If you're willing to remove those Indian tags then it's fine with me.I'll do the same with the Pakistani tags. Please the term "ancient India" is very nationalistic. There never was such a country as "India".Just a group of indipendant states. These states were were only united after indipendance from Britain.By removing all refferences to pakistan,it's clear you want to claim the indus for yourself. Please stop this so-called "academic" claim. The term "India" was invented by the greeks evolving from the words "Sindhu" and Indus. The word really meant nothing to the people of SOuth Asia. The Arabs and the other civilizations reffered to Sindh. Please this claim over the Indus is very imperialistic and disrespectful to Pakistani editors.
I'm placing the tag in the right place and replacing the reverts you made. [[User:Nadirali|Nadirali]] 01:56, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Brihaspati.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Brihaspati.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Re: Solar system

I'm editing Solar system at the moment, and was wondering what you wanted added to "de-Eurofy" the article. My feeling is that the article is already very long, and that the issue of geocentrism and heliocentrism is very well-covered elsewhere. I trimmed the "discovery" section from about six paragraphs to one, focusing on Europeans simply because Europeans invented the astronomical telescope, and thus were the first to study the solar system as a natural, geological entity. I hope I'm not offending you when I say this, but I have issues with the Indian inclusions in the astronomical articles anyway; they tend to be uncited and to make rather grandiose claims (such as Indian mystics discovered gravitation) that are not elaborated upon or explained. Your recent edit to History of the Hindu-Arabic numeral system (diff) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept my humble creator's apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. Bot says thank you. :) It really helps to see all red links turn blue. When I was filling infoboxes for politicians, almost all birth places turn red links. Now all towns should be there. Thanks again, Ganeshk (talk) 01:11, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting 101

1) A revert of a major edit is NOT a minor edit. (Rupee: history)

2) A revert needs an EXPLANATION. Your revert was right, I got it wrong. The edit which I reverted was not explained correctly. He really did add the template, not just suggest it as his edit note implied. (The templates are kind of tiny, which should be another problem to address on Wikipedia.) Was it really that hard to type in that the previous changes DID add the template? Reverting anyone's edit or revert, within one minute of the edit, with NO explanation, makes you look like a "revert-bot" or a sock-puppet of the previous editor. Just as you left me to figure out why my inept edit deserved to be reverted, likewise you have left anyone after us to figure out the same. --Whiner01 01:48, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Whiner01, sorry for the inconvenience. I do use an automated revert tool that marks a revert as a minor edit, and doesn't allow writing a custom made summary. I think your suggestion are quite useful, and I'll pass them on to the person who made the tool. Meanwhile, it's great that you figured out that the revert was indeed useful. The template is quite handy because it provides a uniform access to and from all Rupee related articles. Please feel free to improve the template in any way you can. Regards, deeptrivia (talk) 01:57, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I made other subtler tweaks on "Rupee"; let's see if they help.

I also adjusted Category:Rupee some, all formatting changes. I think I changed this category box for the better.

I have caught a gross problem that seems to affect most or all category boxes, having smaller print than the main article and italic instead of bold, thereby REDUCING visibility of the linked related topics that they are supposed to highlight.

If my style changes to that category box are for the better, then I would hope that the differences will get copied to other category pages. Sadly, I think the opposite will happen. My changed box is outnumbered by other boxes, so it is very likely that someone will come through and, in the name of Consistency (god), will restore the category page to small-print unreadability, not thinking of the drawbacks. I would look for a way to Meta-fix the category boxes, but sadly they are not using only template features. Every (?) category box seems to have font size specified within it, a very wrong thing. --Whiner01 02:45, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Chandragupta Page

Hello Deeptrivia,

Seems like the History of India project is going well. Anyhow, I just wanted to bring to the attention of the group that a number of users are degrading the quality of some articles, i.e. Chandragupta Maurya, etc. Namely, rather than outlining facts accepted by scholarship, quotes from works are appropriated and deployed for the purpose of developing opinion. Accordingly, Greek influence and achievements are being aggrandized throughout Alexander's and Menander's era. Moreover, entire paragraphs of works from primary sources are being dumped in to support philhellenic rather than balanced perspectives that hurt the readability of the articles. Perhaps some type of group watch should be considered. Please take a look and let me know what you think. I was going to post this first on the project page, but seems like you're well-placed to point out what project perspectives on this may be.

