Speedy deletion nomination of Drag Strip (Transformers)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Drag Strip (Transformers), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. TTN (talk) 13:51, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Crocodilia
[edit]Hi, I see you reverted a change that one of my colleagues made during our rewriting of Crocodilia which we hope may take it FA-wards at some stage. The presence of a 5-year-old decision, with 'fossil' links from another article, can't be an absolute bar to updating an article, though clearly the old thought processes may be worth revisiting. The section as currently written is not well cited, so whatever happens some kind of change appears necessary. Chiswick Chap (talk) 15:24, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for letting me know. If the decision turns out to remove the section again, the incoming link from crocodile should also be removed. It's not right to keep links leading to nowhere in Wikipedia article hatnotes. JIP | Talk 15:27, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Finnish search help requested
[edit]Hello, could you check in at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Raimo Kilpiö trophy? Finnish question (again)
[edit]Thanks for answering my recent question on the help desk - Wikipedia really does know everything ;) I had one more question that I hoped you might be able to help me with - sorry I don't mean to bug you! How would you say just "Where is it?" in the same context (again 'it' refers to an unspecified inanimate object). Thanks! Have a great day! 160.39.255.138 (talk) 02:18, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Question regarding who, if anyone may declare war according to the Finnish constitution
[edit]Hi, JIP. Motivated by you question regarding a parliament of the USA, I looked at Declaration_of_war and decided it lacked something. I am reading through constitution by constitution to find out where it is legal, and adding this. I see no explicit mention of this here http://www.finlex.fi/en/laki/kaannokset/1999/en19990731.pdf I thought it would be better to ask you directly, instead of in helpdesk. Star Lord - 星王 (talk) 12:52, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, and incidentally, I could have added quite a bit more regarding the political differences between different countries from my now very old university textbooks in international politics, but tried to restrain myself :) Star Lord - 星王 (talk) 12:55, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- I asked about this on the Finnish Wikipedia, and the reply was: According to article 93 of the Constitution, the President may declare war, or declare peace, with permission from the Parliament. JIP | Talk 18:38, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you! Star Lord - 星王 (talk) 21:47, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- It is good that you got expert reply. I would not have been able to decipher that from reading the English translation of article 93. I took a very short course in civil law at University years back, but Swedish law can be hard to interpret sometimes, so I asked a Swedish lawyer friend if he could confirm my interpretation of the Swedish constitution. He said the question was very interesting, and that he could not refute my interpretation off hand. If he ever gets back to me with info that changes my interpretation, I will promptly follow his lead here. Star Lord - 星王 (talk) 22:18, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
On the declaration of war in Sweden.
[edit]- You are clearly right. I have changed my text. I know what I misread earlier, and why. Thank you very much for your help. I am frankly surprised that my lawyer friend did not point it out first. Star Lord - 星王 (talk) 09:44, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
- I was clearly wrong. I think that a strong background reason for my mis-reading it was a very strong case of wishful thinking, me being a pacifist.

Parenthetical comments
[edit]Our articles are not supposed to have editorial comments stuck into them. Reverting this back in was completely inappropriate. Why did you do it? Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 12:42, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Because of the previous edit, which had a rather condescending and patronising edit summary, and inserted a sarcastic tag "too short" at the top. That made me revert the edit, not noticing I had brought the parenthetical comment back. I've removed it again. JIP | Talk 12:51, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. I think you've misunderstood {{tooshort}}: it refers to the introduction being too short relative to the article as a whole, which applies in this case regardless of whether the article body is overly long. That tag should also be restored until the lead is an adequate summary of the article. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 13:07, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Suzanne Tamim album "Saken Alby"
[edit]I noticed that you had deleted this article, which was about Suzanne's last public album. I submit that it is notable and worthy of inclusion, especially if the albums I've seen in Wikipedia are all judged notable. Suzanne was a famous singer in the Arab world, and her albums were quite popular. Saken Alby set sales records, even though it was basically an EP, and remains listened-to. It has a spot in Wikipedia. Would like your feedback... :) Cesium 133 (talk) 23:06, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- I see it had been tagged as not asserting any notability, and when I viewed the deleted article, I saw that it was basically just a listing of tracks without any further information, or any sources. You are welcome to create a new article about it. JIP | Talk 05:19, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
Moving articles
[edit]I noticed that you formally proposed a move for Eira Hospital (Finland), but could have just moved it, since there's nothing at Eira Hospital and indeed no other "Eira Hospital" article. Since WP:Requested moves gets backed up, I'm just wondering, why didn't you just move it yourself? I ask because I'm wondering if the answer has something to do with the ecology of WP. Thanks. ENeville (talk) 17:55, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- I just thought I'd take it up for discussion just in case, because I didn't think it was completely obvious it should be moved. JIP | Talk 18:02, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Article on D/Generation
[edit]hi Several friends informed me that when searching for my name Jean-Paul Derrida in Google, the first result found is your article on Wikipedia about D Generation. I am a Cardiologist in Paris .Very few people in the world are called Derrida and I am the only one with this first name. My name "Jean-Paul Derrida" has been usurped for a commercial game and I consider being a victim of prejudice. I have contacted Robert Cook the developer of this game. In the meantime, can I please ask you to remove my name from your article ?
Thank you in advance — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jpderrida (talk • contribs) 20:05, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, no. Even if your name really is Jean-Paul Derrida, the fact is that the name is really in use in D/Generation and I see no point why the article can't mention that. JIP | Talk 03:10, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

D/Generation Protection
[edit]Hi, I saw that you have recently fully protected the article for a month and I'm a bit concerned about the protection. The article hasn't been vandalized by auto-confirmed accounts and full protection for a month for vandalism seems to be a bit excessive. I might even argue that semi-protection would be too much, given that the last 50 edits span as far back as 2008. Would you consider removing the protection, or at least dropping it to a lower level? Thanks, Mike V • Talk 18:49, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- I just saw that it was repeatedly being changed to remove Jean-Paul Derrida's name, which I saw no reason for. Where I was first content just to revert the edits, later I decided it would be better to protect it. But I have to agree you, one month of full protection is a bit excessive, especially as it hasn't been vandalised by autoconfirmed users. I have dropped the protection level to one week of semi-protection. JIP | Talk 02:50, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
