These are not awards, or barnstars. But these are some threads that I see as "mementos", or an event that should be kept in mind to learn from it. I have excluded most of the stuff handed out by vandals, socks, or SPA. Done upto Archive 7.
I am deleting your draft Draft:Eladio del Valle
[edit]Hello. I am Diannaa and I am an administrator on this wiki. I am deleting your draft Draft:Eladio del Valle, because it's not your own work, but a collection of material copypasted from other locations online. We're not allowed to reproduce or store copyright on this website, not even in sandboxes or drafts. I am sending you a copy of the material via email so you can continue working on it offline. Everything you add to this wiki needs to be written in your own words please. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:48, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Diannaa: I apologise. I thought drafts were not listed on search engines, or even in the search of wikipedia, which gave me an impression that users can store copyrighted content in the form of draft while they work on it. I apologise again. Will this issue reflect negatively on my record as a wikipedia user? And also, thank you for the email. I received it. usernamekiran (talk) 21:05, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
- Please don't worry, it was an honest mistake on your part that will not reflect negatively on your work or reputation here. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:07, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you mam. usernamekiran (talk) 21:09, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
The Earwitnesses
[edit]Good job pointing out the facts on the observations of the Dealey Plaza witnesses. Some Warren defenders try to claim that no credible witnesses said they heard shots from anywhere other than the SBD; clearly that's not the case. Six Seconds in Dallas is still one of the best books on the subject. Joegoodfriend (talk) 18:41, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for the compliment, and the suggestion as well. —usernamekiran (talk) 18:50, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
George Bush of CIA
[edit]@Joegoodfriend: I dont know much about it. When i was trying to know about it last night, i came across this affidavit of the "intended George Bush of CIA. What happened to that issue? I mean, what do people and media believe? Do they think the memo talks about other Bush and not about the GHW Bush? —usernamekiran (talk) 19:20, 10 March 2017 (UTC) —usernamekiran
- I know a fair amount about this. No one has ever figured out for sure whom the "George Bush" of that memo really was. George H. W. Bush's oil company was actively involved with anti-Castro efforts stemming from CIA activity, and some have speculated that he really was the George Bush of the memo and that he was more heavily involved with the CIA than the public has been led to believe. [1]
1960 FBI/Hoover memos
[edit]@Canada Jack and Joegoodfriend: Hi,
I tried a lot, but i cant find the the three memos from 1960 discussing possible imposter of Oswald. This article from Sacramento Bee, dated Feb 23, 1975, says there were three memos regarding this issue. I could find only one memo, that too not on reliable website. That memo is from Hoover, where he says Ossy's mother is concerned about Ossy's safety, cuz the letters she wrote to him were undelivered, and hence returned. Would you please search on the internet for the other two memos? Also, have you come across these memos before? I mean, do you know what is in these memos? Here is one more website but most of the content there is hocus-pocus (that idiom is similar to "tin foil hats", but not exactly). Btw, are you two friends? :-D —usernamekiran (talk) 14:11, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Canada Jack and Joegoodfriend: Hello?
- Kiran, relax my friend. Editing wikipedia is just not my highest priority. I will look into this more at some point. In the meantime, have a look at this new text regarding the alleged Oswald impersonator in Mexico City. CIA_Kennedy_assassination_conspiracy_theory#Second_Oswald_in_Mexico_City_Theory Joegoodfriend (talk) 20:23, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Canada Jack and Joegoodfriend: Hello?
@Joegoodfriend: how did you know my name Joe? lol
The edit is good. E only thing I could think of is, there is one sentence which needs time period ({{when}} template), at the 24 number.
- This evidence surfaced through the investigative work of independent journalist Anthony Summers.[24] Summers spoke with a man named Oscar Contraras, who met a man calling himself Lee Harvey Oswald in Mexico City in the fall of 1963.
—usernamekiran (talk) 20:43, 20 March 2017 (UTC)- Hi. I have added some text to make clearer the timeframe in which the witnesses gave their statements, and which statements were made before the HSCA and which were told to Summers. Joegoodfriend (talk) 21:44, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

UK Kennedy/Lincoln/Titanic IP
[edit]That last was one of the better examples of an IP that geolocates to UK mobile networks or school IPs in Sussex. They've focused on the Lincoln and Kennedy assassinations, along with Manfred von Richtofen, the Titanic, Alcatraz, various movies and conspiracy topics. They've been a pest for years. When I've communicated with them they've been generally decent, but they don't understand that their changes are often wrong, conspiratorial or just pointless, and that many editors have complained about them or reverted without knowing that it's a single problem user over the years. I generally block the IUPs on sight for a month. They pop up a couple of times a week. Acroterion (talk) 14:35, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Acroterion: yes, I was going to undo that edit, but wiki said it already has been done. When I tried to welcome that user with an "unconstructive content" warning (twinkle), I realised you had already blocked that user. —usernamekiran (talk) 14:44, 26 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Acroterion: Maybe these school kids have some myths and/or urban legends regarding these incidents. Pointing out similarities (between historical figures and friends) and stuff. Maybe that's why they have been "studying" these incidents. —usernamekiran (talk) 15:39, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

Why are you edit warring with a bot?
