Welcome!

Hello, 293.xx.xxx.xx/archive01, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place helpme on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 00:02, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Name[edit]

I saw you revert the vandalism and then I saw your user name which made me laugh. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 00:12, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

I second that.--Malomeat 06:28, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

Wikilink code[edit]

Hi there. Just so you know, for wikilinks, when the article name is the same as how you want it to be displayed, you only have to do the Stig instead of the Stig. It doesn't matter if the very first letter is capitalized or not, but the rest is case sensitive. It doesn't really matter if it is repeated, but it simplifies things. I did make the change for the Top Gear subarticle [1]. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message. --PS2pcGAMER (talk) 01:57, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

No need for an apology at all. It wasn't a problem at all. I just noticed that you were new to Wikipedia and I wasn't sure if you were familiar with the syntax, and since it can be a lot to learn when first starting out, I figured I'd drop you a message. Happy editing!--PS2pcGAMER (talk) 03:29, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Ferrari Enzo[edit]

I made a few changes. [2] The section seemed a little too specific to me. Someone who may not be familiar with the show wouldn't know who Clarkson or the Stig was, so I filled that info in. If there is anything else, feel free to let me know. BTW, you have a cool username. --PS2pcGAMER (talk) 06:02, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Initial D[edit]

Regarding your edits on the Initial D page. Please do not remove large sections of text without explanation and consensus unless it is a copyright vio.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 07:26, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Help has arrived[edit]

You wanted some help, here I am! How can I help you? You can ask your questions right here, and I will respond.--JoanneB 09:28, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

I placed the query on CambridgeBayWeather talk page about a questionable edit on the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari page. The page got messed up alot.--293.xx.xxx.xx 09:30, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

I think it would be a good idea to discuss it on the talk page, if you're not sure what the intentions of the other editors were. Regards, --JoanneB 11:54, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Ferrari Enzo Ferrari[edit]

I think from looking at the article from here onward that most of the anon edits were just attempts to improve. There was one obvious case of vandalism but it got removed. I think that the edits made by 67.53.204.87 here may include a Ferrari press release which may need to be removed as it is POV. I would suggest the following based on the look of the article rather than the information:

 • Get some information back above the table of contents. That's standard.
 • Rmove some of the stuff that makes it look like an advert. It might be a great car but Ferrari has made many over the years.
 • This "The car is named for Ferrari's founder, Enzo Ferrari who died in 1988. Ferrari is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the U.S., the company's biggest market, and the one that Enzo Ferrari championed for its strategic importance to automakers." does not fit as the starting sentence. The naming reason give for the article should be first.
 • Get rid of the bits of bold in the sentences like 6.0-liter, 660-horsepower V-12 engine it really does not look good.
 • Take a look at Katie Holmes and Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Katie Holmes. Rather than having inline links to external sites for the references have the article link to a reference section that can then link to the external section.
 • A good idea is to make a User:293.xx.xxx.xx/Sandbox. Then you can play with the article to your hearts content.
 • One last thing, if you can look at the article in multiple screen resolutions. What looks good to me at 1280x1024 looks crap at 800x600.

Hope this helps. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 14:16, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Another question: I found some additional info about Discovery Channel's stance on Top Gear (US and UK-edit versions) on their message boards. Here is one that I managed to find:

discovery-channel Member Registered: 12-15-05

Posted 02-14-06 03:01 PM Thanks for the comments; we can't always respond, but know that we're reading them and taking what's said into consideration.

And Top Gear fans, we're definitely hearing ya!

Kristen Program Development, Discovery Channel

However, I remember somewhere in the rules that message board posts don't count as citable sources. Just wanted to clarify and get your take on it.--293.xx.xxx.xx 09:22, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Normally, message boards are frowned upon. However, especially in this case, I think it would be an acceptable source. A Discovery Channel employee posting on a Discovery Channel forum is good enough for me (and probably most people) as a source. --PS2pcGAMER (talk) 10:47, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
User:293.xx.xxx.xx/Sandbox Found two posts on the message boards, edited in sandbox. Good enough, or tweaking? --293.xx.xxx.xx 11:14, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Seems ok to me. By the way, are you British? Do you know if the Brits spell it as "Americanised" or "Americanized"? I think it is the former, but I'm American and am not really exposed to very much British English spelling. --PS2pcGAMER (talk) 11:20, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

La vie en rose[edit]

hi, difference between Spoo and this article is that spoo contains copious references to the authorship process. while La vie en rose article would be an excellent addition to "gundampedia" it never discusses authorship and therefore reads like fancruft. see also WP:WIAGA but i think the briansmithson link already given is the best to answer your questions. Mustang SSP pictures[edit]

With regard to the MANY Mustang SSP pictures you have uploaded from various sources claiming fair use, I'm afraid they're mostly going to have to go. I'm giving you fair warning, but I am going to nominate most of them for deletion. Fair use can only be claimed when no uncopyrighted alternatives are possible and when the use of hte copyrighted material is necessary to illustrate the concept. It is clearly not necessary to have picture after picture, "borrowed" from other websites without permission, to show what the Mustang SSP looked like. If you have a favorite of those pics, let me know so I don't put it up for deletion. Thanks, and sorry.  B.Rossow talkcontr Thursday, April 20, 2006 @ 12:36 (UTC)