Best Regards,

Devanampriya

Pattern of vandalism

Hi deeptrivia :) .

I'm Rentwa, I've added my name to the Project Buddhism list and started a Zen collaboration (I'd love it if you'd vote on some of the articles or even add one or two nominations, btw!).

Nat Krause suggested I try some patrolling, and I came across a nasty bit of vandalism on the theme of Middle Way = Eightfold Path - the vandal(s) seems to be a persistent Buddhism/Hinduism vandal.

I reverted changes in Eightfold path, Middle way and Buddhism and left warnings at various IPs, including but not limited to:

65.88.88.200 (eightfold path)

66.149.9.127

68.120.157.55 (middle way)

207.166.8.2 (middle way)

all of which deserve an indefinite block without further ado IMO (although I always tend to shoot first :) )

puja

the text appears to be from a "Venkateshwara[2][3] puja" (30.14)[4]. It is an invocation of surya, indu, agni and vayu. I believe that mukhaadindsh is a mistake for mukhaadindush, so that it appears that your text was directly copy-pasted from the link above (which has the same mistake). The Atharvaveda has things like mukhaad agnir ajaayata, but the precise text does not seem to have a Vedic precedent. regards, dab () 09:19, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

well, in that case my reply is that my Indological horizon is really just the Vedic texts, and while the verse appears closely based on mantras, it is not directly taken from a Vedic mantra for all I can tell. Your next step will have to be to find references on the texts "Sri VenkaTeshvara SuprabhAtam and Sri VenkaTeshvara aShTottara" named on the page, whatever those may be, to at least establish which of the two it is taken from. regards, dab () 09:00, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ladakh

The refs are better. But I have one question. Why are the notes in a foreign script? As this is the English language wikipedia, I'm curious about this. Does it say this is okay in the FA criteria or are there articles already FA that use this style? Rlevse 17:37, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Thanks for welcoming me to History of India. I will contribute as many quality articles as I can but I am impressed with the effort my fellow Indians have put in. Not for any profit, but a love of the Motherland, and a desire to spread knowledge has prompted so many wonderful articles! However, we must continue to keep up the work, since coverage on historical topics needs to be broadened IMO. By the way, I am a molecular biologist by profession, and an Indologist by passion... so that's why I don't write technical articles for wikipedia. Also there are many people who can write on those things but (from what I have seen), only a handful of regular contributors to HOI. Have a great great day and thanks again for welcoming me. Cheers. --Antorjal 14:06, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2nd October

Hi, remember 11th september, when you and I both requested for including the start of Gandhi Ji's Satyagrah Movement on the talk page of the main page. The editors/ admins (whosoever is responsible) did not include it despite several requests. Tomorrow is his b'day, 2nd October. At least this ought to go there on the main page. I do not know if they will include it themselves or we will just keep on requesting and nothing will happen. Do you know if an admin can help us in that. As a matter of fact, I was looking on the main page today and there was the mention that Pele, played the last football match today (or something like that). If start of Satyagrah can be conveniently ignored and Pele's last game can be added, all I can see is BIAS. Nevertheless, we will try for 2nd October. This was just to remind you. Thanks. --APandey 18:07, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am at wit's end, so I'd love it if you could take a look sometime... until then I guess there is a png file to get the article through to the FAC stage. Take care. Dont' add "dispute" notes to pages related to Pakistan

I've removed that little note from this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diran

Firstly, it's not in Kashmir (what Indian POV is, is a different issue, it never was a part of Kashmir).

