Tagging pages for speedy deletion

Hello, Fancy Refrigerator,

Please review WP:CSD thoroughly so you understand the criteria better and when they apply. You tagged a draft for CSD G13 days before it was eligible to be deleted and since you edited the page, it'll now be another 6 months before it is eligible for deletion again. Drafts are only eligible for G13 after six months (at least) since the draft was last edited by a human editor and User space drafts are only eligible if it has been 6 months since the last human edit and there is an AFC tag on the page. We have a category and also a bot list that keeps track of when drafts become G13 eligible and it's best to stick with these systems to determine when a draft can be tagged for deletion rather than going to go look for old drafts. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:02, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

My apologies, I will thoroughly read WP:CSD. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 01:34, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

Ernesto Erkoreka plaza moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Ernesto Erkoreka plaza, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 11:47, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

Removal of link on parser combinator page

Hi Fancy Refridgerator, you've removed the link i've added to the parser combinator wiki page. The link points to a github repository and the code is open source (see license). Therefore I'm struggling to understand as to why the link has been removed. And what's the difference with the other links in the external links section. 🤔 2A02:A46A:3707:1:A4C7:C373:44A0:E9CA (talk) 12:44, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) It's because you were misusing of Wikipedia as a web host. Tails Wx 01:48, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
  • Engaging audiences Museums and History, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a webhost where you can just drop your biography with a link to LinkedIn. The user page was deleted by Fastily, by the way, and in my opinion completely correctly. It is incumbent on you, as a user of this website, to have at least some awareness of what it is that we do, and what the rules are. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 01:49, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of Draft:FinSurge

Hi! Fancy Refrigerator

I want to write about my workplace. Also, I have disclosed that I'm a paid editor in my user page. Could you please give some guidance to publish Wikipedia page about my workplace. Is writing about a company itself is unambiguous advertisement or is there any way I can correct it?

Also, I can see about many companies in Wikipedia. Why can't I publish this? Could you also please tell which part makes this content unambiguous advertisement.

Olaf404 (talk) 09:56, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Draft:Keytos (cybersecurity)

Hello Fancy Refrigerator, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Draft:Keytos (cybersecurity), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:19, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

@Ivanvector. This is an obvious case of undisclosed paid editing. The user’s edits are all centered around this cybersecurity company, see edits 1141918808 and 1143215633. In the article Marcos Flegmann, the said user added a reference promotionally titled “Keytos: Your Trusted Identity Management Solution”. Other texts added by the user further suggest a conflict of interest. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 15:13, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
I see you've warned them already, that's the proper thing to do. However, the draft is not unambiguously promotional; paid editing is not by definition promotional, and pages created by editors receiving payment contrary to the terms of use is not currently a criterion for speedy deletion. If you would like to propose that it should be, please see WT:CSD. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 15:19, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
@Ivanvector. The draft was submitted by the user through AfC, which explicitly states in the instruction that one must disclose paid contributions under Wikimedia’s TOS. This here is an attempt by the editor to deceit AfC reviewers by submitting the draft without disclosure, despite the AfC instructions being very clear. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 15:34, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
I'm not disagreeing with you on that, but disregarding or ignoring the AfC instructions is not a criterion for speedy deletion. G11 is based on the content of the page, not the intent or motivation of its authors, and is for pages that are written as blatant advertisements. Pages that could theoretically be turned into encyclopedia articles with only minor changes are excluded (the policy says "would need to be fundamentally rewritten", emphasis in original). As for the editor, if you have evidence that they're continuing to edit for pay after being warned about the disclosure policy, report them to WP:ANI, you don't need to go through all four levels of the warning template if they're obviously just here for covert spam. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 16:00, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
@Ivanvector. If the content of the draft is only meant to publicize the company, does this not fall under G11? The user disclosed in a talk page message that the subject of the draft is his friend’s business, and it is likely that the friend paid the user for his contributions to Wikipedia. The page in its current state is filled with weasel words. The content of the draft makes me believe that the user is more than just a friend, but rather an employee of the company. Either way, the purpose of the page is certainly contradictory to the purpose of Wikipedia. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 16:23, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
In my opinion no, the bar is higher than that. If we automatically deleted any page that had promotional language about its subject, and/or was written from a conflict of interest, we'd be deleting most of the pages on Wikipedia. There is a gap between "an encyclopedia article which promotes its subject" and "literally an advertisement". The first is a page that provides favourable information about its subject, but could be improved to provide that information from a more neutral point of view without a complete rewrite. The second looks like a flyer from a lawn care company, or what gets stuffed in your door jamb by a politician running for office: it only provides information meant to convince the reader to purchase the entity's products or to generally raise its public profile, and any factual information provided is selected for promotional use and is only there to support the promotional intent. If the page could potentially be copyedited to reduce the promotional tone and make the content comply with the WP:NPOV policy without having to rewrite the article entirely, then G11 doesn't apply; it might merit deletion for other reasons, but the speedy criteria are specific on purpose, otherwise you need to make your case at MFD. My thinking is that if this company were notable and somebody not related to it was going to start a draft, this would be a decent start. If I was reviewing the submission I wouldn't promote, but it's not far off from other articles we have on small companies in this industry, for example Allegion or Egress Software, or McAfee even (I picked a few randomly from Category:Computer security software companies).
But, if you think I'm wrong, or I'm being too rigid with the speedy criteria, I think asking at WP:AN would be appropriate. Or maybe WT:CSD would be better than the drama board. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 17:02, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
@Ivanvector. I understand that G11 only applies in certain situations, but the user in question shows the pattern of being a single-purpose account. The user had made no mainspace edits unrelated to the cybersecurity company, and like I previously mentioned, the user made no disclosures prior to the submitting the draft. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 18:35, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

