Ranchi in Jharkhand[edit]

No need to write NOW Ranchi was in Bihar or it is in Jharkhand, edited where described about Garib Nawaz Rath. Guddu 12:03, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Deification[edit]

Wow, this article seems to make a local god out of Laloo Yadav, while SYSTEMATICALLY ignoring or underestimating his negative sides--him being a curse upon India. Silly, rare articles have been quoted praising him, while blatantly ignoring his long time image among the educated Indian middle class and the media. Everybody just seems to have a "bias" against him--what an excuse! All these constitute serious breach of Wikipedia's NPOV. I have added in the intro that he is known for his caste-based politics, his corruption, and his primary mass appeal lies among the so-called backward castes, and I will not tolerate its removal.Cygnus_hansa 22:48, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

I second this comment. Cygnus_hansa couldn't have been more concise and accurate when he said "he is known for his caste-based politics, his corruption, and his primary mass appeal lies among the so-called backward castes". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.82.157.73 (talk) 07:12, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

This Wikipedia biography seems to be prepared by a staunch fan of Lau Prasad. A much more balanced picture should be presented that should also throw light on his negative impact on the polity and economy of Bihar which lost precious 15 years of development opportunity under his rule which has been often called “jungle raj” or Jungle Rule. A more clear and focussed biography should expose him for a petty corrupt politician with criminal antecedents, that he really is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shanksinha (talkcontribs) 14:14, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Name[edit]

According to the official profile of Lalu Yadav from bhiar his name is Lalu Prasad NOT Lalu Prasad Yadav. http://164.100.24.208/ls/lsmember/biodata.asp?mpsno=2439 even his father's name does not have Yadav in it.

Education Qualification[edit]

I dont think he is a complete illiterate. Can someone add that to this article? Thanks! Wiki San Roze talk 17:53, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

From what I have heard, he is a graduate (B.A., LL.B) from Patna University, but this is not confirmed. The article certainly does not provide a balanced view of Lalu, again which is not his actual name Lakshmi Prasad. Hassmukh
Yes I agree this article has too many hyperboles. It would be difficult to confirm his educational qualification given that the person pretends to be rustic in public. As per Indian Government records his name as Lalu Prasad the issue has been discussed above.Abhishekmathur (talk) 00:44, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

POV[edit]

I am placing a POV and clean-up tag here because this article is partial to Lalu, has unreferenced statements and some very misleading references. The article does not mention his corruption cases, misrule of Bihar and controversies enough. I don't have the time, but someone is requested to clean it up.Cygnus_hansa (talk) 22:54, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

I think your understanding of Lalu Prasad Yadav is based on the media, which has already been claimed in the article to be biased. I think the article is not at all partial to Lalu Prasad Yadav and at the same time need further improvement. I find that some of the editors are biased against Lalu Prasad yadav, which is reflected from some of the edits intending personal attack on him. Manoj nav (talk) 20:13, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia is full of people like cygnus hansa, especially in Indian circle. many of them had got banned earlier, but some seems to be surviving to this date. This guy has also left some uncivil remarks on my talk page. I am deleting another libelous comment by anon.  Ikon |no-blast

The article needs lots of improvements[edit]

The article has not been written like a biography. I don't understand why a subsection - 'Background' has been included, which is generally used while describing an event. It should be named - 'Early life'. I would also request people not to make personal attacks on the name of writing a biography. Manoj nav (talk) 20:49, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

This article needs lot of improvement.[edit]

This article has been edited blatantly and a complete inappropriate paragraph was added which I removed. But still the article needs lot of improvement as it misses citation at lot of face and provides a biased view of the person concerned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.57.24.30 (talk) 20:50, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

yes, the article needs a lot of improvement. I am back after a long time, and can see it has only deteriorated over time, apparently because of bhurabal vandalism rampant on this page. Anyway, I am back to whip these people all around.  Ikon |no-blast

Misuse of Citation[edit]

This article[1], which is just a personal opinion of a person, cannot be used to justify, who gets the credit for turnaround. Kindly refrain from using such references to arrive at conclusions. If important such articles can only be quoted as opinion of some notable personality, which is not the case here. If I don't get suitable explanation, I would remove this from reference and associated sentence would also be removed. Ikon |no-blast 17:23, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

The Politican Career section has a statement to the effect that World Bank lauded his government's work in the 1990's. This statement cites an article dated 2006, when the government headed by Mr Nitish Kumar was in power. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.252.130.51 (talk) 09:58, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Bhumihar[edit]

Bhumihar is a separate community from Brahmins, I had changed it to Bhumihars from the misleading term Bhumihar Brahmins to avoid misunderstanding. Some trolls seem to be prevailing on this page, unfortunately some of whom are also admins, who keep on reverting to incorrect version to air their personal propaganda. I would urge to refrain from this practice too. This page should get immunity from any admin action from an Indian Admin for Obvious reason.  Ikon |no-blast 17:30, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