--Cactus.man 00:22, 26 April 2006 (UTC) ==Please Use Edit Summaries==

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

4kids[edit]

The section I edited was and is in major need of tlc. It is about as far from neutral as you can get and provides mostly one-sided views. wikipedida is not a public bash <company name here> forum. (Ke5crz 18:12, 21 June 2006 (UTC))

Also the guy who reverted me before was not even signed in (an ip address in the edit history page) if he had problems with it he should have signed in. The nature of what 4kids dose will inevitably bring criticisms but criticism should be balanced and not one-sided.(Ke5crz 18:20, 21 June 2006 (UTC))

Image copyright problem with Image:1143362622958.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:1143362622958.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigDT 05:44, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Not using it, not in any article, don't care, delete as you will. Simple as that. Thank you. --293.xx.xxx.xx 06:31, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Ok ... if you do nothing, it will be automatically deleted in a week or so. Optionally, you can tag it with db-author to request immediate deletion. BigDT 13:07, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

The Stig[edit]

Very sneaky, having a talk page with no user page. Anyway, I don't appreciate the unwarranted "vandalism" tag you left me over The Stig - vandalism is classed as multiple malicious edits of a page that add no relevant information to the article. In future, please read WP:VAND and WP:AGF before arbitrarily handing out vandalism templates. CNash 21:37, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

The pointlessness of the information is debateable. Had you actually read the Vin Diesel Fact Generator article (because you obviously didn't), you would've seen the connection. I have no wish to argue further about this - the vandalism tag was clearly unwarranted in this situation. On Wikipedia, if you see an edit that you want to correct or change, common policy is to simply be bold and change it - don't go around taking umbrage at every piddly little detail that annoys you. Again, I ask you to read WP:AGF BEFORE applying vandalism warning tags when the situation does not call for it. CNash 23:28, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Please check Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Man-Faye_(2nd_nomination) I want to reply to DrJones statement to mine, but I feel my response might be construed as an attack that would violate the Deletion policy. My response would be "Just because I haven't done anything to the article yet doesn't disqualify me from supporting the article from being deleted. Plus I feel that was a personal attack against me." On a seperate note, I feel that the AfD might get heated between us further. Please advise. --293.xx.xxx.xx 05:44, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

4Kids Entertainment[edit]

I appreciate your attempt to end vandalism on the 4Kids Entertainment article, but just so you know, adding the tag does nothing. Only administrators can protect pages. And looking at the page, I don't think there is enough vandalism for it to be protected. 1-2 edits a day isn't enough. It's easily reverted. But again, I do appreciate your efforts. --Woohookitty(meow) 08:50, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

And if you still think it should be protected, you can request it here. --Woohookitty(meow) 08:51, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Honestly, not really. As I said, it's only a couple of edits a day. I'll watchlist the page and help out. --Woohookitty(meow) 08:58, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

How do I get the copyright disputed tags off the images tagged above? The person who nominated them for deletion never posted it in the relevant deletion logs, and he failed to notice the links in the image page itself apparently.

The images above have fairly been tagged with "Replaceable fair use" tag as they fair first fair use criterion. If you wish to dispute this claim, follow the instructions attached to the tag. You did place the dispute tag on them, but this can be removed if you do not post reasons why you are disputing it along with a detailed fair use rationale as to why it passes every single fair use criteria. Roguegeek (talk) 06:41, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Request second opinion seeing the responder had done the tagging himelf and might be providing a bias opinion.--293.xx.xxx.xx 06:46, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

The question is whether you can get a free image to replace it. There are certainly too many fair use images on that page. Only 1 should be on there. If you can't find a free image to replace it, then 1 should be fine until one can be found. —Centrxtalk • 06:57, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

It has been my experience that any fair use vehicle image will be deleted unless it is a pre-production model that has not been publicly shown yet. The images in question have, obviously, been in the public eye for quite some time now. Roguegeek (talk) 07:16, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Ford Mustang SSP Pictures[edit]

If you bothered to read fair use criteria, you'd see these images don't pass first fair use criterion. Go ahead and dispute it. I did, after all, give you the chance to do so. I find it very hard to believe the admins will overturn the deletion of these images. The bottom line is the vehicle did exist in public and that's more than enough proof to say free use images could exist. I, personally, have absolutely no want to find alternatives for them. I just want to get rid of any failed fair use images on Wikipedia and these images you uploaded do fail. Roguegeek (talk) 06:36, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

I am allowed to answer your question above especially since you are claimed the user (me) posted those tags incorrectly. Once again, please read WP:FUC. Roguegeek (talk) 06:46, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
I encourage you to find other users (especially admins) to help you with your questions. If you are unable to read the policies set by Wikipedia, then maybe an admin can help explain them to you. Roguegeek (talk) 06:51, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
I do apologies if that came off offensively, but I, too, felt as though your original post of how I improperly posted a tag was also offensive. My rationale to this would be you wouldn't have claimed the tag to be improperly posted if you did read the policy. I'm done responding to any of this for now. I'll just let the admins decide on what to do with the images when they come up for review. Roguegeek (talk) 07:00, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
