Dilshad Garden is a large housing colony located in East Delhi, which was primarily developed by Delhi Development Authority (DDA).[citation needed]
Dilshad Garden falls under the both Shahdara and Seemapuri constituency of the legislative assembly. Thus, a part of Dilshad Garden falls under MLA of Seemapuri Vidhansabha Shri Rajender Pal Gautam and its other part falls under the MLA of Shahdara Vidhansabha Shri Ram Niwas Goyal.
The area is divided into several Blocks named from A to R and several Pockets from A to SG.
The Deer Park in Dilshad Garden is a public park with lush green ground and is awarded best park of delhi. Greenway Modern Senior Secondary School is the best school of North East and East Delhi located between pocket A and D of Dilshad Garden. Pocket A and other pockets surrounding it are also known pockets of doctors as many doctors and nurses live there. Dilshad Garden is considered best area for education in north east and East Delhi Dilshad Garden is home to large garhwali and kumaoni population.