RE: Joseph Olaoye Jaiyeola (JOJ)

Hello Fancy, I was notified that you moved to Draft an article I recently Published; Joseph Olaoye Jaiyeola (JOJ) stating I may have Conflict of Interest and that it gives the Impression that I have undisclosed financial stake in Promoting a Topic.

Thanks for your concern, however Let me disclose with all sincerity that Joseph Olaoye Jaiyeola is a popular Nigerian Economist whose profile is in the Public domain. I maintain no family ties or relationship with him in anyway, and as such I do not enjoy any financial benefit whatsoever from writing this article about him.

Please those two issues highlighted about me writing the article does not apply and since it is so, does not warrant me disclosing it as a paid editing. He is a public figure who has contributed greatly to the Nigerian Economy including the annual Nigerian Economic Summit NES that I have attended couple of times. He is widely known and as not contracted me to write this.

Beyond this two issues, I would appreciate you move back to mainspace.

Thanks for your Concern and Regards. Parlonany (talk) 08:16, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

@Parlonany. Hello, and thank you for your response. Please note that all articles, especially biographies, must be written from a neutral point of view. The lead section of a biography should give basic biographical information and the reason why the person is notable, rather than a list of job and work-related experiences as the page currently reads. Also, the page should be supported by reliable and independent sources that show significant and in-depth coverage of the subject. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 13:23, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for your review. I will make edits where necessary. Parlonany (talk) 15:08, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi Fancy Refrigerator. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. signed, Rosguill talk 20:11, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

Regarding article Christoffer Vuolo Junros

Hi Fancyrefrigerator, I have removed the imdb part from the article, could you please take a look and approve the article, the other sources are reliable and I do believe that this article is valid for approval for a biography of an published author, Sincerely/ Max17an (talk) 06:46, 19 June 2023 (UTC)

@Max17an. Hi. For the page to meet notability guidelines, there must be significant and in-depth coverage. The page also needs more citations so that it’s verifiable. Currently, the page’s sections appear to be unsourced. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 07:35, 19 June 2023 (UTC)

Regarding Four Core Genotypes Mice

Thank you for the recommendations for revision. The article has been revised to follow the guidelines for an encyclopedic format, using a combination of the inverted pyramid and summary formats. Please take a look and let me know if it is suitable for publication! — Preceding unsigned comment added by JEA Editor (talkcontribs) 19:59, 19 June 2023 (UTC)

