translate it doesn't really give any clues, either.) Hi,
I rather think the article was biased before I changed it. You know why? Because it is what people who are not highly intelligent always do to us. Not believe us. Talk negatively about us. Question us. So if you want wikipedia to be a place where this does not happen as hard as in real life, I suggest you leave my comments in. Further I suggest you leave them in because you cannot judge them properly. Or can you? I take it that your IQ is not above 140 and you do not have my life experience on the matter...? If you need a citation for it, kindly ask Holger Schackert from Berlin to provide one. He is my coach and works with lots of highly gifted people. You do not have to reply to this. Actually I am tired of talking to normals. Just do what you think is best, although I fear you might be like most normal people who just are not able to think properly, so you might just do anything.

- Writ Keeper - I was simply removing the username from the two user talk pages, just because it's very similar to Sro23's username, and a new user who doesn't know which username is the "real Sro23" might become confused. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:43, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's what I figured. But you revdeled the performing user's username on both the edit itself and its reversion, even though the reversion was performed by SkyWarrior and not the sock. So you revdeled SkyWarrior's username, while leaving their edit summary--which did have the sock's name--intact. I think you meant instead to revdel the username of the initial edit and the edit summary of the reversion, which is what I adjusted it to. Just wanted to make sure that was your goal. :) Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 20:47, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Wildflower reverse edits
Hi there, Although I didn’t write the original entry regarding two extended casts, I believe the content is not correct and there’s is no evidence that these two characters exist in this teleserye. I believe it was written in by someone with the intent to vandalize or the writer had presumed these characters exist and these were the actors portraying them. Someone else later edited these statements out, and I believe it should be out because these characters don’t exist. The actors portraying them have denied being casted. I’m new to this, I simply love to write and edit, so I don’t know if this is the proper venue. But if you’re an administrator or senior editor, I thought I would let you know.
The statement is this: * KC Concepcion as young Helena - It was shown in some episodes about Red Dragon's past and her affiliation with the Ardientes. She is the sister of Esmeralda and Clarita.
- Dionne Monsanto as Megan Montoya - The vicious daughter of Helena or Red Dragon who despises Lily Cruz. She is the long-lost half-sister of Emilia. She also pretended as the fake Angela Aguas when she met Lily in the state of Ivy.

- Hi Pipamidalton! Welcome to Wikipedia! If you think something isn't right, you're encouraged to be bold and fix it! You don't need to "ask permission" or "get approval" to make improvements; nobody has ownership of content on Wikipedia. We won't run after you with torches and pitchforks if you simply make a mistake in good faith - it's a normal part of learning and we don't expect you to be perfect here. Hell, I've made plenty of mistakes during my time here, so if anything I completely understand. The thing is: don't be afraid to improve things, make sure you leave an edit summary with each of your changes so that other editors understand what you're doing and why, take note on the feedback left to you by others so that you can learn and ask questions later, and don't be afraid to message other editors if you have any questions. My talk page is always open to you, and you are welcome to message me any time you have questions or need help with anything. Again, I welcome you to Wikipedia and I wish you happy editing! We're glad to have you here! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:45, 25 October 2017 (UTC)

text contributed to plot for showdown at boot hill was taken from IMDB and Wikipedia with some grammar changes. How can describing the plot be incorrect? All I left out was that the marshal survived, but that eliminates the suspense. Go figure. 113.97.175.213 (talk) 07:36, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

