Yadavindra College of Engineering (abbreviated YCoE) is a public engineering institute of Punjabi University located at Talwandi Sabo, Punjab, India.[1] YCoE was established in year 2004[2] as a university engineering department. The college has been named after the last Maharaja of Patiala Yadavindra Singh and father of then Chief Minister Captian Amarinder Singh.

History

The establishment of Yadavindra College of Engineering in 2004 at Guru Kashi Campus has been proved to be a catalyst for the overall development of this backward region.[3] The college has been planned by Punjabi University under leadership of then VC S.S.Boparai to overcome the problems faced by rural people in getting higher education.[4]

Historical location

The college is located at Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda district of Punjab. Talwandi Sabo (also known as Damdama Sahib) is a sacred place for Sikhs where Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, the fourth Takhat of Sikhism is located. This land was blessed by Guru Gobind Singh as Hamari Kashi, a centre of higher learning.[5] For this noble cause, Punjabi University has chosen this place to established a major learning centre for professional and technical education.

The college is located on the outskirts of Talwandi Sabo on Raman road. YCoE is 1 km away from Talwandi Sabo Bus stand and 26 km from Bathinda. The Nearest Railway Station is Raman (station code: RMN) at a distance of 14km.

Golden Hearts scholarship

Punjabi University has been offering technical education to rural students at YCoE under Golden Hearts interest-free loan scholarship[6][7][1] since its inception. Many Philanthropist[8], NRI donars, banks and industrial houses have funded the fee of rural students studying under this scheme [9]. Many industries have also offered to assist in placement of students of this college and CM has also instituted a corpus fund to finance the mess bill of students [10].

Academics

The college offers 6 year integrated B.Tech. course under Golden Hearts Scholarship offered by Punjabi University for students belonging to rural areas.[11] College offers regular 4 year B.Tech., 3 year MCA and two years M.Tech. courses in different engineering disciplines.[12] College also offers Ph.D. and M.Tech. (weekend) courses in addition to various certificate courses.
