A beer for you!

[edit]
Nice work on the '1 (The Motors album)' article and I see that 'Approved By The Motors' is in the pipeline. Maybe you should consider completing the hat-trick and do 'Tenement Steps' also, which was notable for the title track single getting to No.17 in Holland. Anyway, from a Motors fan, many thanks. Please do go for the hat-trick!

[edit]

Great article on 'Approved By The Motors'! Good quotes and references and really like the template for the album track-listing. If you could manage 'Tenement Steps', as well, that would be great, as I'm still quite new to Wiki and it tends to take me ages to get an article done. I'm more than happy just to add little edits here and there :) Genspeak (talk) 21:48, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tenement Steps Pic

[edit]

Hi SethWales

That's great that you can manage Tenement Steps, as well. Nice idea to get an image that would capture the corners cut off. I do have a vinyl copy of the album but If I photograph it on a white table or any other colour surface it just looks like coloured corners on a regular-shaped square album. If you do a Google image search for 'Tenement Steps Motors' you'll see what I mean. Some of the images are square CD pics but even the vinyl ones with the cut off corners still look kind of square. This image was the best one I could find: http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/images/g/w08AAOSw~bFWIWEr/s-l225.jpg Don't know if that would be sufficient? --Genspeak (talk) 22:08, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Barry Railway/Wenvoe Tunnel

[edit]

Been looking a fair bit into this recently, that was the tunnel. I had absolutely no idea it existed, they've been talking recently about reopening it. It seems a line used to run from Barry along to the east of Wenvoe past Wrinstone and underneath what is now Culverhouse Cross. Check out this old map here. Barry Railway if it was called that should have a solid article, I reckon that one would be a fascinating one to research. Wenvoe Station The railway article is currently a redirect, don't know if you or Aymatth2, FruitMonkey, Sionk or somebody could piece together something on it. Presumably the railway joined the Cardiff-Bridgend railway line to the west of St Fagans railway station (also a missing article) near St Georges, Vale of Glamorgan.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:28, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Olympic medal tables

[edit]

Common practice on Olympic medal table articles is to not include bronzes until the whole event is complete. Even if I were to revert my own edit, someone else would revert my reversion because that's what consensus is. If you feel that should be changed, please discuss on the article's talk page where there is an ongoing discussion already. Thanks. Smartyllama (talk) 17:03, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I've started a new initiative, the Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. It's a long term goal to bring about 10,000 article improvements to the UK and Ireland. Through two contests involving just six or seven weeks of editing so far we've produced over 1500 improvements. Long term if we have more people chipping it and adding articles they've edited independently as well from all areas of the UK then reaching that target is all possible. I think it would be an amazing achievement to see 10,000 article improvements by editors chipping in. If you support this and think you might want to contribute towards this long term please sign up in the Contributors section. No obligations, just post work on anything you feel like whenever you want, though try to avoid basic stubs if possible as we're trying to reduce the overall stub count and improve general comprehension and quality. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:48, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Seth,
Thank you so much for all your wonderful help in providing photos for so many of the album covers related to Andy Irvine, be it his solo albums or his extensive list of collaborations. As you probably gathered, it took me a while to create all those articles, and I had long aspired to learn how to upload cover photos, so as to apply the icing on the cake, so to speak. Thanks to you, this is now done and I am most grateful to you for your diligent cooperation. Please keep well, Seth, and thank you for your contributions to our encyclopedia.

Dear Seth,
It's nice to 'meet' you, and thanks for the nice note you posted at my talk page! Without wishing to impose too much on your kindness, here are some more articles in the series of albums related to Irvine, for your consideration:

Please forgive me for asking so much of your goodwill, Seth, but if you have the time and inclination, I'd be most grateful to have these album-related articles completed with the relevant photo, thanks to your skillful participation in my effort. However, if it's not possible, then that's fine too and please don't worry about it. Thanks once again, Seth!

‪Marco Simone Golf and Country Club‬

[edit]

I saw your reversion of my edit to ‪Marco Simone Golf and Country Club (you reverted my Championship back to Campionship). Since I'm a spellchecker and you have a lot of WP experience, I have to ask - aren't we supposed to fix trivial spelling errors, even if they're in a source? It's Campionship in the source, twice, but that's an error. I wish I could quote WP chapter and verse, but can't find it. And if we wish to keep the error, which I didn't think was a good idea in this instance, shouldn't we add the "sic" template or some variation?

By the way, you have a great user page, and I note your final pillar.

Ira

Ira Leviton (talk) 20:01, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are right regarding my final pillar, I don't normally ever revert. I do revert due to vandalism or when there is an obvious typo. I only did it in this case because that was exactly the wording that was on the webpage (twice). However if you want to revert again...I have no problems with that, after all it is only a reference. Best wishes...SethWhales talk 21:26, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have decided simply to my own edit...no problems. SethWhales talk 21:40, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(by talk page watcher) Dear fellow editors;
The guideline you're looking for is at MOS:PMC. In this case, it seems to me you could either keep the original typo and add the {{sic}} template right after each occurrence of the typo, or simply fix it, because it is clear that the original author intended to write Championship as a translation of Campionato; as the guidelines states:
However, trivial spelling and typographic errors should simply be corrected without comment (for example, correct basicly to basically and harasssment to harassment), unless the slip is textually important.
I hope this helped, and that you won't mind I intervened.
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 21:07, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