- Hi Atsme! I apologize for the delayed response to your message here. There's no "set amount" of times that someone must be warned before an administrator can block an editor for disruption. Depending on what the disruption actually is and the severity of the disruption, I try to block after I feel that the editor has been sufficiently warned for the behavior and has shown that they're going to continue the behavior despite the warnings. I'll take a look at this IP's edits, but blocking it is most likely moot at this point, as the person has probably moved on. Thanks again for the message. ClueBot NG Warnings
Hi Oshwah,
I have recently noticed that you've template-protected the ClueBot NG warnings page. I was wondering if you or another template editor could edit them to include the shared IP template to each of those pages as we do have registered user accounts having those types of messages and people who are in a shared IP address who viewed these messages may be confused as they didn't make the edits.
For example, (this is made-up), an IP address, something like 75.156.231.92 has vandali(s/z)ed the page James Mackenzie (actor) which you've reverted recently, the warning would something like this :-
December 2024
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to James Mackenzie (actor) has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.
- ClueBot NG makes very few mistakes, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made was constructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this message from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
- For help, take a look at the introduction.
- The following is the log entry regarding this message: James Mackenzie (actor) was changed by 75.156.231.92 (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.934212 on 2017-10-25T18:58:12+00:00 ..
Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 18:58, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
See what you think of this suggestion. Cheers, Iggy (talk) 18:58, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Iggy the Swan! Yes, the warnings by ClueBot NG are now template protected (and quite frankly should have been quite some time ago). A vandal managed to find and change some of the warning templates so that ClueBot started leaving uncivil abusive messages on user talk pages. I luckily caught it as soon as it happened and managed to revert the changes before any damage was done (only two people were left the modified messages, which I manually fixed). That could have been much worse - especially if it managed to be left unchecked even for a few minutes. That shared IP message you're referring to is typically enabled or disabled by users on the various recent changes patrolling tool they're using. I think that it would cause some issues if that were inserted and hard-coded into the template like this... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:13, 25 October 2017 (UTC)

I got your message. It is surprising that you don't think that a swiss national newspaper is a reliable source. Prey tell what is? Your deletions to "Mark Halperin"
What are you deleting from the "Mark Halperin" entry? I have put back in what I "think" you deleted. You may be a friend of Mark Halperin, but this has to be in his Wikipedia entry/biography - the man has been accused of gross sexual harassment by five women - CNN and The New York Post have reported it. But I cannot see what you have deleted. Why? What did you delete.
If you delete my entry on the page for "Mark Halperin", I will report you to Wikipedia and seek to have your account closed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Betathetapi545 (talk • contribs)
- Hi, Betathetapi545! I appreciate your message, but I don't see why you needed to accuse me of being a conflict of interest with the article subject or threaten to report me for violating policy if I were to remove the edit you made to the article - you haven't even let me respond yet... lets be civil... lol. The edits were deleted due to being completely unreferenced and without a reliable source (or, well, any source provided). This is required and for any content on an article that's a biography of a living person - especially if the content is negative or contentious in any way. Due to the severity of the unreferenced content added, it had to be redacted from the article history and from being viewable. We take violations of BLP articles seriously, which is why these edits were removed. Your edit does not violate this policy. It includes a reference to a reliable source, and therefore is absolutely fine and I'm not going to do anything to it. Do you have any other questions for me? I'll be happy to answer them and assist you if you do... just let me know :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:22, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Why did you delete the previous entries in a way such that we cannot see what it was that was originally entered (and deleted by you)? I would have liked to have see what the multiple posters had inserted. Thank you.
- Betathetapi545 - They were unreferenced BLP violations that were serious in nature. See this section for more information on its criteria for use. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:39, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi, would you please mind deleting revisions 496958236 to 540851810 on Rio Norte Junior High School? They all contain an obscenity explained by the reverting IP. Thanks! ToThAc (talk) 14:54, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

