vDinar or virtual Dinar (code: VDN) is a regionally oriented peer-to-peer open source cryptocurrency targeting people from former Yugoslavia running on a proof-of-work system and a new implementation of the Adaptive N Scrypt algorithm called vCrypt, devolving 2% of the produced money supply in donations.[1][2] vDinar's author distributed the source code under MIT software license.[1]
vCrypt algorithm/protocol[edit]
The vCrypt algorithm or protocol is based upon the Adaptive N Scrypt algorithm and mostly preserves its characteristics. It is for that reason usually referred as a protocol, as its different name had to highlight the incompatibility with existing blockchains due to external structure differences.[2] Another reason for the vCrypt algorithm/protocol separation from Adaptive N Scrypt algorithm was its new way of setting the "N factor", based on time spans instead of timestamps. This led vDinar to differ from Adaptive N Scrypt cryptocurrencies as Vertcoin using fixed timestamps to set the N factor.[3]
