Proposal: change no contest to win for bradley

[edit]

I dont think one decision by California State Athletic Commission should speak for the whole boxing world. All references agree Bradley dominated the frist 3 rounds in the fight againnst nate campbell, and the referee also ruled it a win for Bradley. Either of the following decisions should be used instead of No Contest:

There is a lot of mess in that section. The Lamont Petersen fight is under the Bradley-Campbell fight.

About the Bradley-Campbell fight: the fight is officially a No Contest. That is California State Athletic Comission that decides that, not random fans. The rules states very clearly, that if a fight is stopped before the end of the fourth round by a cut caused by an accidental headbutt, it is a No Contest. So everything is according to the rules. So I will bring this section in order in a couple of days, if there are no protests.

I think it should be Bradley's Victory, he was the better fighter in those first 3 rounds it should be counted as TD. The referee ruled it as a win so it should be a win. It looks bad on his record. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.21.50.94 (talk) 02:21, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bradley is a cheat! He didn't deserve to get the belt! Everyone knows Pacquiao won and he even knows that. I hate Timothy Bradley and whoever else cheated to help him win! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.255.108.147 (talk) 05:45, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fighting out of?

[edit]

For the Bradley-Alexander fight, he was announced as fighting out of North Palm Springs. [1] I think that is where he is always announced as fighting out of. Is there any reason not to change the first sentence to reflect that?--Don King's hair (talk) 20:55, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vegan diet?

[edit]

Shouldn't Bradley's vegan diet be mentioned on the page? There are various sources affirming that he views it as very important to his training: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204520204577247533423440946.html http://www.badlefthook.com/2012/2/28/2829768/pacquiao-vs-bradley-timothy-bradley-vegan-diet-next-fight-boxing-news — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.172.205.125 (talk) 06:45, 10 June 2012 (UTC) [reply]

Professional Record =

[edit]

Is the Bradley vs. Pacquio content in the note section necessary? Makes it all bunched up and unorganized. Just leave that in the section about the fight and not the professional record section. -Mcanmoocanu 20:07, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The WBO review doesn't belong in the notes section.--Don King's hair (talk) 07:18, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requested Move

[edit]

It has been proposed in this section that Timothy Bradley be renamed and moved to Timothy Bradley, Jr..
Timothy BradleyTimothy Bradley, Jr. – The fighter appears to go by Jr. example his twitter https://twitter.com/Timbradleyjr and official website http://timothydesertstormbradley.com/

Opposed. Reliable sources don't use the jr. For example [2]. That is also how he is listed in Boxrec.com.--Don King's hair (talk) 21:28, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WBO junior-welterweight champion

[edit]

Read Timothy Bradley beats Devon Alexander to win WBC super-lightweight title. It says WBO junior-welterweight title and WBC super-lightweight.--Don King's hair (talk) 03:04, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That doesn't explain anything. Junior welterweight is just another name for Light welterweight. The official way to categorize it is Light Welterweight. Even your precious boxrec list it that way [3]. And all these links you keep posting when I gave you links and articles proving Tim bradley goes by Jr. but you didn't seem to care about that so why should I about this? --2Nyce (talk) 13:15, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, junior welterweight is the same weight class as light welterweight. Who made the name official? The WBO calls it the junior welterweight division. When listing a championship, we should use the name that is actually written on the belt. For example "Bradley opted to keep the WBO junior welterweight title."[4]
BoxRec has their own way for doing a whole lot of things that I don't agree with. If you would like to rename this article please discuss it in a seperate section. I do care about what it is named and if the WP:commonname is Jr. we should change it.--Don King's hair (talk) 20:39, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Response to third opinion request:
Official names dont necessarily mean anything. Per: Wikipedia:OFFICIAL. Take a read of that. But generally, if you were reading a boxing publication... which name would be used? Chances are that we should use that one. Just as we wouldn't insist on Guinea Pig being called Cavia porcellus, unless there was a specific reason to do so. Also, chances are if one name is on the belt itself, then thats what it should be called. -- Nbound (talk) 01:42, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The most respected boxing publication The Ring uses WBO junior welterweight. For example in Bradley eyes Pacquiao, discusses drug testing it says "RingTV.com spoke to WBO junior welterweight titleholder Tim Bradley..."--Don King's hair (talk) 19:28, 27 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

3O Response: Generally this would be the name you would then use (as long as other sources were in agreement aswell). Check out WP:TITLE for other reasoning used to choose article titles that may or may not be applicable. Nbound (talk) 22:58, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Other sources are in agreement on using "WBO junior welterweight" when discussing the title. The New York Times writes "He was referring to the W.B.O. junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley ..." in [5]. As shown above, The Guardian, The Ring and the WBO write it this way.--Don King's hair (talk) 20:42, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Neither Don King's hair or TwoNyce have a clue what the format of weight divisions, titles, and record tables should be.

Timothy BradleyTimothy Bradley, Jr. – Sources to implicate name change [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] [14]. The same thing that is done with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Roy Jones, Jr. should be done here. relisted Tiggerjay (talk) 06:01, 23 April 2013 (UTC)--2Nyce (talk) 16:29, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment His own website has him as "Tim" Bradley Jr., so I think that holds more say than any other source out there. Even his own personal twitter reads "Timothy Bradley Jr". --2Nyce (talk) 20:23, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
On the homepage of his web site I see "Timothy ″Desert Storm″ Bradley" once, "Timothy Bradley" three times, "Tim Bradley" once, "Tim Bradley Jr." once and "Timothy Bradley, Jr." zero times.--Don King's hair (talk) 19:11, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Go read again. His own personal twitter and im gonna put the link for you AGAIN [18] reads "Timothy Bradley Jr." I rest my case --2Nyce 15:20, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - the naming convention should be based on what their WP:COMMONNAME is. Based on the majority of references used in the article itself, they make no mention of the suffix, Jr. As such I am inclined to leave the article as it currently is. The subjects preference for the inclusion of Jr is of minor significance here. Tiggerjay (talk) 06:00, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
