[edit]Education--- you don't get GCSE classified as Firsts and Seconds, and even if you did she would be too old to have recieved them as the GCSE is a relatively new certificate of education. She would have been awarded the GCE. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.97.182.199 (talk) 04:54, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Re Ancestry
[edit]I'll need to look this up again, but I think that Rep. Imee's ancestry can be sourced from the controversial biography of her mother, The Unauthorized Biography of Imelda Marcos (can't remember the author). There is definitely someone among her ancestors who is Spanish, though I can't remember if there is someone Chinese. I'll need to confirm this, though. --- Tito Pao 21:39, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- According to Carmen Navarro Pedrosa in her books, The Untold story of Imelda Marcos and the Rise and Fall of Imelda Marcos, Imelda's grandmother, Trinidad Romualdez y Lopez was a daughter of a Spanish Franciscan friar, Francisco Lopez..
- Her story was corroborated by Imelda's official biographer Kerima Polotan in her book, Imelda Romualdez Marcos.
- In my interview with Mrs. Imelda Marcos on August 26, 2004, she confirmed her Spanish ancestry: "My father was so strict, and he had 3/4th Spanish.
-> This is hearsay until proven via some dna testing. evidence is what we need people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.67.151.149 (talk) 06:47, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- As to the Chinese ancestry, Imee's father, President Ferdinand Marcos has Chinese ancestry.. This was confirmed in my interview with Cong. Imee on September 6, 2004. According to her:
Imee Marcos: Chua ang Marcos dati. alam mo ba yun? Alam mo yung Marcos-Chua
Interviewer:Yun nga po ang nabasa ko...
Imee Marcos: Yung ibang pinsan namin, Marcos... yung ibang pinsan namin, Marcos-Chua... yung iba Chua.- In his book, The Marcos Dynasty, Sterling Seagrave alleged that Ferdinand Marcos' real father was was Judge Ferdinand Chua (and not Mariano Marcos), scion of a wealthy, politically powerful Chinese clan who came to the rescue at crucial moments in Marcos' early career. "I remember"
[edit]In the article, one sentence begins with "I remember". It was added in November 2016: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Imee_Marcos&diff=750035381&oldid=750034922 It seems very odd but has survived many changes… Robby.is.on (talk) 13:06, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Thief!?
[edit]This phrase absolutely needs removed from the opening sentence. If she has been convicted of a crime, then maybe it could say she is a "Filipino politician and convicted criminal" (with references), but even that is questionable for the opening paragraph since she is currently serving in the Senate. Any crimes that she has been charged or convicted of should be addressed but certainly not in this fashion. This is not how a serious article should be worded.
Name and sources
[edit]It seems there has been some disagreement as to the subject's full name. The reference for this until recently was a geni.com article, which has been flagged before for not being a reliable source as per this WP:RSN discussion. Media sources or COMELEC announcements regarding her candidacy should settle the issue, I think, if someone can find a relevant source. I will try to find one when I can, unless someone else wants to do so first. - Thundersub (talk) 23:57, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
- FWIW, COMELEC lists her name as "Maria Imelda Josefa Romualdez Marcos" (source). Itsquietuptown ✉️📜 09:23, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

Imme Marcos Civil Status is Single. Request to remove Mark Chua as Domestic Partner, they are not married, or registered as domestic Partner in the Philippines or in Singapore. Gigisojuicy (talk) 23:55, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
IMEE MARCOS LEGAL CIVIL STATUS IS SINGLE. SHE HAD NO DOMESTIC PARTNER LEGALLY REGISTERED IN THE PHILIPPINES OR IN SINGAPORE. PLEASE REMOVE MARK CHUA AS DOMESTIC PARTNER. Gigisojuicy (talk) 23:56, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
Hi! Would you kindly provide any reference that proves your statement for the purposes of editing her civil status? Firekiino (talk) 04:02, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Gigisojuicy: Imee Marcos' civil status is "Married", because divorce does not exist in the Philippines and the marriage was never annulled. But you are correct that Chua is not her legal domestic partner. Done by removing Chua from the infobox with Special:Diff/1094361305. Chlod (say hi!) 04:42, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
Regarding alma matter
[edit]Based on the current sourcing used in the article it seems more likely that Imee Marcos did not graduate from both Princeton University and the University of the Philippines. However, it does seem like she at least attended both universities. Would this count as the two being regarded as her alma matter or would one need to graduate from an educational institution for it to be considered your alma matter? Firekiino (talk) 04:55, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
- I looked around for articles on people who either dropped out or did not graduate such as Mark Zuckerberg and Bill gates and it seems the infoboxes use the education section and label whether or not the individual dropped out or whether they simply attended class at the university but did not necessarily graduate Firekiino (talk) 05:29, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
regarding a sentence
[edit]"She turned ten years old the day after her father was elected in 1965 and yet still claims she was a young naive girl during Martial Law." (under "early life") --- forgive me if i'm wrong but reading the source cited (an interview with imee) i can't find the place where she said this (although i might just not have looked hard enough but i'm pretty sure) 🙏 also i feel like something's off with the tone...? i'm not sure though honestly i can't place my finger on it. i've never been on wikipedia as an editor or whatever i just made this account for this but i wanted to bring this up so so sorry if i'm yapping Tuyết-986 (talk) 00:59, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
