Problems

[edit]

I've noticed several problems with this article, primarily a copyright issue - what exactly does "Re-produced with permission from www.chrisharrisracing.co.uk" mean? where is the permission? There is no such things a limited permission for material to be used on Wikipedia, it's all or nothing. If there are violations of copyright here, the entire article could be affected. Also, there are various phrases used in the article which contravene the Wikipedia manual of style, and are often indiciative of copyright violations. Deiz talk 11:17, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In what form would you like the permission displayed ? Permission has been sought and granted.Hammer1980 12:56, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um, I'd like the permission displayed in a way that we can all verify what licence the work has been released under. Otherwise the page contravenes WP:C. Please don't remove tone tags without copyediting the article. You may be interested to read WP:MoS and WP:PEACOCK. Deiz talk 01:54, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Again, instead of quoting policy, explain exactly how the permission needs displaying. Permission HAS been specifically granted to use it, word for word if necessary, on Wikipedia. Why don't you copyedit the information into a suitable format if you consider it to be a problem. I will gladly proof read it afterwards to check if the rwrite has altered the factual content information in any way.Hammer1980 10:58, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Permission must be granted to release all rights to the work, there is no such thing as limited permission for reproduction only on Wikipedia. This permission must be displayed on the website the material is taken from. Sorry if this wasn't clear. The good news is the text does not appear to have been copied, rather paraphrased, so unless you know different you can remove the permission notice. The image might have a copyright issue. As far as the copyediting goes, I'm sorry to hear you are not interested in creating content in line with the Wikipedia manual of style. The division of work on WP should not involve editors writing reams of noncompliant text then saying "you clean it up" to whoever points out the style guide to them. Compare it to a child spilling his dinner on the floor them telling his mum to "pick it up and I'll come back and check you've cleaned the floor to my satisfaction". Was copied and pasted, slightly amended so it made sense away from originating site. The orginal site has been amended since. However the information here is sufficient. Permission has been given for it to be used on Wikipedia and any other source for that matter, with a credit from where it was sourced from. Hence the reason I have asked three times now how to display it. With reagrds to the copyediting, if you feel it does meet wiki standards, then feel free to re-edit it instead of sticking a label on it.Hammer1980 17:03, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
