A lengthy welcome[edit]

Hi Los Perros pueden Cocinar. Welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you don't mind if I share some of my thoughts on starting out as a new editor on Wikipedia: If I could get editors in your situation to follow just one piece of advice, it would be this: Learn Wikipedia by working only on non-contentious topics until you have a feel for the normal editing process and the policies that usually come up when editing casually. You'll find editing to be fun, easy, and rewarding. The rare disputes are resolved quickly and easily.

Working on biographical information about living persons is far more difficult. Wikipedia's Biographies of living persons policy requires strict adherence to multiple content policies, and applies to all information about living persons including talk pages.

If you have a relationship with the topics you want to edit, then you will need to review Wikipedia's Conflict of interest policy, which may require you to disclose your relationship and restrict your editing depending upon how you are affiliated with the subject matter. Regardless, editing in a manner that promotes an entity or viewpoint over others can appear to be detrimental to the purpose of Wikipedia and the neutrality required in articles.

Some topic areas within Wikipedia have special editing restrictions that apply to all editors. It's best to avoid these topics until you are extremely familiar with all relevant policies and guidelines.

If you work from reliable, independent sources, you shouldn't go far wrong. WP:RSP and WP:RSN are helpful in determining if a source is reliable.

I hope you find some useful information in all this, and welcome again. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 20:47, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello to you too! Thanks for the advice, I didn't know that Wikipedia had a tool to check if a source is reliable or not. I understand that Wikipedia has to be kept neutral and I believe that that's a very important feature that Wikipedia has. But I was also wondering, have I miss-edited an article? Because the last edit I did was an update on PragerU's view and subscribe count. Have I miss-edited an article/biography of a living person? And if so, which one? So I can learn from my mistakes. Thank you for your message. --Los Perros pueden Cocinar (talk) 22:01, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your edit at PragerU, which has editing restrictions on it. Thought you might want to know. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 02:07, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

But I didn't do anything wrong? --Los Perros pueden Cocinar (talk) 10:30, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not that I noticed. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 16:11, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

October 2020[edit]

Hello, I'm Gioguch. I noticed that you recently replaced the content on Categories:Defunct standing committees of the Riksdag with "deleted this page." Removing all text from a page won't delete a page, it just leaves a blank page which can easily be restored from the page history. Next time, please use {{db-blank}} instead. Thank you. --Gioguch (talk) 20:06, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, delete it. I made it by mistake--Los Perros pueden Cocinar (talk) 20:09, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Greeks for the Fatherland[edit]

Kasidiaris only left Golden Dawn because of his impending conviction as one of it's leading members. He even founded another party called National Dawn in February 2014 when criminal accusations had just started following the murder of Pavlos Fyssas in September 2013 when he was arrested with the rest of his party. Golden Dawn's trial has just ended a few days ago so his Greeks for the Fatherland party isn't even going to compete with Golden Dawn in the next elections. As for his views, they're essentially the same, although they are in Greek. He isn't shy about them either, since he openly expressed them from the same Youtube channel that he used to launch his party. He never talked about changing his views. He only wanted to be a better leader than his predecessor, Nikolaos Michaloliakos, who is widely blamed for Golden Dawn's defeat in the latest elections. Kasidiaris was with Golden Dawn as a leading member and representative in parliament for all the years that mattered, which is the 2010's when the party was winning seats in town municipalities and the Hellenic Parliament rather than a fringe party of less than 1% just like other neo-Nazi parties in Europe. He was even rumoured to be the party's deputy leader just because of his popularity, while the actual second-in-command to Michaloliakos was Christos Pappas, who is just five years younger than Michaloliakos but eighteen years older from Kasidiaris. He recently admitted that he started his political career by publishing the manuscripts of Stylianos Pattakos, a high-ranking of Greece's far-right junta that ruled from 1967 to 1974. He refused to erase his swastika tatoo and the only members of his party came from Golden Dawn while he accuses the right-wing to far-right Greek Solution party of being a part of the establishment. He hasn't renounced any of his past views and unlike all current parties in the Hellenic Parliament, he rejects COVID-19 protection measures. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.103.6.208 (talk) 21:43, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tove Lo[edit]

Thanks for thanking me for starting the page. But mine was a modest start, a very very modest for the page when she had just one or two hits. I heard them and I liked them. So I rushed creating the page. I was terrified though some colleague would come swiftly and suggest deleting it for lack of notability, lack of references etc. But it stayed strangely enough and now look at the page! Yes I was so excited for an unknown Swedish singer, but never expected it would blossom into this. So impressive. I am though still with the small guy as always. I always have that fear they will delete a page I really cared for... So despite all my edits, I still fear such a treatment. But when a page gets real big, you won't see me edit in a page like Tove Lo anymore. She is so big now, my effort is better used somewhere else. At the time I was the one. The only one practically. Now there are hundreds of volunteers... but not me. Still thanks anyway. You made my day and made me reminisce the days when my service was needed. This is my two cents for fellow editors. That they err to the side of inclusiveness. Someone somewhere needs our input. Perhaps the artist himself or herself in his/her greatest time of need for being acknowledged. When they get real big eventually, who needs an editor like me anyway. werldwayd (talk) 00:43, 29 October 2020 (UTC) werldwayd (talk) 00:47, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your reply made me smile during the entire time I was reading your comment @Werldwayd:, Lo's music means a lot to me and I certainly dose to you too! I related completely when you talked about getting a page deleted. I had the same fear after my first page, that someone would suggest it getting deleted because of some strange reason, but no, it stayed! My very first article/draft/sandbox wasn't so lucky though... when I received the "welcome to the TeaHouse" notification, my day would be completely ruined. You were the one to start Lo's page and you built the foundation for that article, now people are building the rest, and look at it now! It's now a Wikipedia:Good article! Thank you for creating the article when you did, and for your work on this wonderful piece of art! Thank you so much! Thanks again. When you have a problem with editing or a page you proposed is being nominated for deletion, I would love to help if possible. Drop a line on my talk page. You have to restore at least a minimum user page as well now deleted. Nothing elaborate mind you. Just what areas you love editing, what are your priorities editing and how they can contact you. It shouln't be a red link. Just 3-4 lines will do. Meanwhile all the best. It was a pleasure. werldwayd (talk) 07:44, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Will do! I'll let you know if I need help! Thanks for the proposal, and thanks for the page! --Los Perros pueden Cocinar (talk) 14:01, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Greeks for the Fatherland (again)[edit]

