This was added, then deleted: At his first Harvard-Yale Game in 2005, Handsome Dan XVI was briefly stolen by a pair of Harvard undergraduates. The two lured him into the Harvard student section of the Yale Bowl as he chewed a toy depicting a Harvard football player. Yale University Police recovered him, unharmed but without his Yale sweater, a few minutes later." I've re-added it. Everyone who was in the stadium at halftime saw this happen, and it's a noteworthy tale in the Handsome Dan saga. 71.240.38.3007:54, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
This piece states that Handsome Dan XI was owned by Yale dean Horace Taft, but according to Sports Illustrated this Dan was owned by Yale alum and Pierson college master John Hersey. People, Sports Illustrated, December 1, 1969 As Hersey was a parttime resident of Martha's Vineyard, that would probably explain the Vineyard sightings of Dan mentioned in the piece. :-) MarmadukePercy (talk) 21:51, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