I am sorry, I have just checked my calender and it won't be possible for me to follow the discussion here in near future, because of insanely busy work schedule. Anyway, i have nothing against any community or persons involved here, just few comments on my talk page and here from the guy called cygnus hansa had got my head spinning. I would take care to edit in positive frame of mind in future, whenever, I get time and I have good faith in Utcursch, please don't mind.  Ikon |no-blast 18:11, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Possible Abuse of Admin Tool[edit]

Once I had pointed out, the entire Turnaround story of Railways, although present in source is not visible in the article. It is possible only through hide tag or some invisible admin tool. It was fixed after I complained in the archived talk. Still I find some sentences, invisible. If someone doubts it either discuss or remove, supressing it through admin tools is highly unfair. Year of fodder scam[edit]

Year of unearthing of fodder scam is wrongly stated as 1986 "A report was published by the BBC news in 1986 according to which the police unearthed a Rs. 1950 crore" this should be should be 1996. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.238.84.65 (talk) 07:02, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Lalu can be regarded as one of the rascals of indian politics.

this guy iconoblast has been active in many online forums and seems to be an active propagandist for Laloo Prasad Yadav. His comments show a clear bias in favour of Laloo and against Nitish-BJP combine.

Gown with Lalu Yadav[edit]

When was this guy born. The article fails to mention even the basic info. Also, the way he ruined the whole state with the help of Congress Stooges is beyond imagination. Such has been disarray of state that even his own brother in law left him for good. He has nothing bust shame to the whole Yadav caste. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Daniash007 (talkcontribs) 18:39, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Rename the article to Lalu Prasad[edit]

His real name is Lalu Prasad. I do not understand why "Yadav" is added here. He uses Yadav during elections to get Yadav votes. Here is his party's official website where is full name "Lalu Prasad" is listed: [2]-- 70.76.85.36 (talk) 13:52, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Lalu Prasad YadavLalu Prasad – As per the discussion one section above. Many references assert that "Lalu Prasad" is moe frequently used. • Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. [6] "Lalu Prasad" without Yadav 386,000 hits; [7] with Yadav 7,220,000 hits. Though his WP:OFFICIALNAME may have changed, newspapers still use his old name with "Yadav" [8] (720) than without it then without it [9] (540)--Redtigerxyz Talk 12:04, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME as above; also per spoken usage in India, even if this is OR. kashmiri TALK 13:04, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Information regarding Jokes on Lalu Prasad[edit]

I propose to introduce one line information about "Lalu Prasad Jokes", as his act, life, gesture and style of functioning has inspired literally thousands of jokes in India. This may be included in "negative image" section. I request other editors to give their opinion.Rayabhari (talk) 09:38, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Yes, you can if there are enough credible sources about it. The kind of website you had used earlier is not reliable source. Plenty of politicians have jokes on them. But If any newspaper or a reliable magazine do comment that jokes are inspired from Lalu, then yes , we can add it. On the other hand, his witty nature is well discussed in media and that, if not added so far can easily be included in the article.--Vigyanitalkਯੋਗਦਾਨ 10:46, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Follow wikipedia guidelines on convicted live person, retain in the lead[edit]

He is national politician, there are guidelines on live person's biographies. a person convicted by court of law by following the due process, has to go in to the article. And, he has been convicted twice. This important aspect must be right there in first line as is the usual case "Lalu is a convicted politician". I am not pro or anti Lalu. I have no agenda to push but I will resist the attempt by his followers to dilute this such as this editor removed the valid edit here to dilute this. Let this pass for once, but next time punish for vandalism. 202.156.182.84 (talk) 03:37, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Clean up: Adding Due Balance while condensing to encyclopedic[edit]

