Your contributed article, List of all NASCAR Series

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, List of all NASCAR Series. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – NASCAR. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at NASCAR – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 14:13, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:NASCAR Euro Series logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:NASCAR Euro Series logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Disputed non-free use rationale for Files

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:ACT US Bond Tour logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NtheP (talk) 19:15, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

There are strict rules about the use of non free content on Wikipedia which have to be adhered to. in essence you can't go plastering non free logos all over an article. While something like File:NHMS track logo.jpg would probably be acceptable on the article about New Hampshire Motor Speedway (as long as a separate non free rationale]] was added, it is not acceptable in the article about ACT. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of auto racing tracks in the United States, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Claremont (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Nomination of List of beverages/soft drinks for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of beverages/soft drinks is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of beverages/soft drinks until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kingdom Cab requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 06:15, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful.

Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:23, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Road course ringer, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Michael McDowell (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

File permission problem with File:Devils bowl kart track.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Devils bowl kart track.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:56, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Devil's Bowl Speedway, Fair Haven, VT.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Devil's Bowl Speedway, Fair Haven, VT.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 10:09, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Composition of the Vermont State Legislature

[edit]

@Blunter Mercury 6: If members have run with the endorsements of two parties, it seems to me they ought to appear in Wikipedia as legislators of those two parties. Some ran as Democrats and Progressives. Some ran as Progressives and Democrats. If a legislator appears in the legislature's records and the media as P/D or D/P, I think they ought to appear the same way in Wikipedia.

You've undone a lot of work I did earlier this year to update the Vermont Senate. If you don't agree with my assessment, I'm willing to discuss it.

Zuckerman for VT: "Zuckerman, who ran on a hybrid Progressive/Democratic ticket, said his Republican opponent Randy Brock called shortly..."; "Republican Randy Brock has run radio and TV ads attacking Progressive/Democrat David Zuckerman’s character and employing a Washington-style fear strategy to gain votes." (Zuckerman's own campaign web site.) "Burlington Free Press editorial board recommends David Zuckerman for lieutenant governor of Vermont. Zuckerman’s status as a Progressive/Democrat who puts the “P” first in his affiliation..." (Burlington Free Press.)

"Vermont Progressives gain amid GOP victories". (Burlington Free Press): "Zuckerman expects to preside over a Vermont Senate that leans further to the left. Sen. Tim Ashe, D/P-Chittenden, is in line for the role of president pro tempore, and four other senators hold Progressive affiliations."; "Sen. Phil Baruth, who won re-election this year with a hybrid Democrat/Progressive label, said Ashe and Washington County Sen. Anthony Pollina had paved the way for the Progressive shift."

That's not me making up party affiliations. That's what the office holders call themselves. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks, Bill McKern

A tag has been placed on Category:People from Burke, Vermont requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello, BM6

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SportingFlyer and it's nice to meet you. :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’ve proposed an article that you started, 2019 Rutland mayoral election, for deletion because it meets one of the relevant criterion. The particular issue can be located in the notice, that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to prevent the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

But, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the raised issues. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means. If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SportingFlyer}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks! (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.) SportingFlyer T·C 07:50, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Official Color of the Vermont Progressive Party

[edit]

Hi BM6-

Could you please cite a specific source identifying the Vermont Progressive Party's official color as green. While it is used in charts and political graphics to differentiate them from the Republicans, I should disclose I volunteered with them in 2000, never once did we use the color green as a banner in any of the political organizing or literature in question. You can see today that red is the color used, a user has suggested Green on their Facebook, but that has not been used in an official capacity. Also see as far back as 2002 on the WaybackMachine that the banner used then was red as well. If you can find a source by the party identifying them contemporarily as green, I withhold my claim, but having them differentiated in political articles not written by them, really isn't a justification, even if their ideology aligns with that of the Green Party. Respectfully --Simtropolitan (talk) 20:39, 14 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I just want to amend this, I was able to find that site has a 2001-captured image of Anthony Pollina's 2000 gubernatorial election- the first such election for the party, and the signage he used. Perhaps you mean to say green was the color of a predecessor? --Simtropolitan (talk) 21:02, 14 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org. Thank you!

Template:starship flights/suborbital

[edit]

Your edit summary: "Stating the launch outcome only as "destroyed" does not convey enough information about the launch as a whole. The 4-tier Success-Partial-Failure has more range for detail. Next to the launch info section, it says that the respective vehicles were destroyed on landing, still allowing the outcome to state that only part of the entire event was a failure."

There was an extended discussion on the talk page, which generally reached the consensus that: "The companies simply don't make public what the test objectives are of any test. We have no reliable basis to be lumping an entire complex development test as even success or failure, let alone splitting hairs on whether it is a success, partial success, partial failure, or failure. Doing so is original research and/or WP:SYNTHESIS, neither of which are appropriate in Wikipedia articles."

So although the 4-tier Success-Partial-Failure has more detail, there are no reliable sources that list it as such, because it was a test flight. It should not be up to the editors. However, there are sources that say it was destroyed, so I think it's best to leave it as that. I will say that it is probably a good idea, after what you added, to say "Destroyed on landing" rather than just "Destroyed," to specify exactly where it was. If you want, you can add additional comments to Template talk:starship flights/suborbital#SN9 outcome. N828335 (talk) 16:29, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback for Draft New Article?

[edit]

Hi, I see you're an active editor and member of the Spaceflight Wikiproject. I’m working on a rough draft of a new article here [1] for my satellite communications company E-Space, which I hope to submit to the Articles for Creation queue because as an E-Space employee I have a COI and can’t publish it on Wikipedia myself. But since I can see that the queue is very long and I want to have the best possible chance of approval when it gets submitted there, I was wondering if you might be willing to have a look at the draft and point out anything that needs to be improved first?

Thanks very much for your time! Talex000 (talk) 22:28, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