Regarding Article Helskate

Hi FancyRefrigerator, I wanted to request your guidance because you said that the references weren't in-depth enough but I just followed the template of other Articles of games on Wikipedia. The text is roughly the same length, content-wise the main points have been highlighted from reputable sources in the gaming industry. I also looked at an article about a game that is in a very similar situation to Helskate called Skate Story. The game has not yet been released but according to your reasoning to reject this Wikipedia article, the same should be applied to other gaming articles such as Skate Story. I would appreciate an explanation as to how it could be improved rather than simply "in-depth coverage required" because if you google Helskate the news section is filled with articles from reputable gaming news sources talking about the game. I appreciate the guidance as it is my first experience on Wikipedia from an editorial perspective. PhantomCoastGames (talk) 09:39, 20 June 2023 (UTC)

@PhantomCoastGames. Hi. To meet notability guidelines, there must be significant and in-depth coverage from multiple published sources. “In-depth” coverage means that the topic must be addressed in detail. Currently, coverage from IGN and Kotaku does not appear sufficient enough to establish notability. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 10:49, 20 June 2023 (UTC)

Draft of Brian Slocum

Hello, regarding your recent decline of the Slocum (law professor); where you stated "See WP:ACADEMIC."

Criterion #5 states: "The person has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon". He meets this criterion, as he is a Distinguished Professor at University of the Pacific. I am resubmitting on the basis he meets criterion #5, the RfC rejection reasons as stated above don't address the above issue so I can only assume this was not considered; given that there is no ambiguity that this subject is a distinguished professor of a major educational institution. BVGroup page draft

Hello Fancy Refrigerator! I see you have deleted my BVGroup page draft as it wasn't yet compliant. I totally understand this - it wasn't ready yet. I intended to return to rewrite the page before submitting for review, to make it completely neutral and not promotional. I read that I should click 'publish' to save the draft. I had taken parts about each brand from their website for speed, just to get the draft in place. I hadn't intended for anyone else to read it yet. Please can I regain access to the article, so I can continue the draft and edit it? I put a lot of time into the links and formatting etc. and don't want to lose everything. I would welcome your feedback once it is ready. Thanks NobleYeats (talk) 14:20, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

@NobleYeats. Hi. I’m not the person who deleted Draft:BVGroup, and I cannot restore deleted content as I’m not an admin. Please contact User:Bbb23, the admin who deleted the draft. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 16:50, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Help

Hi sir

I Drafted an article its in pending i want you to help me to improve it please Draft:Sheikh Asif Angiemcc2023 (talk) 17:18, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

@Angiemcc2023. Hi. Please ask for advice at WP:Teahouse. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 20:47, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

Hello, please help me to solve the problem I am facing

Hello, please help me to solve the problem that I am facing in my article that I created المهندس تركي (talk) 21:11, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

I noticed that you recently accepted the AFC draft for this article and moved it to mainspace. Just wondering if you reviewed the quality of sources and whether they verified the details in the article because:

  • Sanyal, Subhojit (2013). Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. p. 84. ISBN 978-93-81607-22-0. is a picture-book for kids published by Om Kidz
  • Vaibhav, Purandare (22 August 2022). Shivaji: India' Great Warrior King. p. 53. ISBN 9789391165505. is a popular history written by a journalist with no history training, which is inadequate for a subject that is both controversial and has received immense scholarly coverage.

And many of the details are not supported by the cited sources. Pinging @Deb: who had deleted a previous long-standing version of the article with similar sourcing and verifiability issues, for input on what would be the best way forward. Abecedare (talk) 02:59, 12 July 2023 (UTC)