Hellfire Pass IP
Hello Oshwah, Could I ask for your advice on the activities of 212.136.9.4 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) on the Hellfire Pass article. They have now deleted a sentence four times which gives interesting information for visitors, stating it is "POV", or reads like a "travel log". I have previously reinstated the line and asked them via their Talk page to discuss their reason(s) to no avail, also warning them that they are edit warring and not discussing. Their latest reversion has accused me of a "power trip" and asked me to discuss on the Talk page (after not discussing it themselves!). I am reluctant to report this to WP:ANI as it seems a trivial issue. However, I am concerned with the way they approach editing. Any advice/action from you would be appreciated. Regards, David, David J Johnson (talk) 15:48, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi David J Johnson, and thanks for reaching out and leaving me a message. I'm inclined to agree with the IP that this content isn't necessary at all. Not only does it feel worded as "tourist-like", but it also isn't referenced and appears to be based off original research - what verifiability is in place with this content? What source, or whose experience or recollections is this content based off of? Something tells me that WP:NOR is relevant here. Aside from my input regarding the content itself, it obviously doesn't excuse someone for being uncivil (generally speaking, of course). While the edit summary wasn't the most appropriate, I think we should look past this and focus on coming to a peaceful resolution and agreement. While both of you have been repeatedly reverting one another back-and-fourth on this article on-and-off over the last year, I see that no talk page discussion has been started by either one of you in an attempt to discuss and resolve this. The article's talk page is the direction that you two need to go to. In the meantime, I've fully protected the page so that you two can step back from the back-and-fourth reverting and focus on resolving this dispute. Please let me know if you have any questions or need my help with anything else. I hope that you two will resolve these matters, and that you two can walk away peacefully and work together to improve the article. Best of luck, and happy editing -- ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 16:17, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Oshwah, Many thanks for your comments and I have to say I agree with most of what you say. I just felt that the "information" was of use to visitors. Whilst, until now, I have not used the article Talk page, I have repeatedly posted the IP's Talk page which were not answered. Nor do I think the uncivil remarks were in any way necessary. However, as always, I am prepared to accept consensus. Best regards, David, David J Johnson (talk) 16:37, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- David J Johnson - Looking past the rude or uncivil comments made by others at you, and remaining peaceful in the discussion and working to resolve it without being uncivil back at them - is probably one of the toughest challenges we as editors face when collaborating and participating with this project as a whole. It's a skill and practice that's somewhat rare to see of others, but is a practice that every single long-term experienced editor who has the respect of the community and is looked upon as a true example - possess and demonstrate proficiently and well. Yes, it's difficult to keep civil and remain cool after reading the various gouges, bites, and shots that people will take at you civility-wise, but I promise you one thing: master the art and practice of being respectful and completely civil no matter what is said to you and by whom, and be open and willing to peacefully sort out any dispute with an open mind... and you'll grow into a greatly experienced, respected, and trusted editor no problem. Keep your cool, keep your responses on-topic, and act as if you're setting an example. You'll do just fine :-). Message me if you need help with anything else, and I'll be happy to give you a hand. - I totally agree with all you say. Having been around here for over seven years, I have been abused many times, but ignore it. Wikipedia is far more important to all of us than the occasional example of uncivil behavior. Best, David J Johnson (talk) 17:13, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

There's something fishy about several IPv6 addresses abruptly editing to disrupt the keep votes. I suppose it's a moot point to even entertain the notion of finding the sock master, given that it's IPv6? DARTHBOTTO talk•cont 16:06, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi DarthBotto - Those IPs are all under the same /64 range, which indicate that this is the same user under one connection. The first /64 block of an IPv6 will typically remain static, as it's usually reserved for the ISP or WAN. The second /64 block is typically dynamic to the user and can frequently change. This is normal behavior for IPv6 and there's nothing we can do about it. Going back to your concerns, this user has been rangeblocked and shouldn't be of any more trouble (for now at least...) :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:25, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- I believe the nominator used those I.P. addresses for venting about the AfD not going their way. But, as you know, it's impossible to corroborate, aside from an inexplicable defense of them out of nowhere, so I don't believe there's anything that can be done- unless you may have any ideas? Re: Broadway Corridor Reversions
Hi Oshwah! I got a message that you had reverted my second round of edits to the Broadway Corridor page. Those were not intended as test edits; they were intended as good faith changes. (and source citations, which the original article did not have). Now, I don't have any particular need to keep editing that page, but I would like to know what was wrong with the changes I made. That would help me in the future.

- Hi Eastofsepulveda - I've restored the changes you made to the article; it should be in the exact state and as if I didn't touch anything. I apologize for the confusion; I saw this edit that you had made to the article, and reverted believing that this edit was a test. Looking at it again, I think I see what you were trying to do. Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else, and I'll be happy to give you a hand. By the way, adding four tildes (~~~~) at the end of a message you leave for other users (like here, on my user talk page) will replace it with your signature after you save the edit and submit it. Hi. I changed the year of death from 1935 to 1934. I did this because I work to the communal organisation that manages the cemetery where he is buried and I looked at the original handwritten documents. The date of death was 19th December 1934. However, I am unable to cite a source as the records are not digitized. Please can the change be reinstated.

