Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (Japanese: 鬼滅の刃, Hepburn: Kimetsu no Yaiba) is a Japanese manga series by Koyoharu Gotōge. The series is published in English by Viz Media. An anime television series adaptation by Ufotable has been announced.

Manga
Koyoharu Gotōge launched the manga in 2016's 11th issue of Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump on February 15, 2016.[2] A side story for the manga was published in the first issue of Shonen Jump GIGA on July 20, 2016.[3]
Viz Media published the first three chapters of the series in its digital magazine Weekly Shonen Jump as part of the "Jump Start" program, but did not pick the series up for continued serialization.[1][4] Viz announced their license to the series during their panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 20, 2017.[4]

Anime
An anime television series adaptation by studio Ufotable was announced in Weekly Shōnen Jump on June 4, 2018.[18]
Reception
The series ranked 14th on a list of manga recommended by Japanese bookstore employees in 2017,[19] and 19th on a list of the top manga of 2018 for male readers put together by Kono Manga ga Sugoi!.[20] According to an advertisement placed by Shueisha in Shinjuku Station, the first five volumes had printed 1 million copies as of May 2017.[21] The first seven volumes had 1.5 million copies in print as of August 2017. [22] As of June, 2018, the manga had 2.5 million copies in print.[23]