It doesn't even have any categories! But I know FR wouldn't accept an article without due consideration. Maybe reconsider? Deb (talk) 07:34, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
@Abecedare. I am confident that there are reliable and in-depth sources in other languages. I've added an interlanguage link to a corresponding article in Marathi. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 13:24, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
The Marathi article, unsurprisingly is very poor too, sourced to a 17th c primary document written by one of the combatant's court poet and a "Diwali issue" of an unidentified magazine. I don't wish to press the point too much, since I realize that AFC reviewers are both overworked and cannot be subject experts, but I do wish that the inappropriateness of (at least) the Sanyal picture book and the fact the the 3 February 1661 date for the battle is contradicted by the cited source (Sardesai (1946), itself a dated and iffy source; see my detailed comments here). There are several other issues too, such as use of a fictitious Mughal flag; the dubious claim (unsupported by even the dubious sourcethat is cited) that "Shivaji himself attacked the enemy in the rear"; the hagiographical claim (again unsupported, and now tagged) that "Shivaji as the man of valour had own motto to not harm unarmed man and woman..." etc.
The TLDR is that a two sentence stub that complies with WP:RS and WP:V is much better than a lengthy properly-formatted article that misinforms the reader, as this one does. Abecedare (talk) 14:20, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
@Abecedare. Page is now re-draftified. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 15:21, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
Thank you. If you need input on or access to the sources, feel free to ping me. Thanks to recent talkpage discussions on related articles, I have grown and browsed through a collection. :) Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 15:36, 12 July 2023 (UTC)

Andre Nussenzweig page

Hi Fancy Refrigerator,

I'm contacting you regarding the rejection of the wiki page I was designing for Andre Nussenzweig. I'm trying to understand the reasons why it doesn't qualify for a Wikipedia article as I think we tried to use reliable, serious and independent sources supporting all the information included in that article. The same with the footnotes and citations/references. Could you please guide me a little bit improving it so that I can get it approved? I would greatly appreciate it. Any suggestion is very welcome. Thanks! Mecmh (talk) 15:57, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

@Mecmh. Hi. The draft is largely unsourced and lacks in-line citations. Please make sure to address these issues before resubmitting. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 16:48, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Patson Pereira

Hello, I recently published an article, a biography of a living person which you have moved in Drafts under AFC. Can you elaborate further with the issues of the article. All the information provided is true with reference links added. Kindly review the article again. Looking forward to your response. Filmymusafir (talk) 23:47, 30 July 2023 (UTC)

Women in legal research

Dear Fancy Refrigerator,

I have revised the article for Bettina Lange and hope it now meets the requirements (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Bettina_Lange). I am interested in making women in legal research more visible. Here is a similar accepted article by one of her male colleagues: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horst_Eidenm%C3%BCller.

I would appreciate any help you can give me. Heyitseliza (talk) 15:30, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi, please see Wikipedia’s notability guideline on musicians and review the criteria for musicians. Views on social media platforms are not enough to merit a Wikipedia article. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 15:26, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
just fyi this is crosswiki spam which has been deleted multiple times on enwiki and other projects, see de:Benutzer:Pentachlorphenol/XSoundb or [1][2]. Johannnes89 (talk) 12:20, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

New pages patrol newsletter

Hello Fancy Refrigerator,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Victims of Socialism

Hello Fancy Fridge,

You have rejected the article "Victims of Socialism" and referred me to guidlines "What Wikipedia is not". I read it, but I see no connection between the factual content of the Victims of Socialism and the guidlines. Could you be more specific on the problem you see with the article? It is simply a factually correct list of victims of socialism (both national and international), admittedly incomplete (e.g. excludes South America). 96.255.216.96 (talk) 13:44, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information; these topics already exists (e.g. Political repression in the Soviet Union, Cultural Revolution, Cambodian genocide), and it would be redundant to make a list of “victims of socialism.” Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 16:37, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

There is a backlog of over 3300 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:24, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

All-woman Israeli tank crew fight (2023)

Hello Fancy Refrigerator! Thanks for your help with the All-woman Israeli tank crew fight (2023) article! Regarding the POV template could you please clarify which parts do you believe we can further improve so that we can fix it? Thank you again for your help. With regards, Oleg Y. (talk) 14:13, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

@Oleg Yunakov. Hi. Articles should be written objectively, so wordings like “Thanks to their actions..” and “saved the kibbutz” are not appropriate. Please also make sure that the article meets Wikipedia’s notability guidelines on events. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 14:32, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, both points are clearly from the sources which were initially provided and one of them was given as a quote with attribution. With regards, Oleg Y. (talk) 23:54, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello from Wikipedia in Spanish, how are you? I want to ask you if you can merge merge these two articles since they deal with the same topic of the recent invasion. --190.219.223.224 (talk) 21:30, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
