Requested move 22 March 2024
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: not moved. Consensus is clearly against the proposed move, and there is no indication that further relisting would result in any different outcome. BD2412 T 01:22, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
Murder, Inc. (1960 film) → Murder, Inc. (film) – Sole film that bears this title, thus obviating the need to indicate the year. Although The Enforcer (1951 film) was distributed as "Murder, Inc." in Britain, Murder, Inc. (1951 film) is not an article header, but only a redirect to The Enforcer (1951 film) and redirects should not force titles of actual articles to adopt or enhance parenthetical qualifiers. The 1951 film's listing upon the Murder, Inc. (disambiguation) page currently displays as "Murder, Inc. (1951 film), British title of 1951 film The Enforcer", but that listing would be more intuitively displayed as "Murder, Inc., British title of American crime drama The Enforcer (1951 film)". — Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 00:10, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Comment leaning opposed: The idea that "redirects should not force titles of actual articles to adopt or enhance parenthetical qualifiers" is basically contrary to WP:DAB and obviously contrary to WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT. The suggestion seems basically contrary to WP:NCFILM, and very very few film article titles are like that. The 1951 Humphrey Bogart film seems quite notable and was released as Murder, Inc. in one of the largest English-speaking markets in the world. — BarrelProof (talk) 03:06, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per BarrelProof. * Pppery * it has begun... 03:11, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

- Strong oppose WP:PRECISE ambiguous disambiguation is a bad idea. WP:AT the name should not be ambiguous. The 1951 film is clearly a different topic where the name is an alternate name. -- 65.92.247.66 (talk) 22:51, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Support per WP:SMALLDETAILS. A hatnote can handle any confusion from the less common, secondary name. InfiniteNexus (talk) 22:57, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- WP:SMALLDETAILS is about "typographically near-identical expressions". It is not relevant here. "Murder, Inc." is not typographically nearly identical (or even remotely similar) to "The Enforcer". — BarrelProof (talk) 17:45, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. Ambiguous. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:34, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
