Speaking about Ancient Greece.You can find such a quote on the Neoptolemus page: Neoptolemus was the father of Molossus and ancestor of Olympias, the mother of Alexander the Great.Neoptolemus is just a myth,and he can't be an ancestor of a historical character.Maybe the statetment should be something like this:Neoptolemus was the father of Molossus and ,according to the myth, an ancestor of Olympias, the mother of Alexander the Great?

About the Coptic Project[edit]

For instance, Ethiopian and Eritrean Orthodox are not Copts. Hi, Luis. I got your new message, thank you. Yes, I agree that the question of what language was spoken at Troy in the 13th century BC is highly controversial, because of insufficient evidence. Personally, however, I would doubt very much that Greek was the language spoken at Troy at that time. I would envision four different hypotheses, all of which are deserving of consideration: (1) an Indo-European language of the Anatolian group, possibly akin to Lydian; (2) an Indo-European language of some different group (other than Greek), such as Phrygian or, better yet, Daco-Mysian; (3) a non-Indo-European language of the Tyrrhenian group, related to Lemnian (attested on the nearby island of Lemnos) and perhaps Etruscan; (4) a non-Indo-European language of some other group (Aegean? Pelasgian?). Of these, hypothesis (3) may be correct, but perhaps with reference to a period before the 13th century. It is possible that, by the 13th century, the language spoken was a different one, perhaps consistent with hypothesis (2) (see Caucones). As for hypothesis (1), it is usually assumed that there were Anatolian languages spoken in the northwestern corner of Anatolia (see Lutescan language), but the evidence is inconclusive. For the language of the Mysians, for example, opposing claims are made, claiming it was EITHER akin to Lydian and Carian, hence hypothesis (1), OR to Paionian, hence hypothesis (2). Hi Luis. I got your message. Thanks for all the compliments and good wishes. The same to you. The Wikipedia is a good starting point to explore all those possible connections. But much of it is highly speculative, so you need to take everything with a huge grain of salt. The objective evidence is often so scanty that it is virtually impossible to come to any solid conclusions about anything, and, when you think you finally figured it out, along comes another tiny piece of evidence that pushes you in the opposite direction. So you need to keep an open mind at all times. There were obviously quite a few language families and subfamilies present in the Balkans and Anatolia in the 2nd millennium BC, some Indo-European, some not, with some of the latter possibly related among themselves, some not.

The Etruscan conenction has a very old history. Since ancient times, there have been two schools of thought regarding the origin of the Etruscans, one that they came from Lydia or thereabouts (but that is not necessarily to say that they were Lydians!), and one that they were autochthonous. In any case, the similarities with Lemnian are striking, and the parallels with Eteocypriot are also very interesting (see Etruscan_language#Related_languages and follow the links). The pre-Hittite nation in Hatusa you referred to spoke Hattic, a non-Indo-European language possibly belonging to an earlier stratum and probably unrelated to the Tyrrhenian or Aegean languages. For Hattic, a connection with the Northwest Caucasian languages has been proposed.

I wouldn't call the differences between Mycenean and Classical Greek drastic, especially if you view Mycenean within the context of ALL the Greek dialects. One of the problems with Mycenean is that it is very hard to retrieve the exact phonetic values especially of the consonant phonemes. I don't know what the Mycenean name for Troy might have been, but certainly BOTH the Troia name AND the Ilion/Ilios names are very ancient. As for Miletus, the phonetics of the Greek name match Milawata rather than Millawanda. Finally, I personally don't buy the Achaeans-Ahhiyawa connection on the phonetic level. I believe the phonetics of the two names simply do not allow such a connection. They may well have been the same people, but I don't believe the two names (Achaeans and Ahhiyawa) can be the same. Dear Luis, how are you? These articles are potentially expandable and improvable. Unfortunately there are actually only three editors, you, Soso and me, who are seriously interested in Georgia. That’s why most Georgia-related articles are underdeveloped. We need more knowledgably people to be involved, not a bunch of biased "encyclopedists" who have remote knowledge of Georgia and its people.

I’ve read somewhere that one of the Colchian tribes took part in the defense of Troy against the Greek besiegers. I don’t remember more details, unfortunately.

Btw, have your read David Braund’s Georgia in Antiquity: A History of Colchis and Transcaucasian Iberia 550 BC-AD 562? Looks interesting, doesn’t it? I’m currently working on the August Uprising in Georgia article, but I have very limited time. Lang provides valuable info on that tragic event and I’ll add it to the article. Thanks to you, Lang’s book has already become my best friend.:) I wish I had enough time to transform all the info from this wonderful work into the Wikipedia articles. Georgia (country)-hist-stub[edit]

Hi - it has come to our notice that you have recently created a new stub type. As it clearly states at WP:STUB, at the top of most stub categories, on the template page for new Wikiprojects and in many other places on Wikipedia, new stub types should be proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies, and whether better use could be made of a WikiProject-specific talk page template.

