Pattycake
Two reasons I don't assess for importance: 1) the parameter is mostly deprecated by most projects for various reasons, including 2) the subjective and disputed nature of what constitutes importance and how that would require an expert to accurately assess. For the sake of accuracy, many projects have abandoned the parameter or have embraced the "core" article assessment as a replacement by depending on an outside criterion such as lists of topics by importance collated by experts in their respective fields. Since you were born in 1989, you may not be aware of the importance Patty Cake plays in the history of New York, particularly during the 1970s. Feel free to review the New Scientist article linked in the further reading section if you are interested. Viriditas (talk) 04:02, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- "Most projects" is a stretch. I know some of the larger projects don't use importance (such as BIO and some of the broader sports projects), but it's rare to see a project on a focused topic that doesn't use importance. As for this particular article, I wouldn't have touched it at all if it was tagged for WPNYC (and not WPNY) from the start. Furthermore, I really don't care about anything relating to downstate New York. (It's one reason why WPNYC is the only subproject of WPNY with unassessed articles.) You're more than welcome to seek further input about the article's assessment from WPNYC, but since it's no longer tagged for WPNY (per WP:WPNY/A) it's no longer my concern. – TMF (talk) 05:05, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Template:User WP New York
You cannot redirect a standard template without an adequate reason. Yours aye, Buaidh 02:55, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- Redundancy is certainly a valid reason. Furthermore, the preferred namespace for WikiProject userboxes is the Wikipedia (Project) namespace according to Wikipedia:Userboxes#Which namespace?. – TMF (talk) 08:50, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- A template redirect disables the passing of parameters, including nocat=true.
- Most geographic WikiProjects have multiple member templates to give members display options. The 388 "User WP" geographic WikiProject member templates exist in user space because they are associated with other geographic templates. While Wikipedia:WikiProject New York/Userbox is the preferred and recommended template for WikiProject members, a user may wish to pair similar templates instead. For example:
This user is proud to be a resident native citizen of the U.S. State of New York. |
This user participates in WikiProject New York State. |
- You are justly proud of your userbox template, which I've helped you edit over the years. I don't think it is desirable to deprive WikiProject members of options, though. Do you? Buaidh 15:39, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I still don't like the idea of two userbox templates with the same purpose, but if you're that adamant to keep the generic one around, then I'm not going to stop you as long as the WPNY-maintained one remains intact. – TMF (talk) 20:11, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- It's hardly a matter of life or death, but I think its preferable. We've certainly cooperated before. Buaidh 22:19, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- Not really sure what that's supposed to mean. If you're referring to these edits, they were stylistic changes that didn't affect the template at all save for a tweak to the image size (which is nothing to write home about). – TMF (talk) 21:37, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi. The page Daniel Squadron has a share of unproductive edit warring going on (I'm not involved, but have noticed it), and could probably use a sysop to take a look and figure out the best way to address it. Since you assessed the page, I thought I would reach out to you. Thanks.--Epeefleche (talk) 16:38, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

This may be an WP:ENGVAR, but in the US, "2011 Spring" looks weird. I've noticed that you've changed a number of year season to season year. Could you explain? — Arthur Rubin (talk) 03:30, 30 May 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Template:Ny browse with header
A tag has been placed on Template:Ny browse with header requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>
).
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page, where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Columbia County, New York
Columbia County, New York isn't covered in WP:NYCD? Judging by the map, that's kind of hard to believe? Also, I still have doubts as to whether Hudson and Boston Railroad should be covered by WP:MASS. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 19:33, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- It has long been the status quo to put Columbia County in WP:HUDSON. – TMF (talk) 19:35, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
NJ Route 133
Could you adjust the map to include the extension to the new NJ Turnpike/I-95 Exit 8? Famartin (talk) 17:58, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
- Have you tried asking someone from the USRD map task force to make this change? They would likely get to it long before I would as I've focused my Wiki efforts elsewhere. – TMF (talk) 20:48, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
- Nope, didn't even know such a "force" existed, but since you were the original map author, it seemed logical to ask you. How would I make this request? Theoretically I could do it myself... Famartin (talk) 21:09, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity
Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in more than one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e. as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised, that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions, and that you have not been inactive for a three-year period of time). If you remain inactive for a three-year period of time, including the present year you have been inactive, you will need to request reinstatement at WP:RFA. This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. Anachronistic NY state route markers
This may be a little bit out of your league... but I noticed that with a few of the 1960s New York State route marker pictures you made with SVG, you used the FHWA font (via Roadgeek 2005). Based on the pictures that are available of road signs from that era, the state actually used a different font: the lower left part of the 2 that connects to the bottom is straight vertical instead of diagonal, the 6s and 9s curl all the way more like Akzidenz-Grotesk, and the top circle on the 8 is closer to a circle instead of elliptical (plus, if my eyes don't deceive me, the numbers are a little closer together). It's not a huge deal, but when editing the NY 382 article and noticing that you had created a 1960s route shield for it (and since they started tearing that area up in the 1960s that was probably the last one they used on that road), I looked at it and noticed something about it just wasn't quite right! I don't even know if anyone has the "right" typeface encoded as a font yet. J. Myrle Fuller (talk) 16:00, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
