B.P.Poddar Institute of Management and Technology (BPPIMT) is a private college in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Founded in 1999 as B.P Poddar Foundation for Education,[1] it is affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.[2]

The college is located near Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at a distance of 2 km and was built as a tribute to the memory of Shri B.P. Poddar (the founder of the Poddar Group).

It has a second campus in Sector V, Salt Lake which offer degrees in management (BBA and BCA).[3]

Affliations

The B.P. Poddar Institute of Management & Technology was initially affiliated to the University of Kalyani (in the year 1999) and later on in the year 2001 as per the instruction of Govt. of West Bengal, the Institute was affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata. The courses offered are structured according to prevailing international standards.

Admissions

Admissions are done based on the merit of the students as per West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination(WBJEE) ranking system, JEE mains ranking and JELET (Joint Entrance Lateral Entry Test for Second year third semester admission) ranking system and JECA for MCA candidates.

Library

The library plays a key role in the academic activities of the Institute. The library has a large collection of books, journals and periodicals. Stock of books is regularly updated with the latest editions. The Institute has an e-library that enables students to access resource on line. The Institute subscribes to AICTE approved 3 online journals IEEE, Springer, ELSEVIER through which the students can access large number of international journals. In addition to automated search and issue of reference books and periodicals, the book bank facility is also provided to students. Multimedia facility is available to encourage the students for e-learning.The library is also equipped with a set of National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) recommended lecture videos and Mc. Graw Hill E-books.[4]

Computer Centres

An intelligent campus equipped with full-networking facilities with wireless and wired access provides connectivity to all computer laboratories, class rooms, library, common room, faculty room etc. There are nine well-equipped computer laboratories having over four hundred computers that are connected and enabled with Campus LAN along with latest configuration and under the coverage of Microsoft Campus Agreement License. All the buildings of the campus are connected through high-speed Fiber Optic backbone and special Wi-Fi zone has been created to cater for the LAN facility so as to enable them to have a concrete hands-on experience and be abreast with the latest Software Technologies. The Institute is connected with 15 Mbit/s (1:1) Internet leased line for 24 x 7 Internet facilities for intra and inter campus accessibility.[citation needed]
