It should be clear from the diff that I did not vandalize this page. I was merely cleaning up after destructive edits by 216.131.29.178. Thanks.68.117.129.156 (talk) 05:07, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Noticed you goofed a bit. FYI, if you do again, all you have to do is goto the page history button, open the history, click your edit (which should be the top of the page), & hit undo... (I've boobed, too, & used it. ;D) Just put "rv self" in the edit summary. You can try again to get what you intended, too, if you go back one. Colloidal Crystal

[edit]

I've been working on the page Colloidal Crystal, so if anyone who happens to read this please take a look. Abce2 (talk) 03:52, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Abce2[reply]

Hi Abce2! Colloidal crystal has been written by a newcomer to Wikipedia. He (or she) doesn't yet have the skill to present citations in the format for Wikipedia to display them automatically, but at least he has been extremely diligent in providing citations, and lots of them. You have deleted the essential information so now there is no link between statements in the article and the references at the bottom of the page. All Wikipedia articles must be supported by citations to indicate the source of each item of information. I will restore the citations in parentheses so that someone, Logger9 or me or anybody else, can eventually convert the citations into the best format. Please don't delete them. Happy editing! Club Penguin Talk

[edit]

Hi! While generally you're right, and we shouldn't delete talk posts, there are exceptions: the main ones are those that are seriously out of place, such as BLP concerns and attack posts, but sometimes we also tend to get a lot of forum-like posts which need to be removed per WP:NOTFORUM. This is especially a problem on Club Penguin, as there is a tendancy for people to want to post their in-game details in order to make friends, which is a great thing, only this isn't the place to do it. :) Anyway, sorry for any confusion, as I should have posted a better edit summary, but I figured that I should let you know why I deleted the comments. - Bilby (talk) 01:18, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your Post at WP:UAA

[edit]

I noticed your post at the bottom of UAA. I just wanted to give you a heads up that if you feel that there is a username that is a blatant violation of the username policy, you are more than welcome to report it. In addition to reports from users, there is also a bot that scans usernames as they are created to look for problems. Cheers, TNXMan 03:29, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yumekui Kenbun

[edit]

Just a friendly note on Yumekui Kenbun. While the article wasn't exactly clear, it definitely didn't meet the definition of patent nonsense: "Pages consisting purely of incoherent text or gibberish with no meaningful content or history. This does not include poor writing..." Also, putting a speedy tag on an article like this just one minute after creation is considered a bit bitey by many Wikipedians. Best thing to do in a situation like that is a quick gsearch (which is what let me add the intro), and tag for things like refs and notability. Regarding the categorization of the 11th Regiment of Connecticut Militia article

[edit]

Please take a look at Category:Connecticut in the American Revolution and note that the sub category Category:Connecticut regiments of the Continental Army contains the 1st, the 1st of 1775, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th. Thanks to your reversal of my change it does not contain the 11th. Note that according to WP:SUBCAT"Subcategories are often created in order to break down the members of a category into smaller sets which are easier to browse. This means that articles belonging to such a subcategory should not be placed in the parent category also. For example, Category:Bridges is broken down by country, so Angers Bridge appears in Category:Bridges in France, but not in the parent Category:Bridges.". Your reversal of my edit seems to be in violation of those recommendations. 67.86.73.252 (talk) 02:50, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question on revert/warning

[edit]

I don't have a big problem with this edit being reverted, but I don't at all understand why you then warned them. Could you please explain what made their sandbox edit vandalism?--OnoremDil 01:12, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That seems pretty weak for a vandalism warning. Looks like it isn't your first of the day for fairly tame sandbox edits either. I realize that even the sandbox has limits, but cut people some slack...or at least explain with something other than a templated vandalism warning what might not be appropriate about it.--OnoremDil 01:18, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

If they're adding external links, just delete 'em; it falls under "no spam". If it's content that sounds like an ad, you could try rewriting it so it's less "ad-like" (which could get it challenged & deleted for no reliable source), or, if you're inclined, verify with a good source & rewrite. Hope this helps. TREKphiler hit me ♠ 19:37, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am very aware of the rules here regarding civility. I'd like to direct your attention to WP:LTA/MG. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:37, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for biting you, but I was still seething from this latest rash of sockpuppet accounts. I'll delete the comment; he has never once answered anyone on a talk page. You were right to point it out to me and I shouldn't have bitten back. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:41, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I figured I owe you one...