In the case of your new stub type, it is already covered by existing stub types (most specifically {{Georgia-stub}} and {{Georgia-bio-stub}}, it is not named according to stub naming guidelines, and it does not reach the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Only five pages used it, two of which are not stubs, two of which are already covered by {{Georgia-bio-stub}} (since they were about people, not historical events), and one of which was a user talk page, not an article! What's more, Georgia-stub has only 100 articles in it, not enough to currently require splitting, and both the new template and category are incorrectly named according to stub naming guidelines. Abkhazian 1917 demographics reference[edit]

Hi - I've checked the reference you've provided for the 1917 statistics (those that claim there were 38,000 Abkhaz). The second reference ([2]) is to the graph which shows there were no less than 50,000 of them at that time. Could you clarify it, please. Btw this graph gives the same numbers of Georgians and Abkhaz (~25,000 and ~60,000) in 1897 as the B&E does (quite naturally imho - if you believe in soviet censi why don't you believe in Russian one).

The first reference is to a book drafted at the Parliament of Georgia based on the recommendations of the parliamentary ad hoc Commission on the Problems of Abkhazia ([3]) by Vakhtang Kholbaia written 3 years after the war. Good morning. I didn't quite understood you. The total population of Abkhazia during each census is written under the graph - 106 th. in case of 1897. So there were 60+25+15 (hard to say more exactly from the graph). Clearly they've also counted Mingrelians and Samyrzakanians with Georgians.

You always ask me to provide English-language ref not from one of the conflicting sides, then why did you make a ref to Russian-language Georgian book? I'm sorry to hear that you're uploading copyrighted images again. A quick review of other recent uploads show that you've begun uploading images from the web again claiming they reside in your collection or were taken by you. I really thought we had this sorted out last year when you took a few month sabbatical. I have blocked your account indefinitely to prevent any further harm for the time being while your images are reviewed. If you can agree never to upload another image, I would consider unblocking your account. There are several problems with the images you are uploading:

You have placed OTRS Confirmation tags on several of them yourself claiming permission has been lodged with Wikimedia. In one case, the ticket number was completely bogus (Image:Pages dosh-14(0)-1.jpg) and in all the others, the ticket did not specify the permission you claimed even after more than eight attempts to correspond with you. Only members of the OTRS team should place the confirmation tags.
Many of the images you uploaded are from TrekEarth; quite of few of these you claim as being in your "collection". More than one of the photographers from TrekEarth has contacted OTRS asking for the photographs to be removed due to copyright infringement (you might remember this is how I originally became involved in the situation). Other photographers that were contacted have never heard of you and do not recall ever having transferred the copyright on their photos. Examples of these would be Image:Svanetiabeauty.jpg or Image:Pig guarding ananuri.jpg
Despite these and other problematic licensing concerns, you have yet to provide proof in a single instance that you own the copyright or have been given permission to use any of these photos. In fact, in cases where we have been able to locate the copyright holder, we have found exactly the opposite - copyright holders are completely unaware of their photos being used on Wikipedia and have not their permission or transferred their copyright. A good example would be Image:Mestiya 2.jpg originally posted on http://www.caucasus-pictures.blogspot.com but claimed as your own from July 12, 2006 until you were caught on December 29, 2006 - after this, you did add the source, but still had no permission to use the picture, nor claim copyright on it.

(i) Re: Albanians article, I will keep an eye on it, however, just like you I am working on my Ph.D. thesis and I do not have time to regularly monitor articles. I will do my best though.

(ii) The word "Shqiptarë" is believed (widely accepted amongst Albanians) to derive from the word "Shqiponjë" (in spoken Albanian "Shqipe" or "Shqipja") that means eagle in Albanian. You see, the Albanian language was unified only during the 1970s and the spoken Albanians which most of people in Kosovo use is slighly different to the written (unified) language. So, in Kosovo often you call a fellow Albanian as "Shqipe" which means an "eagle", however the actual word in the dictionary is "Shqiponjë". Hence, Shqipëria (the Albanian name for Albania) is generally understood to mean the land of eagles and moreover the black eagle is found in the Albanian flag.

You are correct, the image OrphanBot notified you about was not uploaded after April 13, however, since April 13 you have made four changes to the licensing of photos [6]. You have been warned more times that I can recall about violating Wikipedia's copyright policies and yet you continue to blatantly do so. On March 21st a community ban against your account was supported due to the seriousness of your violations.

You are correct in that you have not broken the agreement not to upload any more images and I apologize for misreading the most recent log. Unfortunately, by continuing to improperly change the licensing status of photos, you are continuing the same problem which lead the community to the ban decision. No this is completely unfair. You have made a statement where you abided me not to upload and i did so. You did not say anything about licensing. The images which you mntions i did upload but i attached proper licensing which is accurate. Those images which you took liberty to remove, are from the Georgian Government Photo Agency and belong to the Georgian State. I took the responsibility to attach the proper labelling after the incident when you blocked me for the first time, in order to avoid any further problems. But you have unfairly blocked me again, without any discussion about this issue or suggestion because i would follow any suggestion you would make and not even attach anything to any image. But you did not do so, you blocked me again which is completely unfair and definitely an abuse of admin powers. Which is very sad and pitiful. I appealed to other admins and hope they will correct this injustice. I also made promise which i kept and did not upload anything. I Inly attached proper licencing templates and authorizations from the owners of the images. You asked me not to upload, and i did so and never uploaded after. But now you found a new reason of which i was not aware of. I would have greed with you and follow your suggestions but you have used the maximum means and blocked me indefinately.
