The Vineyard is a road in Richmond, London. It includes three groups of almshouses,[1][2][3] a Grade II listed church (St Elizabeth of Portugal Church)[4] and Clarence House, a 17th-century Grade II listed house associated with Bernardo O’Higgins,[5][6] who is commemorated on the wall of the property with a blue plaque, installed by English Heritage, for his work in the Chilean War of Independence.[6][nb 1]

Notes

  1. ^ The plaque, installed in July 1994, reads: "Bernardo O'Higgins, 1778–1842, General, Statesman and Liberator of Chile, lived and studied here". "Blue plaques". Visit Richmond. London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Retrieved 7 May 2013.