Secondly if there is no such note on all pages for Indian-held Kashmir, then it shouldn't be on any pages of Pakistan either. So before you add these Indian-POV notes on Pakistan related pages, do add similar dispute notes on pages related to Srinagar and Dal Lake etc that say that the region is disputed and Pakistan also lays claim to Kashmir (or that it should be resolved according to the Indian promise of plebiscite, that India never allowed to be held). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.101.178.20 (talkcontribs)

I support this. A similar category for statistics and charts could be good. The reason for splitting these up would be to encourage people who are experts in one of those areas to do the fixes without requring them to wade through the rest of the articles. Antonrojo 18:06, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Varnas and Your Revert

Don't revert sourced, valuable information on Hindu. I have support of our holy texts such as Veda, Geeta and Manusmriti for my claims. If you do it again I will complain our wikiadminsitrators. This is polite warning. Shudra123 17:38, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hoysala Empire

Thank you for your barn star. It helps a lot. I see that User:Raul654 (the director) has given it FA status. Do you know who add's the "star" to the front page? Can it be done by anyone once an article becomes FA. thanks.Dineshkannambadi 17:13, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hullo and happy holidays!

Dear DT,

I'm OK. Arthritis is bad, and I haven't been doing my daily zazen as often as I should, but I've been getting more proofreading work, and even an assignment to research and write about raw fish dishes. I'm taking a Hawaiian course and my teacher is so funny! My daughter spent Christmas with me and I spent many hours cooking. So how are you? I have no idea who you are, other than someone who has decided to try to live his life with kindness. Have you seen Lage Raho Munna Bhai? I love that film. Zora 18:29, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Am I the first one to try your Gujarati message board?

Hi, I came to know you from your participation in discussion about vegetarianism on WP:HNB. I felt happy of seeing so many Barnstars from good Indian editors. You must have deserved to get them.

I clicked Wiki Gujarati, thinking that I will get a list of Gujarati Wikipedians. It was pleasant surprise that you have a message board in Gujarati. I tried to write the first word of greetings, "Suprabhatam" and found there is no tool to create "Pra" nor there are half characters. Somehow, I was lead to main page "Gujarati" and I realised these characters were absent there too.

If, I am not inquisitive, are you Gujarati or know Gujarati?

Wish you a long pleasant Wiki life. swadhyayee 01:54, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move request

Hey Svest, could you please help move Indore, India to Indore? Check out the discussion on the talk page. Thanks a ton, and what's up? deeptrivia (talk) 19:59, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DT. Long long time again :) Move is done. -- Szvest - Wiki me up ® 09:55, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vegetarianism

How dare you inject logic into discussion about religion at WT:HNB ?! I think you should immediately be banned from editing Hinduism related pages ! Template:Smi
Ok, juvenile jokes apart, thanks for adding useful refs at Hinduism#Ahimsa and vegetarianism. I have reformatted the sections somewhat. Please take a look and let me know if you have any objections. Abecedare 22:24, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

look at Talk:Histoty of Pakistan and Talk:History of India. I'm supposedly "hijacking Pakistan's ancient heritage".Bakaman 04:53, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vijayanagar

Yes, this article is in the final stages before peer review. as you know I was busy with other FA's. I will be back from Holiday on 1st jan. Give me a few days to do some initial copyedits (like moving inline citations out of the LEAD and into the main body, make sure all citations have page numbers, full publication info, remove unnecessary linking etc, etc so all this wont come in the way during real collaboration work.Thanks.Dineshkannambadi 16:54, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good call on the Desi article

Thanks for removing that section. I didn't like it much but when I gave the article a going-over and removed lots of material, I kept some borderline stuff so as to reduce the shock. It's good that someone else, not me, took it out.

Still needs work. All we have is famous writers. I think we should have actors, directors, famous chefs, etc. Just been busy. Zora 20:54, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

please stop reverting my edits

Please stop reverting my edits on the indus valley civilization article.I also made a small addition to the "ancient India" link with the ancient Pakistan link so readers are not confused. If there's a mention of only modern day Pakistan while a mention of only "ancient India",the reader will get the impression the entire region was India. The indus is also part of ancient Pakistan.

I simply placed the Pakistan tag because I saw several indian project tags on the talk page. This has allowed me to make add this article to the category of Pakistan related topics. Regards Nadirali 00:32, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nadirali 01:56, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
