Untitled[edit]

Hey, There was a suggestion to create an new article specifically for Rainbow Boys. I think it is a good idea, though right now neither the information on Sanchez nor the information on Rainbow Boys seems complete enough to constitute an independent entry for the book. If it is decided by people that a new entry is needed, I would suggest one that includes all of the books in the "Rainbow" series, as they all seem to be coming under attack.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Driskil3 (talkcontribs) 15:33, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The point of a separate article for Rainbow Boys would be to expand on the information about the book currently in this article and create new content for things like plot, characters, reaction (such as the banning paragraph currently in this article), and the sequel. There are plenty of brief articles on books to be found in Category:Book stubs -Acjelen 18:35, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think the citations should be returned here. WP does encourage formal citations: Wikipedia:Cite_your_sources—Preceding unsigned comment added by Driskil3 (talkcontribs) 15:47, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Much to my surprise, WP does allow in-text citations. I suppose if others have to learn to accept the edits of Gnostic Christians or diaper lovers on Wikipedia, I will need to embrace Harvard referencing. -Acjelen 18:35, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Why am I redirected to this page when following a link from the page Keri Hulme to her novel Bait (novel)? --91.96.122.246 (talk) 22:49, 1 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mexican American?[edit]

I was surprised to see Alex Rivera described as Mexican American. When I asked him at a public event at an LGBT bookstore in Atlanta, he self-identified as Cuban-American. It would be valuable to find publications in which he discusses this or is interviewed about his self-identification. While he was born in Mexico, I believe he has no Mexican family.--Lawrlafo (talk) 13:22, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please disregard above comment! I contacted author via email and he indicated that the designation of Mexican American is accurate. My apologies for any confusion!--Lawrlafo (talk) 19:45, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alex Sánchez (author)Alex Sanchez (author) – Subject is a 64-year-old American citizen who has been living in the U.S. since he was five years old. A quotation from him in The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language as well as his official website, which depicts the covers of his books, clearly confirm that his surname is inscribed as "Sanchez", not as "Sánchez", the same as American-born Alex Sanchez (pitcher). Analogous to Zbigniew Brzeziński who dropped the Polish diacritic when he became a U.S. citizen at the age of 30. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 07:21, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, reliable sources use the unaccented spelling. 162 etc. (talk) 18:45, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Per usage in both official sources like the authors site, and in reliable independent sources.--Yaksar (let's chat) 19:00, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Every time I see one of these reminds me me that a shame we don't apply this logic in reverse to Ana Ivanović. Still after nearly two decades singled out for Anglicisation on en.wp? Why is she targeted uniquely among Europeans? In ictu oculi (talk) 15:18, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • While I'm not particularly familiar with the background there, that one does not look as cut and dry -- her official site and social media platforms use a mix of both (with her site appearing to only use the Ivanovic spelling), and the majority of English language sources coming up in a Google news search use the Ivanovic spelling (but again I haven't done my full research there).--Yaksar (let's chat) 16:22, 11 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