Hey, O! Just wanted to let you know I re-reverted a revert you restored on the above (try saying that fast three times!) The material removed was BLP with crap sourcing, and way out of guidelines for school articles. - It has always seemed to me there is an inverse relationship between emotion level and subject importance. The most contentious things we seem to have here are Media and Sports articles, which in the bigger picture of things, are relatively meaningless. The discussion on important settlements, or even on things like the articles on the recent events in Vegas, always seem quite reasonable. Boy but try to take out the hours of operation for the community pool on a settlement article for a burg with 1200 people, and look out! John from Idegon (talk) 17:19, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

- Hi Dlohcierekim. I've added "Джингиби" as a condition to edit filter 579. It should now flag an edit filter log entry (which will then signal bots to add automated AIV and UAA reports) when accounts are created with this string in their username. Let me know if you need anything else, and I'll be happy to help. Cheers -- ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:38, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
SPI case merges
Thanks for performing the case merge for Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/DeepNikita, but please leave this to the SPI clerks in future. It's quite easy to get this wrong, and in a lot more subtle ways than you did, so it's best left to people with experience with this sort of thing. Thanks again. Sir Sputnik (talk) 18:52, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
- Sir Sputnik - I'm confused. Isn't the merge I made exactly what you requested me to do? Am I missing something? Let me know. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:58, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
- Close, but not quite. You'll note I specifically asked for an admin clerk to do the merge, for exactly that reason. Now there was no harm done. It was a relatively simple merge so I was able to do the rest of the process myself, but in a more complicated case that could have just created more work whoever reviewed the case for closure. Sir Sputnik (talk) 19:06, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
- Sir Sputnik - Ohhhhhh snap. Yup, you got me there. I didn't read that word in your request. My apologies; I'll make better note to make sure you're not asking for an admin clerk next time. It was interesting, because I remember thinking to myself how unusual the request was and how a clerk should be doing this...... lol ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:13, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Page deletion?
Why did you delete my talk page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CoolBreeze33 (talk • contribs)
- CoolBreeze33 - The deletion of your talk page was part of a mass deletion performed in order to revert a streak of page creations by an IP address that added explicit images in order to vandalize numerous articles and pages. The deletion simply reversed what the IP address did. Please let me know if you have any more questions or concerns, and I'll be happy to answer them and assist you further. Best -- ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:55, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- ~Oshwah~ - Oh, ok. Yeah, that guy was trolling me for a while, I just gave up on deleting the image, over and over. Thanks. Also, do you know how I can get my article published? I just finished it but it still says "draft". I'm very new. P.S. How does this comment look? Did I get the formatting right? CoolBreeze33 (talk) 00:59, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- CoolBreeze33 - Your comment formatting seems fine to me (in fact, I'll say that you've picked it up much quicker than I observe with most new editors). You don't need to include the tildes on each side of "Oshwah" though; in fact, you can just enter {{yo|USERNAME TO PING}} instead of [[User:USERNAME TO PING|USERNAME TO PING]]; it's faster and it does the same thing. I use the latter formatting simply because I guess I'm old fashioned and I'm used to doing it :-). If your account is autoconfirmed, you can simply create a new article without having to make one in the draft space and have it reviewed and accepted first. However, it's good that you did it this way, since you're new and getting feedback from a reviewer before it's published is very helpful with learning how everything works. I believe that you're referring to Draft:Operation Morning Star; if so, then there's nothing you need to do. It's already been submitted for review; just hang back and wait for someone to take a look. Please let me know if you have any more questions or need help with anything. I'll be more than happy to help you with anything that you need. Also, welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you take off your jacket and choose to stay awhile! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:14, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- Oswah - Thanks, I appreciate the feedback and I do wish to stay a while. It feels good to be Wiki police, and also being a part of history. These are the times when people like us are needed the most, with all the fake news about. I hope to be a good contributor for life. If Oswah, the master, would like to teach the young Padawan CoolBreeze33 anything else, I would be much obliged. I'm currently signed into the wiki chat room (just noticed you in chat). Hello Oshwah! I've been keeping an eye on the lesst-han-ideal-edits this user does and had a couple questions:
- How do you find out if this is a school IP? All I know is that the company which owns is in New York and the address Geolocates to Iowa
- Should they get a preventive block? Or do we need to wait another 3 or 4 months of sporadic disruption?
Thanks, L3X1 (distænt write) 02:38, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi L3X1, and thanks for leaving a message with your questions. In order to find out whether or not this IP is a school, we'll run a WHOIS on the IP. The information on a school will come back as one. However, if one doesn't come back as a school (as with this case - See the WHOIS I just ran), it doesn't necessarily mean that it is not a school. Behaviors consistent with one (usually vandalism that looks like someone at a school would cause) can still allow us to add an anonblock with a comment suspecting that this might be a school based on behavioral evidence. But to answer your question, a WHOIS is what I look to and I judge things on a case-by-case basis. It could still be a public IP, just not one in a school.
- Since the IP has not edited in some time, I'm going to wait until it does and when the need for one is currently present. Let me know if you see this IP causing more trouble, and I'll be happy to take a look. In this case, the IP looks to come back as being from a company. We'll definitely want to keep eyes on this. The IP range whom you prevented from editing List of Presidents of India by a protection has started again once the protection expired. Please deal with this. To ping me add {{ping|Force Radical}} OR [[User:Force Radical]]

