Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Obscured by Clouds, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. The Snowager-is awake 15:59, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pink Floyd iii, you are invited to the Teahouse!

Hi Pink Floyd iii! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. Be our guest at the Teahouse! The Teahouse is a friendly space where new editors can ask questions about contributing to Wikipedia and get help from peers and experienced editors. I hope to see you there! Technical 13 (I'm a Teahouse host)

Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Hello, Pink Floyd iii. Welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions. My name is Howicus, and I've been an editor here for some time. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

If you're working on creating a new article, you should take a look at this page on your first article, and use the article wizard here to get started. Also, this page has instructions on how to cite sources, complete with videos.

If all this Wikicode is a little overwhelming, this cheatsheet may help untangle it.

If you're looking for a tutorial of sorts, The Wikipedia Adventure is a good option.

And if you need more help, I'd recommend getting live help at the Wikipedia help chat channel: click here to join. Additionally, you could ask me on my talk page, try the Teahouse (a help page for new users) or click here to ask for help here on your talk page and a volunteer will visit you here shortly

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Again, welcome, and have fun editing! Howicus (Did I mess up?) 14:09, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Howicus. I noticed that you made a change to an article, William Wallace, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Please stop adding unsourced content. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Materialscientist (talk) 21:53, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 00:47, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stop changing English to British

[edit]

By consensus long ago, it was decided to use the more specific descriptor "English". If this is an honest mistake, no problem. But if you continue this, you will get another block. Sundayclose (talk) 15:03, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your final warning. You may be blocked from editing without further notice the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to Queen (band). ~ RobTalk 19:30, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I'll stop Pink Floyd iii (talk) 19:36, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Except YOU DIDN'T STOP. You added instruments to infoboxes for Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr AGAINST CONSENSUS and immediately adjacent to the warning in each article "If you think an instrument should be listed, a discussion to reach consensus is needed first". You are quickly becoming a problem editor. Consider this your final warning. If there is something about consensus that you don't understand, ask here immediately and we will try to help you understand. Otherwise, the next time you make disruptive edits you will be blocked from editing. Sundayclose (talk) 02:29, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I am now asking for a consensus on the Paul McCartney talk page Pink Floyd iii (talk) 02:41, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Sundayclose: PFiii said he would stop editing genres into Queen (band). You're now shouting about a completely different matter. Please do not do so, but instead explain patiently what's bad - and good - about the edits concerned, remembering that you, too, were once a new editor. And no, we don't block editors for something done with good-faith, about which no-one has advised them. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:36, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@BU Rob13: It is contrary to Wikipedia policy to describe, as you have done here, good-faith edits as vandalism. Please do not do so again, and please familiarise yourself with the relevant policy, lest you be blocked for breaching it. Changing houses

[edit]

Hi. I've noticed that you've changed houses of some monarches, such as Edward IV of England. You've changed the house from a more specific house such as the House of York to the parent house (House of Plantagenet. Please do not generalize this information. The most specific house is the one we want, which is York in this case. ~ RobTalk 23:56, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

All right thank you Pink Floyd iii (talk) 00:02, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Paul McCartney. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. MarnetteD|Talk 23:45, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

[edit]

Hi,

You seem to have upset a few people with edits that are largely well-intentioned, but don't fit with the way things work on Wikipedia. I suggest you slow down, use talk pages more, and take up the offer, above, to visit the Teahouse. You'll find editing much more enjoyable, and your time better-spent, if you do.
