Paging

[edit]

Paging Megalibrarygirl for expansion. (Don't eat all the pumpkin pies before I get back...) Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:50, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oooh! Ritchie333 did you know that today was National Ag Day? And did you say.... pumpkin... pie!!!!!??!!111?! Yummers! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 18:21, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, she also went by Sarah Frey-Talley. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 18:38, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know that, but it does seem to be appropriate to be writing about, as you might put it, a kick-ass pumpkin farmer. The Frey-Talley comes from when she was married, then she reverted to her maiden name. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 20:20, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fascinating sidelight

[edit]

According to the article,

As of 2017, Frey Farms is the largest H-2A employer in Illinois, and recruits around 250 staff to assist with the pumpkin harvest

Following the link, I learn that H-2A is a liquid-fueled rocket used to launch satellites into orbit and so on – no mention of their use in pumpkin harvesting or other forms of agriculture. One or the other article should be expanded to explain this intriguing connection. EEng 21:19, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, H2A is a liquid fueled rocked used to deliver temporary agricultural workers into often deplorable conditions in the US. From my own great Commonwealth (not state) of Kentucky. GMGtalk 21:56, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, we don't have H-2As over this side of the pond so I'm unfamiliar with the term. Mind you, I am intrigued to know if you could harvest pumpkins via liquid-fueled rockets now. It'll make the harvest go off like a, well, bang. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 22:20, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
(In continued gross violation of NOTFORUM, don't judge me, I'm cooking dinner) Nah. Liquid can be turned off. It's the solid you have to watch out for.[1]

Her name

[edit]

Her book, she is credited as author under the name of Sarah Marie Talley. All recent references refer to her exclusively as "Sarah Frey-Talley". Neither of these are covered in the article. It appears that, at the very least, the article should be moved to "Sarah Frey-Talley". The Rambling Man (talk) 21:39, 19 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That was likely her married name, she's now divorced —valereee (talk) 19:35, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious notability

[edit]

I just removed a Guardian source that was subtitled "paid for by Principal", i.e. it was a paid article. The notability here is a little suspect. I see prnewswire used as a source... how much of this is paid hype? It's a reasonable question.104.163.159.237 (talk) 03:00, 24 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I (re)-wrote most of the article from scratch. I didn't get so much as an "attaboy", let alone anything of monetary value! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:04, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