[edit]

...so I have given you rollback rights. This poor, misused site can't have enough vandal slayers and you've more than earned the tool. Makes me feel a bit better after biting you the other day as well.  :) Enjoy the new privilege; I know you'll use it well. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 00:59, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • My bad...! I thought you knew. It means that you can roll back vandalism to an existing article with a single mouse click. So, if someone does a bunch of rapid-fire vandalism to an existing article (or even one or two bad edits) all it'll take is a click to send the article back to the last good version. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:04, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You bet. As I said, you more than earned the right. Gotta run; have fun! --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:08, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No prob. If you go into the edit history of a vandalized article, you'll now have an option simply marked "rollback" next to the last edit. If the last edit(s) was vandalism, it'll revert all edits from that user back to the last good edit. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 20:36, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I honestly appreciate that. Enjoy the new tools. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 20:41, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"MascotGuy" socks

[edit]

Re. that "Canada's Favorite Mascot" idiot: Don't bother leaving word because this individual has never in nearly five years of his garbage has yet to place so much as a single keystroke on a talk page. All the info on this joker can be found right here. The system only allows about six sub-accounts, so there isn't much he can do there on his sockpuppet creations, but do check to see if a sock has attempted to edit an article. All his edits are revertable on sight. Good timing on my part; I just swung by the new user log to check on repeat vandalism and I managed to block him before he did too much damage. I goota run, but if you have a moment, leave note on that sockpuppet notice to have a checkuser run on the account. I think a range block is more than warranted at this point. ...but as outlined elsewhere, I was in a hurry. It's only my user page, which was clearly used as a sandbox. I realise that vandalism is a problem on Wikipedia, and I understand the goals and principles of the project - take a look at my previous activity if you don't believe me. Not trying to continue an argument, but it seems that I've now come across a situation which I'm hearing continuing numbers of people complaining about. Tomjol (talk) 01:39, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you are not obliged to log in, but if you edit a userpage as an IP how should anybody know it's your own? That's why I reverted the userpage. But if you find it necessary to call somebody trying to protect your userpage's integrity a nazi... then you should maybe refrain from expressing that on the userpage of somebody who had only tried to be helpful. Wouldn't that be nice? --Catgut (talk) 01:53, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, fair enough, I understand that you were just trying to do the right thing and I overreacted. Adding a hangon template merely lists the article for speedy deletion again, so I removed it. Now that it's at prod, you have 5 days to improve it, if you can. Is Cad Bane a major character? Give at least references to where he appears, exactly. Is he Canon? say so. Keep the article in some proportion to relative importance. Add references providing substantial coverage from third party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs. If you can do that , remove the prod. Your signature

[edit]

Good evening sir, I strongly advise you to change your signature - here's why. Cheers, - filelakeshoe 03:03, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, your signature currently reads {{User:Abce2/sig}}. This is not allowed because it transcludes a page, which can mess up talk pages being archived by bots, eats up server space, and if that user page ever gets vandalised, that vandalism will be transcluded onto thousands of talk pages. Basically, just copy the content of User:Abce2/siginto the signature box in preferences. - filelakeshoe 03:11, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In that case it's too long, signatures aren't allowed to be more than 255 characters, which is what the preferences window limits it to (see Wikipedia:Signature#Length) so you need to shorten it. - filelakeshoe 11:02, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree, check WP:SIG, it's quite explicitly disallowed, per developer decree even, and per a current RfC. If it's too long, you'll have to shorten it.
Cheers,Amalthea 11:20, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your warm welcoming to Wikipedia!! I love your picture of cookie :) By the way, I have a question about posting a media. How can I upload a photo or music??

Smtownlove (talk) 03:18, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is a nice picture
Being as I'm passing, might as well answer this;
As long as it is your own picture, or is copyright free, then you should go to commons and follow the simple instructions there. You have to choose a licence ('public domain' is nice and simple, if you're happy to give up all your copyrights). Upload it, note the filename, and then use it in Wikipedia like any other image, ie [[File:Cairns birdwing - melbourne zoo.jpg|thumb|This is a nice picture]] - which results in the pic shown here.
If you get stuck, either;
  • Create a new section on your own talk page, and put {{helpme}} followed by your question, or
  • talk to us live.

SPI

[edit]

I've closed your most recent request at WP:SPI. You didn't provide any evidence of any link between the accounts (with such a common joke name, evidence is necessary) and the accounts you listed are already indefinitely blocked. You have filed many improperly formatted or insufficiently formatted SPI requests. Can I suggest that in the future, you contact an SPI clerk or an administrator before you file a request so that we can avoid unnecessary work for everyone? Would you like help?

[edit]

Would you like me to help you in placing your Koala userbox in the proper format on the new userboxes page? You wanted to share it with the Wikipedia community, and perhaps I should have helped you instead of deleting it. However, I was tired at the time, and did not have the patience to reformat it. If you would like me to show you, or do it for you, just let me know.--Ryo (talk) 03:22, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ok its very simple and I'll give you the script you need to make it work. First of all you need the code which is associated with your box. This will be the title which you used to create it. (the small link which you post to place it in your profile) then place the format like this: (I will use mine as an example)

usbktop

usbk|User:Bloodknight/Canada World Wars

usbkbottom

Also make sure that there are {{ }} brackets on each side of each of the 3 sentences. (I did not place them here because it would then place the box in your profile. It should then look like this:

