According to marriage records issued by the General Register Office and available via subscription at Ancestry.com here, Roma Barrack married Eric A Hollins in early 1948. Records confirm she was born in 1928. So, she must have been 19 when she married, not 17. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:53, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
PPS: Her autobiography here says that she was born in 1937 and married at 17 - neither of which was true. It should be treated with some caution as a source. Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:24, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure where/if to place info, but it appears that Carla was quite close close with Linda and Paul McCartney. Possibly writing music, book collaboration, etc. I was not sure how to fit that into the article, or if it is relevant. Possibly we could have a look at her work/career/friendships outside of television. Gabs Blue Labs (talk) 10:30, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In the London Gazettehere, she is named as Carla Lane - hence, in my view her name should be stated in the opening line as "Carla Lane OBE" - not "Roma Barrack OBE". Thoughts? Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It is in fact very common these days for the LG to use the pseudonym rather than the real name when listing honours. "Born Roma Barrack" implies that was no longer actually her name; we have to be very careful of implying such things in an encyclopaedia. Since she had apparently not legally changed it this was not the case. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:38, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved the OBE so that it appends to the name Carla Lane - I don't think she was ever described anywhere as Roma Barrack OBE. Ghmyrtle (talk) 12:49, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
