Brian Thomas Wheat (born November 5, 1962 in Sacramento, California) best known as the bass guitarist of the band Tesla.[1] He, however, can play bass, keyboards, piano and provides backing vocals.[2] He formed the band City Kidd in 1982, with his friend Frank Hannon. After adding Tommy Skeoch, Jeff Keith and Troy Luccketta to the lineup, the band signed with Geffen Records and changed their name to Tesla.

Brian owns a recording studio by the name of J Street Recorders in Sacramento, California. Bands such as Papa Roach, Tesla, Pat Travers, Deftones, Kodiak Jack, Flashfires and many others have recorded there[citation needed].