Hello, Αθλητικά is obviously a supporter of this political party and seeks to whitewash / soften the image of this extremist political party. In my opinion, it is a great waste of time to just revert his edits without take it to administrators, because he will continue to harm the article indefinitely. On the Greek Wikipedia, he does not have the courage to do so otherwise he would be immediately blocked, he perfectly knows that the English Wikipedia is very little controlled (in comparison with other interwiki languages) and that he can edit without risks.

It is not the first time that a far-right (or even neo-fascist) user tries to whitewash extremist parties, there are numerous other examples : on Italian Casapound with 3 sockpuppets - Casaponda2, Casapounda1, Realcasapa -, on Chilean Republican Party with 2 autoconfirmed users and few IPs. Αθλητικά has an extended confirmed user status (more than 500 edits and logged in for more than 3 months) so he's not controlled by rollbackers / administrators contrary to IP users or new users logged in for only 2 or 3 days.

That's why I suggest you to report him here as Mélencron did with Casaponda2 for persistent POV-pushing and disruptive editings in June 2018 and use the same arguments than Mélencron (except that contrary to Casaponda2 Αθλητικά also edits on thematics not linked to politics, especially Greek football, while Casaponda2's sole edits consist on blanking ideology and position infoboxes' parameters). You also can left an only warning notice on Αθλητικά's talk page like this before report him to administrators. You can also report him here if the first one not succeeded. But in any case, you will no doubt need to request very high level page protection (requests here) on this article because Αθλητικά isn't an IP or a new user but an extended confirmed user (even if Αθλητικά get an indefinitely block log, he can use new sockpuppets to harm article).

If you don't do anything, he will continue to break all Wikipedia policies / rules (the same thing would have happened if other users on the other far-right parties' pages had let it go without saying anything).

PS : Casaponda2 also had aggressive and threatening rhetoric similar to that of Αθλητικά in face of his detractors at that time (Casaponda2 was talking about possible lawsuits), but his edits comments were later removed/hidden for calumny. --Martopa (talk) 16:32, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the message. I am not into Greek politics, but Αθλητικά seems to be, and he doesn't seem to be neutral when it comes to Greeks for the Fatherland. And I agree with you that Αθλητικά might be a supporter of that party. But I don't know about the claims that he is making about media and it is controlled by the government to make Greeks for the Fatherland look bad, and that the Greek gov. sends fake news to foreign media in order to silence the truth. Now I'm fairly certain that he's using a conspiracy theory to prove his point when it comes to such matters. And he uses the argument that the Greek Wikipedia is mostly controlled by "only activists, anarchists, communists, homosexuals and other far - leftists (without objectivity) are correspondingly spelled and administered". I don't know if that is true or not since 1) he doesn't have any source, and 2) it sounds a lot like a conspiracy theory. I don't really have any proof to say otherwise about his claimes since I'm not involved in the Greek Wikipedia page, and I don't speak Greek. And I don't believe that The Daily Stormer would be a credible source (if he used it of course). Still, according to Reporters Without Borders Greece is ranked 70th when it comes to press freedom, and some of the factors having to do with such a low score are to do with Prime Minister Mitsotakis' government. I've been following Greeks for the Fatherland for close to a year now, and the same rhetoric is still up. Αθλητικά doesn't want to talk, he or she communicates only through the edits comments, he/she has only come to the talk page twice to argue his case when it is he/she that holds that point of view.
Despite me, heaving liked the talk page several times in the 'history' section he/she hasn't responded so far. I believe that it is unacceptable behavior from a Wikipedian and must be resolved. --Los Perros pueden Cocinar (talk) 18:07, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I just reported him/her to the administrators. His/Her behaviour is still unacceptable and he/she will never stop. Casaponda2 at the time also use a conspiracy rhetoric like this Greek user (about Western liberal media that aren't fair and misrepresent Italian Casapound and also that other made bullshits). I have this page in my watchlist for few months and I have been patient until now. --Martopa (talk) 11:23, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I believe that Αθλητικά also threatened me by telling me that what I'm going is going to have consequences, it's all in the 'view history' tab that you've probably seen. Thanks for you help.--Los Perros pueden Cocinar (talk) 17:19, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