- Force Radical - I just left a message on the user talk of the last IP that edited these pages asking why they are doing this. If it continues, let me know... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:00, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
- Despite waiting for a day and some AGF hoping that they would stop ,the IP are back to their childish editing pattern. While another admin @Dlohcierekim: has temporarily protected the List of Presidents of India and Government of India pages the IP is undeterred and continues to edit in the same pattern [here] .It would best if a permanent solution could be reached about this problem-

Educational Inequality
Your reversion to my deletion of the Albania section was in error. That section was written with a biased point of view with no sources. "Household income in Albania is very low. Many families are unable to provide a college education for their kids, with the money they make," can and should be sourced. "This population of students needs a path to higher education," is a normative statement. "Nothing is being done for all the young adults who are smart enough to go to college but can not afford to," should be sourced if it is a true statement. 24.2.50.242 (talk) 08:00, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
PP
Hi, Oshwah - your PP at Chris Sherwin happened after the local consensus version had been reverted. As you can see,
- (1) This edit removed the 2 mo. old version without consensus.
- This edit restored it
- (2) The same editor reverted again
- I added it back stating to Discuss First
- (3) The same editor reverted again
- This edit restored it
- (4) The same editor reverted again
That's when you added PP, and locked the no-consensus version in, so the edit warrior won over local consensus. You can see on the TP that local consensus wants to keep the section he keeps reverting. We were discussing possibly trimming it down a bit but that was it. Also, the edit warrior has been equally disruptive at the DYK nom. I don't know if you can restore the initial version and then PP it to prevent the edit warrior from reverting again, or what else you might need so please advise. Thanks in advance, Atsme📞📧 02:43, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Atsme: You might want to consider an edit request. There are instructions at WP:RFPP. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 02:57, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
- Agreed with Dlohcierekim; an edit request must be filed. The discussion over whether or not to keep the section, as well as how much of it to trim, look to still be ongoing. I agree that consensus appears to be in favor to keep the section, but the fact that discussion regarding the amount and manner in which it needs improvement is incomplete shows that there is no consensus yet on a certain revision of the section. Due to these findings, I believe that an edit request and decision by another administrator is appropriate. I protected due to the reasons presented, the evidence I found, and the findings I determined at RFPP; this is the revision that it was at. As the protecting admin, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to factor any decision to change the current page revision. My main concern is that the revision that's protected now is in compliance with WP:BLP and it doesn't violate policies or contain vandalism. Another administrator can change if they feel the need to. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:13, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
Rollback permission follow-up
Hello Oswah, Thanks for your comment last week [6]. It was very useful to guide me to do more edits over a longer period of time. I was wondering if I should wait another week (or two) and continuing reverting or if I should post another request. Again, thank you for guiding me. Cocohead781 (talk) 04:17, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Conensus
Hello Oshwah, thank you for the closure at Special:Diff/808000240. Regarding "I made a vote in this discussion"; there doesn't appear to a contribution that could be classified as "a vote". WP:NOTVOTE reminds us "the use of the words "vote" and "voting" might not be the best choice". Would better phrasing be "I contributed to this dicsussion …"? —Sladen (talk) 08:50, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi, do these two revisions qualify for RD3? Thanks! ToThAc (talk) 15:59, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
- ToThAc - Nah. This is simply someone trying to troll with child-like insults. I typically consider RD3 for threats, harassment, accusations, statements, and revisions that are grossly inappropriate, contain links to viruses or shock sites, are large enough in size or contain text or characters that cause browser-crashing or alters the web page's interface to be unusable. Thanks like that. Let me know if you have any other questions or if you need my help with anything else. I'll be happy to lend a hand ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 16:40, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
