  • I worked on the images; swapped out both the encyclopedia and the dictionary. I found a new reference for the tart. Last item: Is five sensations a reliable source? Probably not. What to do? I am having trouble finding a reliable source for those two minor points. I could use the cathloic encylopeida for one, and maybe this for the other [[:File:Navarrete pavement camino marker.jpg|A pavement marker indicates the route of the Way of St James through Navarrete, La Rioja, Spain]]. --evrik (talk) 03:58, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

GAN fail comments

[edit]

Hey, I saw you closed the discussion at Talk:Protist/GA1 and it left me with some unanswered questions. Isn't the reviewing period supposed to last 7 days? How come it can be failed before 5 of the aforementioned days? Especially before a second round of edits could be made on my part. Did I address your comments wrong in the first round? I never got to address the newer comments. Overall I get the feeling that Wikipedia follows a faster rhythm that I still haven't grasped. Although it is a relief that I'm no longer time-constrained, I would like to understand the GAN process better, especially for the future Protist nomination, because it left me quite confused. Thank you anyways for all of your review comments, I'll make sure to implement them and make the article more readable for a wider audience. —Snoteleks 🦠 11:11, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

@Snoteleks First and foremost, thank you so much for reaching out!! So, WP:GA has a policy colloqually referred to as Quickfailing. I understand that I said I'd be lenient with time, but the general rule is that if the issues for an article would take more than 7 days to correct then it should be failed. In this case, the prose, MOS, and unsourced section issues require a substantial rewrite of the page.
Normally, there is a longer wait time, however the backlog drive is speeding things along much faster. I tend to do science oriented reviews, and a lot of your work catches my interest. If you'd like help with the article please let me know, once the backlog drive ends I won't have much on my plate. 🏵️Etrius ( Us) 11:55, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to Eastern Europe or the Balkans, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
