Hello, Paintspot. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, PTSD: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

NCSP

[edit]

You appear to be disambiguating pages that do need their names changed. They were by and large perfectly as they were, in line with MOS. Rugby league is not signed up to the rule that you are applying, and in most cases it appears that you are not applying it correctly anyway.Fleets (talk) 20:03, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed that too, in the case of the Pedro Fernández footballers. WP:NCSP states birth year or nationality is fine, therefore no need to change. R96Skinner (talk) 21:04, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Shoot shoot shoot so sorry. Totally didn't know that it didn't apply to rugby league, under the assumption that it applied to all of them. I'll stop. Paintspot Infez (talk) 23:29, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Orangemike: - Sorry about that. Wasn't trying to be disruptive or "test anything out" on a public page; just thought it would be helpful, at the top of the category page, to link to the presumed main page of the category (Tailor) with the Template:Cat main template. Paintspot Infez (talk) 13:04, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Aha! I need to read the documentation for that template more closely. I misread the results. I will revert. --Orange Mike | Talk 02:26, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) I have no interest in that category whatsoever, but adding {{Cat main}} is certainly something that is done. Whether or not it warrants only a single main cat, based on the 1-sentence lead, is another matter, and should probably(?) be the focus of the discussion instead of a warning template.   ~ Tom.Reding (talkdgaf)  13:53, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about The Big Call (film)

[edit]

Hello, Paintspot,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether The Big Call (film) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Big Call (film) .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Unblock? Not a web host.

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Paintspot (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Caught by a colocation web host block but this host or IP is not a web host. Heck, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A WEB HOST IS. This is the first time I've ever even had this issue, and nothing changed with my actual IP address at all, to my knowledge. I've been a very active and helpful editor for a while, and I've had the privilege of page mover for a while as well, and I'm legitimately unsure how this issue arose. I sincerely hope I can be unbanned from editing. Paintspot Infez (talk) 20:02, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You'll need to tell us the IP address to allow us to assess the block. You can find it via a tool like http://www.WhatIsMyIP.org. If you don't want to publish it here, you can let us know privately via WP:UTRS. Huon (talk) 20:34, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Unblock auto? Pretty sure I'm the only one using my IP address.

Block message:

The system says "Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Spencerhughes". The reason given for Spencerhughes's block is: "Vandalism-only account"." In the past few hours (e.g. this issue must have happened pretty recently), whenever I try to edit, it says “Your IP address has been blocked automatically, because it was used by a blocked user.” I have no idea what this is about - I am in no way connected to this random Spencerhughes guy (upon further inspection, it seems like we've used the same WiFi network, however). But I make 99% of my edits on my laptop (the one I'm currently using) and only use this account. My IP address of the laptop that I mainly edit on (this one) is 172.68.65.188. On this account, computer, IP address, or website, I’ve never done anything wrong or block-worthy. A few weeks ago, it said I was caught by a colocation web host block but this host or IP is not a web host.

Accept reason: Note that you aren't banned. What looks to have happened here is another person (most likely, a student in your school, but I'm just guessing) was blocked for vandalism. To prevent them just switching to a new account, there's a temporary block on all editing from that internet address and you were caught up in this. I've lifted your block (but again, it was never targeted at you, just at the vandal) and you should be able to edit again. If you are indeed a student and using the school internet (or if there's another similar situation), you should unfortunately expect to see this happen from time to time, unless the school gets a handle on the vandals. Invitation to WikiProject Portals

[edit]

Hi,

I noticed your interest in portals. Here is what has been going on behind-the-scenes with them...

Currently, there are about 1500 portals, comprised of 150,000 pages in portal space, the rest beyond the 1500 being subpages. Most of those subpages contain an excerpt, copied and pasted from some article. Such excerpts never change, and they go stale over time (no longer matching the original source material).

The Portal WikiProject was rebooted on April 17th, and has grown to 68 members. We've been busy redesigning the portal model so that portals will not need all those subpages.

The design concept called "selective transclusion", which is used for migrating excerpts (moving them to the base page), does so by displaying part of an article the same as a template. An added benefit of this is that it also keeps them fresh, by always showing the current version of the content that is transcluded.

We are also working on ways to make excerpted content, and listed entries, dynamic, so that the material or links shown automatically change over time without the intervention of an editor. Selected articles, could be set up to change daily, for example, to present a different article each day. This can even be made to show a different article every time a user visits the page. Currently, we can do this from a set list. We're trying to make it so that the list is updated automatically from an external source that is regularly maintained.

Other automated solutions are being sought or developed for each section type of portals. To automatically update and archive news, did you know entries, and so on.

Once we get a fully automated design worked out, it will be applied to all the portals that do not have dedicated maintainers. This will reduce the amount of maintenance they need. A single editor will then be able to watch over far more portals than before, ideally, with each portal taking up only a single page in portal space.

The Portal WikiProject is dedicated to updating, upgrading, and maintaining the entire portal system and every portal in it.

Come check us out, and if you like what you see, feel free to join.    — The Transhumanist   05:35, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Paintspot. I would ask you to reconsider your recent action, changing the title of this article. There should have been some discussion on the subject. I believe that the better title would include the word "Great", since that seems to be part of the actual name. And, some economy can be achieved through the title "Great Seal of the State of Georgia" since it does not require the parenthetical phrase you employed. Gulbenk (talk) 14:14, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, are you saying I changed the name of the article? I didn't (User:Trilobite did in 2005) - I just added the hatnote (after-the-fact) that helps direct people to the correct page if they were looking for that of the country.
Sorry for reading that incorrectly. Would you consider opening up a discussion to change the name to "Great Seal of the State of Georgia", for the reasons previously stated? Name changes are, obviously, not my strongest talent. Gulbenk (talk) 14:58, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much

[edit]

The RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.

By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.

Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.

If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here, for your convenience.

Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   00:10, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

P.S.: if you reply to this message, please {{ping}} me. Thank you. -TT

Hi! You added a load of completely unsourced content to that page. I'm at a loss to understand why anyone would do that, it seems so pointless. Anyway, I've again redirected the page. Please feel free to write an article there if you want to, but please don't add any unsourced stuff to it – the material has already been challenged, and as you know the WP:BURDEN is on the person adding content to also add suitable sources. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:56, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not trying to be rude, but to my knowledge, all I added (to the stuff that was already there before it was redirected) was voice actors (like on other episodes' pages) and minor description. Or are you referring to the content of the stuff that was written there before, that I just reverted it back to? Paintspot Infez (talk) 00:21, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Anchorage question

[edit]

At the RM discussion at Talk:Anchorage, Alaska, you asked: " The current name is consistent with the style that's used for almost every single U.S. city in just about every external style guide. If this move occurs, where would the line be drawn for a long series of moves similar to these?". The discussion was closed before I got a chance to respond; I hope you don't mind that I respond here.

Where we would draw the line is in exactly the same place we draw it for all other article titles, including for articles about cities outside of the US. That is, if the city's name is unique, or the city is determined to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for that name, then we use the name as the title for the article about the city, otherwise we disambiguate using the comma convention.

It really would be that simple and straightforward; same as for any other article. The problem with the US city convention, and why these RM proposals keep getting raised, is precisely because it's different from how we title all our other articles.

Does that answer your question to your satisfaction? --В²C 16:43, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