  • Clean up: I am attempting multiple iterations to clean up this article that has organically grown with time with goodfaith content scattered all over. Now, it needs condensing (without losing the essence of the cited sources, without adding POV or diluting things to push pro-Lalu or anti-Lalu agenda).
  • Please add this article to your watch list: I request the experienced editors to added this article to their "watch list". Avert any potential vandalism or edit warring by Lalu-lovers and Lalu-haters. But be kind to them, do not slap them with warnings, guide them with patience and give them lots of rope with kindness, leave a nice mentoring note as to point out wrong behavior and show the right way in an we-are-equal non-patronizing manner.
  • Include only these facts:
    • (a) undisputed facts such as his political career and election-based appointments,
    • (b) proven in the court cases,
    • (c) charged by the national investigating agencies.
  • Do not include pro or anti Lalu content based on the "opinion" of well-known people reported in the reliable newspapers as these are mere POV and not the facts proven in the court of law by following the "due and transparent judicial process". That means some of the content that does not meet this standard will be cut down, but this keeps edit warring to minimum. That way we do not need to appease Lalu-lovers or Lalu-haters, we appease "wikipedia guidelines" with high standards applied for "Fact Checking".
  • Iterative-collaborative improvements: Let me go through few more iterations over next couple of days and then you are welcome to review and enhance my edits 9to avoid we all editing it simultaneously resulting in edit conflict and loss of content. Instead of reverts, let us try improve each other's content by revising it.
  • PS (No Conflict of Interest statement from me): I do not hate Lalu and I find him endearingly entertaining. If he is clean let him go free. If he and his family has corruptly scammed as proven by the court then add it here in unbiased but accurate manner with the due balance.
    Thanks.
    202.156.182.84 (talk) 06:30, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
I agree with fellow-editor's objection/revert that "he was corrupt" must be taken out. Just lave that in that he has been convicted twice and let the people draw conclusions. I have done a lot of clean up, please check, remove any bias, welcome to further clena up language, make sure no dilution of conviction of facts and retain the unbiased due balance. Thanks. 202.156.182.84 (talk) 08:59, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
It's WP:undue to put the information about his convictions in the first sentence. It's covered in the article and in the lede, but it does not need to be in the first sentence. Meters (talk) 17:17, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
We can not bury a very significant and excessively and reliably reported fact at the bottom of the lede. First, it is extremely lame to dilute the significant facts. Doing so will violate the DUE BALANCE. A "serial" "career criminal" must be mentioned in the lede itself. It is rather WP:UNDUE to dilute the facts by not mentioning in the first sentence. How many more times he has to be convicted as a "criminal" before it becomes significant enough to be in the first statement? Lets say if we compromise, first conviction at the bottom of the lede, second conviction graduates him to the middle of the lede, 3rd conviction goes to the first sentence, subsequent conviction through the roof. This guy never stopped scamming, so convictions did not stop either. Given the tsunami of convictions, he deserves a special rule, which is put the conviction in the article namespace. It being recorded in the first sentence is well deserved and fair enough.
Second, it is mentioned in the first sentence, lede and repeatedly in the article that he is a politician. How come its okay to have him repeatedly as politician everywhere and not as criminal? Can not have such "convenient" double standards.
Third, since it is mentioned in the first sentence as a politician and his "serial crimes" and convictions are directly in relation to his "serial political misdeeds". His crimes go hand-in-hand with his politics. he committed those serial crimes as a politician. His criminal conviction goes in the first sentence with him being a "serial convict and politician" as both are inseparably linked.
Fourth, look at it from the reverse direction. It is not as if these are some unrelated crimes. For example, Salman Khan running over the street people has nothing to do with Salman's acting and movies skills, it is to do with his drunken driving.
Fifth, Lalu was disqualified as politician from parliament. he is not just "politician", he is "disqualified politician", first few words in lede says he is "politician" then it should be amended to diswualified politician", and he was disqualified for being "convicted" "criminal" so it is important to qualify in first sentence as to what kind of politician he was, "a multi-convicted serial-criminal disqualified-politician". Encyclopedic wikipedia must get to the facts fast, direct and quick without bias to push anti-view or without DILUTING. As per the courts, Lalu's crimes have everything to do with his position of power as an elected politician who defrauded his poor people and the nation (not my words, this is what multiple courts orders are repeatedly punishing him for). Can't kill/dilute the "immensely-checked massive-facts" to cater for the POV of blinded supporters of the corrupt politicians. Sanity, rationality, due weight, balance, commonsense and no bias.
Finally, I repeat I have no COI (conflict of interest), not related to his pro or anti parties, not related to his state, caste or opponent caste, etc. I have great respect for the Bihar, Biharis, Yadavas, their glorious past, their hardworking past and present contributions. I beg you, please do not be blinded by the casteist loyalties. Nation first, above caste. Above all, fair wikiguidelines first, which I have already justified as above. I am sorry for the pain of supporters about what is happening to our entertaining Laluwa. Please let us accept the facts. Let the fight of preserving his "false image" go. Let us not fight the wrong battles for the corrupt politicians. Right battle to fight is that we should demand all the politicians of all parties to give us the clean world. Please do it for Bharat mata and your conscience. I am not editing to "win" edit war "my way". One article on wikipedia can be allowed to define or impact our "peace of mind". I am just begging you to change the mindset to defend the "corruption". Bura laga, maaf kar dena, itna gyan jhadne ke liye maafi. I am not smarter or wiser. I am a munhfutt bewaqoof. I hope my words reach your soft loving heart. Thanks.