Code Result
{{User:Bloodknight/Canada World Wars}}
This user is interested in Canada in the World Wars.
Usage

I will check it on the page to make sure it worked out for you--Ryo (talk) 03:35, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've looked into it, and the format of your koala box is actually incorrect. The code of it has to be changed for it to go properly into the new userbox page. I'll get back to you in a few minutes.--Ryo (talk) 04:01, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have it resolved

[edit]

I have helped you out here and have completely fixed the format of the userbox. All you have to do is to copy and paste this information in the new userboxes page:

usbktop

usbk|User:abce2/koala

usbkbottom

(With the double { } brackets on each line) Then replace the old koala box information in your userpage with User:abce2/koala (and put double { } around it. --Ryo (talk) 04:28, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a band...

[edit]

Who can i contact to add my band under the synthpop wikipedia, since my band is a modern synthpop band? If I cant edit it myself due to it getting deleted, can someone else edit this and add my band..If so, who? So i can contact them with my info..Can you add me on the synthpop bands list with "Brand New Day" for the B's and "EuroVision" for the E's?

Thanks.. Joe Ramey

Also, If I cant put myself up on the synthpop list for Brand New Day, then can you or someone else.

If so, here is some general info on Brand New Day that you can add under the modern synthpop bands section.

Brand New Day is a diverse electronic pop project working with various vocalists and remixers throughout the electronic music scene.

Brand New Day evolved from the dark synthpop band, EuroVision which lasted from 1996-2005 and had released 2 CD's and 2 Singles. Brand New Day has released the debut CD "Starting Over" in 2005 the single, "Style" in 2008 and the 2nd CD "Take Cover" in spring of 2009.

If you cant, if you can let me know who can or if i can myself.. Thanks..

I would also like to know how to make a wikipedia search about , instead of it just showing "Sting's CD of the same name back in the late 90's"..

Thanks... Joe Ramey BND —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brandnewday1967 (talkcontribs) 13:39, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rehab project queries

[edit]

Hi, Abce2. I see your invitation to join the User Rehab project on several user talk pages I monitor, and three things come to mind: First off, this looks like a very worthy — and long overdue — project, and I am giving serious thought to joining, though I haven't yet read the project page carefully enough to determine if an invitation is required or if anyone may join at will.

Secondly, I am not quite sure I'm correctly understanding the intent and scope of your distribution of invitations. Are you inviting a mix of those with a history of helping rehabilitate problematic contributors and contributors who themselves have been problematic? If so, then I've no comment. But if you're trying specifically to invite those who have some track record of helping bring about coöperation from formerly-rogue contributors, and are not trying to invite problematic contributors, then I would urge you to please take a more careful look at the talk pages and contrib histories of those you're considering inviting before doing so. In the case of at least one recipient of your invitation, the editor in question is more appropriate as a recipient than as a source of counselling through the rehab program. He has a history of uncoöperative, discourteous editing behaviour and tendentious discussion style. I don't wish to identify the editor to whom I refer; I just ask that you please give a bit of additional thought if it is warranted.

Finally, will you please not put links in section headings, as you've been doing with your invitations? A link in a section heading, when clicked, opens the edit page for that link in the current browser window or tab. It's a nuisance for whoever clicks on the link intending to go to the linked page, not edit it. For that reason, such placement of links is generally not used. Unless you've a specific reason for doing it the way you're doing it, might you consider please putting the link in the body text of your message instead of in its section heading? Thanks! —Scheinwerfermann T·C06:44, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TherapistFinder

[edit]

Sorry we are new to this, as we are non-profit, not marketing/web firm, so not sure communicating w/ you the correct way. Here is our response re: TherapistFinder:

REASON TO KEEP: TF has been launched not so much as a directory but more as an education tool. During CAMFT's survey of mental health in California it was discovered that other than 35 yr+ white and black females, the typical consumer did not understand what therapy was, why it was used, that insurance paid for it, and the expansiveness aside from psychotropic drugs. Minority cultures and men were two groups who did not realize the benefit of therapy, that they could utilize insurance, or what all was encompased. TF is being used in exhibits, news segments, magazine articles, etc. to promote mental health awareness. It is not a tool being used by CAMFT to make money, in fact CAMFT loses a couple hundred thousand dollars a year on it. It is being used to educate the public on mental health, and mental health resources. The reason for doing a Wikipedia article on it is to future use the trademark to help educate the consumer not only on TF itself, but the motivation behind TF...educate the consumer on the different therapists who practice, how insurance is/can be used by patients, as well as the kinds of mental health issues that affect the average consumer. We were gonna ad clips about TF but thought that would be to advertis-y. We really just want to continue in our venture to help educate consumers on mental health awareness. We are open to ideas on how to not sound like an ad...but be helpful to the public lose the stigma of mental health therapy. Thanks, CAMFT —Preceding unsigned comment added by Camftcamft (talkcontribs) 22:08, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
