Potential vandalism[edit]

colorless green windbreaker? how can a jacket be green and also colorless? i dont believe 'colorless' to be a shade of green. it is a paradoxical statement and a probable vandalism.

Guest appearances[edit]

>>Winkler also has critically acclaimed guest appearances on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

What exactly is a "critically acclaimed guest appearance" on a talk show? Which critcs "acclaimed" his appearances? Should be sourced or removed.

Daydream believer2, are you saying his guest appearance on King of the Hill is not encyclopedic? Btyner 21:36, 25 August 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, Btyner, I by no means intended to omit that appearance - I was called away halfway through editing - however I felt that the previous wording was unnecessary. Unless one was going to list all of his guest appearances by date, there is no reason why a guest role on King of the Hill should be listed with date and other details when most of his other guest roles aren't. I have returned the information, but placed it along with other guest appearances Mr. Winkler has made. :) Daydream believer2 04:57, August 26, 2005 (UTC)

New to this but saw him on The Bob Newhart Show tonight and was trying to determine if it was before he was on Happy Days and noticed the omission of his appearance as a former(?) bank robber so I thought I'd add it in with as much back-up as I could. Hope this helps make the page more complete, informative, or whatever. WhiteTigress424 (talk) 08:46, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

One thing I'd like to know: Was his doctorate in Hebrew Literature honorary? If not, it's amazing that he'd have time to gain it during those explosive few years of growth leading to 1978. Further info, anyone? --tgeller 09:24, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

He doesn't have a Ph.D. (even Honorary), so I made the appropriate edit.

Yeah I don't think he has a Ph.D, only a few places mention it, and those are probably getting their info from here. As far as I can tell Emerson doesn't even have a anything to do with Hebrew Literature or even offer Ph.D's. I'm deleting until anybody can prove it. HybridFusion 21:12, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

He didn't get his Ph.D., and in fact, was on Happy Days at the time.

According to his new book, he did get an honorary PhD in Hebrew Literature from Emerson, p. 128 in "I Never Met An Idiot on the River". I'm not sure if that's an acceptable source for Wikipedia, but it it worth noting that it made it into his most recent book, published this year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 20:00, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

King of TV[edit]

The King of TV, paul goebel, does a game in his podcast called 6 degrees of Henry Winkler. Perhaps that could appear in the trivia section? Benbenbenben

I've edited the Personal Life and Career section to remove what seems to be vandalism. All of Henry Winkler's children's names were changed, and his wife's name was preceded by "former buddhist monk...". " Also, his parents were listed as buddhists, and his birthplace was changed to "fonzetown, mass". I removed a cited reference to "" which resolved to a placeholder web page without content. In the Career section I corrected various changes like "Lords of Flatballs", "Ron Burgundy" instead of "Ron Howard", and "Night Stuff" instead of "Night Shift".

Can someone please check the remainder of this page for other errors. I can't figure out how to correct fonztown, mass. reference near photo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Caseywasser (talkcontribs) 17:57, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

I removed what appears to be more vandalism. [[[Max Bemis]]] was linked as being Winkler's son but he is not his son. Max Daniel Winkler was born August 18, 1983 according to The other Max was born in April 1984 and also has a different middle name than Winkler's son. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 20:23, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

The article states that he is best known for his role as Fonzie, so shouldn't there be a 1970's picture of Winkler as Fonzie? --User101010 (talk) 01:59, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Never without his motorcycle?[edit]

This sounds completely made says he was only allowed to wear the leather jacket in scenes with his motorcycle...yet he wore the leather jacket throughout most of the show's run, and most scenes did not include the motorcycle. There's no source either. (talk) 17:53, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Missing title from Filmography[edit]

I have just seen a 2008 tv movie called "The most wonderful time of the year" in which Henry Winkler plays a character called Ralph. There is a short description of the film on IMDb if anyone wants to check. Shouldn't this title appear in his Filmography then? Elisa fdm (talk) 21:46, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

And I'm 100% sure that I saw him on one of my DVDs from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". He was Mary's date, or Rhoda's date, or something. A fairly brief appearance, but certainly, surely, him. (talk) 22:00, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

The old "Template:Infobox actor" did not have a "Religion" field. Now that "Template:Infobox actor" is being redirected to "Template:Infobox person", which does, the non-existant reference named "Judaism" is causing an error. So, changed it to cite needed. - Salamurai (talk) 03:56, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Royal Pains[edit]

Shouldn't his casting as Eddie R. Lawson (the main characters father) on Royal Pains be noted in his return to tv section? He has had a significant impact on the show since season 2. Vyselink (talk) 00:39, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

New Book[edit]

I don't do much on Wikipedia so I'm not sure the proper way to add this, but he recently came out with a new book - "I've Never Met An Idiot on the River". It seems like it would be good to update his page with this, but it doesn't fit under the current book section. Does anyone know how to do this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 16:40, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

OBE Award[edit] just going to leave this here, dont have the time to add it @work atm :) Ugottoknowme2 (talk) 14:35, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

A reference to the honorary OBE has been added. – ukexpat (talk) 18:22, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Absolute Strangers.[edit]

I added the film Absolute Strangers to the filmography. It is a movie from 1991 and he plays the husband Marty Klein, a leading role. I watched it on Netflix. You can check IMDB for the movie title and his role. Or you can just Google Absolute Strangers movie on Google for other sources.-- (talk) 08:20, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Penguins of Madagascar[edit]

What episode of Penguins of Madagascar did Henry Winkler guest stared. By the way, Henry Winkler will be in the new TV series starring King Julien as his uncle. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 20:28, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

Middle name[edit]

The article says his middle name (Franklin) was in honor of Franklin Roosevelt, who was president at the time of his birth. Actually, Roosevelt had been dead for six months when Mr. Winkler was born. Chertz (talk) 01:07, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

I don't understand what this means[edit]

"whenever Rich or Ann Daniels was uninvolved, his company was called Fair Dinkum Productions. He chose the name in a nod to Australia, where the term Fair Dinkum is a national slang." So if Rich and Ann Daniels are out of the office for the day, does the company issue all contracts and checks under this business name? Or is it a subsidiary company producing material with only Winkler? I do not understand. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 16:40, 10 December 2015 (UTC)

The Fonzie article says Cunningham appeared in all episodes but the Henry Winkler article says he left before the end of the series. Th Fonzie article also says Mickey Dolenz was first considered for the role but the Winkler article says that they were looking for a tall, hunky blonde (which Dolenz was not). Can someone please source the statements/fix the contradictions between the articles. - Sitush (talk) 22:06, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

FATHERS name changed in the USA ?[edit]

His father was called HARRY IRVING

both of his names are not german. It is said that they were german jews but i have never seen a person in germany with the name IRVING. Harry is also not so common in germany and especially not before 1945.

Has he changed his name in the usa? His mothers name ANNE MARIE is very german on the other hand — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 12:50, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

I have seen claims that his father was of Hungarian origin or at least born there. --Denniss (talk) 13:45, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

My great grandpa(Henry Franklin Winkler)probably doesn't know I'm alive,I really want to talk to him at least,he has more family than he can imagine, where have you been all my life grandpa? Lillian Bryant (talk) 04:05, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
