Disambiguation link notification for September 1[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Watership Down (film), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Bennett. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

September 2016[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (film) does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Geraldo Perez (talk) 14:57, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Fame (1980 film), without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. Geraldo Perez (talk) 15:37, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Reordering" cast lists[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been undone.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges.

Your only edits seem to be random reordering of cast lists without given any explanation or attempts at justification. Your edit frequency indicates very little consideration of why this is being done. Cast lists are generally ordered by credit order. In the future explain why you are making changes and justify those changes with a good reason to make them. Also please edit while logged on to this account, I note similar edits with two different logged-out IPs.
Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:12, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Mad Max 2. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions.

Cast list ordered by editors opinion of importance (yours) is subjective. Cast should be listed in credit order which officially reflects creator's determination of importance and is controlling for cast lists.
Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:47, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add: Most cast lists are transcribed by editors watching the movie or TV series. A significant amount of work went into getting this information correct and in the proper order. Changing this undoes all that work. Finding places where mistakes were made and fixing them is much more helpful to the project. It appears you want to help the project and improve articles. I suggest some other activity than reordering cast lists. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:57, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You've been warned about this twice on Friday, and yet you've been continuing to do this over the last 24 hours. In short, do NOT reorder cast lists from the order from which they appear in the credits. If you continue doing this, you will surely be reported, and blocked for disruptive editing. Please stop reordering cast lists. Thank you. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:36, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

I noticed that you attempted to change the image at Alan Moore. There is an article at WP:Picture tutorial that goes into a lot of detail about how to work with images on Wikipedia. You may find that helpful. Geraldo Perez (talk) 14:40, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jean Shepard[edit]

Just to explain a bit. I removed the wikilink to Jean Shepard (actor) you created as we are supposed to avoid creating redlinks for people per WP:REDNOT. The link to Jean Shepard you fixed was obviously the wrong person for who was meant in the article Scarlet Diva but it is sufficient to fix that error by just removing the links if you are unable to find and pipe to the correct person article. A reminder - you should add edit histories explaining what you are doing and why when you edit. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:42, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for September 14[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rob Brown (actor), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Blindspot. Disambiguation link notification for September 21[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of teen films, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page 21 and Over. ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Hello, Patrick Barlane. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to join WP:RRTF[edit]

Hello, Patrick Barlane! I'd like to invite you to join the Rick Riordan Task Force (formerly the "Percy Jackson" Task Force) of WikiProject Novels. We work to improve articles related to Rick Riordan and his books. I see you have been making many technical edits to Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Even if the subject matter does not interest you, the task force could always use editors who do work like this. Please, check out our project page or contact me to learn more! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 02:28, 29 March 2017 (UTC) [reply]

Members in infoboxes[edit]

Hi Patrick
I have reverted your re-ordering of members in articles such as Pink Floyd. To explain my reason; Template:Infobox musical artist is very specific about this:-
Current members of the group, listed in order of joining with no other notation than names. For multiple members joining concurrently (such as the formation of the band), list them according to alphabetical order.
Past members of the group, listed in order of joining with no other notation than names. If a group is inactive, all members should be listed here, and none in the "current_members" field.
Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 10:23, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cast list edits[edit]

Please stop making very minor edits to cast lists. It's tedious to see 20 edits show up on my watchlist, then see it's just someone messing with the sorting and columns. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:21, 15 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is now a discussion regarding best practice for columns in Cast lists here. You are welcome to participate! DonIago (talk) 16:55, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Again, I am asking you to stop messing around with the sorting order of cast lists. This is getting disruptive. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:52, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

May 2017[edit]

Please stop making disruptive edits, as you did at Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. As you've received several notices about your changes to Cast sections of film articles and continue to make problematic edits, I am now forced to assume you are doing so willfully. I urge you to desist. DonIago (talk) 13:18, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

July 2017[edit]

Please stop making disruptive edits, as you did at Judge Dredd (film)‎.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. If you're going to make changes to Cast lists, please make the correct changes. I referred you to a discussion when it was occurring, and the consensus has been to use 25em. DonIago (talk) 16:53, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

August 2017[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia. Despite repeated messages, you are continuing to format Cast lists incorrectly. Please stop doing so. DonIago (talk) 16:48, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

September 2017[edit]

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Floquenbeam (talk) 22:04, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You've been getting messages disagreeing with your edits for months, and have ignored them. Wikipedia is a collaborative project, you cannot ignore other editors. As soon as you agree to stop editing cast lists until you've discussed the issue sufficiently with others to gain a consensus that what you are doing is correct, post an unblock request here, and an admin can unblock you. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:05, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