[edit]The editor is blocked. Also, you will never win in an edit war with a bot. --Floquenbeam (talk) 15:01, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Floquenbeam:I thought it was programmed to realise it needs to keep the post. I tried different methods, "undoing", restoring, manually reverting and so on. Then i posted the issue on an admins talkpage. The user which bot n you think is blocked two years ago, he vandalised an article just a few minutes ago.PS: This was my first experience, but edit war with a bot seems fun lol. :) —usernamekiran[talk] 15:12, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- That IP was blocked 20 minutes ago. For 2 years, just like the bot's edit summary said. The IP's last edit was 50 minutes ago. I guess the only problem with constantly reverting the bot (besides wasting your own time) is it increases the likelihood that other editors trying to report vandals will get an unnecessary edit conflict. --Floquenbeam (talk) 15:17, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Floquenbeam: I apologise for the confusion. I thought, the bot was saying the user was blocked two years ago. It has been all sorted out now. User_talk:Ritchie333#Vandalism_spotted Are you the bot's creator/care taker by the way? —usernamekiran[talk] 15:41, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- I could not create a bot if millions of lives depended on it. I've just been around them long enough to know that they can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop edit warring, ever. --Floquenbeam (talk) 15:46, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Floquenbeam: Then how did you find out I was at edit war with him? And did you copied that from some movie? Terminator maybe? —usernamekiran[talk] 15:49, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- I have AIV watchlisted, and noticed you and the bot kept reverting each other and putting AIV back on the top of the list. --Floquenbeam (talk) 15:51, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for your hard work reverting vandalism and reporting vandals - your work is appreciated and helps keep Wikipedia clean!
Keep up the great work -- There'sNoTime (to explain) 21:59, 17 May 2017 (UTC) |
- @There'sNoTime: Thanks! It means a lot coming from an experienced user (nothing to do with adminship). Ironically, I dont see myself as a "vandalism fighter", I am doing it for a change. Rollback granted
[edit]Hi Usernamekiran. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:50, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
- Adding onto my message above, I know that you had a recent hiccup regarding edits made against a bot... but I feel that everyone makes mistakes (I've sure as hell have made many) and should be given a chance to learn from them and move on if their intentions are clearly good. I highly advise you to be mindful and careful as you become affiliated with the permissions, use the rollback function only when you know for certain that the edit you're rolling back is vandalism, and hold off on using automated tools until you're used to the manual process. If you have questions or need my help, my talk page is always open to you. Good luck and happy editing -- make me proud! ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:00, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Oshwah: I will try my best to make you proud, and at the least certainly will not make you regret your decision. Also, I am not sure if you know my past, I was once reported to ANI for harassing an admin. Well, it was a misunderstanding, i mean i didnt harass nor had intentions to. But it was sort of long time ago. But other than that, my track record is fairly clear. :-) —usernamekiran(talk) 00:05, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- Don't worry about it. It's in the past and it's not something you can change. The best thing you could do for yourself and your growth and experience with Wikipedia is to be okay with making mistakes, don't beat yourself up over them, and to always look forward and to the future and how you'll learn and better yourself. I say this with utmost sincerity (most other admins and experienced editors will agree): An editor who makes occasional mistakes, but take feedback well and is excellent with collaborating with others, learns from them and doesn't repeat them, and takes each mistake as a learning opportunity... will be seen as much more experienced and favorable than an editor who never ever makes a single mistake but lacks the temperament to collaborate with others and grow with the project. Good luck, and please keep in touch with me. I'd like to see how you're doing and help make sure you're staying on track. You have amazing potential, and I want to help you reach them. Cheers -- ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:24, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Oshwah: thanks a lot for the faith. It means a lot to me. And thanks for the encouragement too. Yes, i will surely keep in touch. :-) —usernamekiran(talk) 00:32, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Kiran. Thank you for your report. Since we're supposed to take anything of that nature seriously, I have e-mailed Emergency, and they're looking into it. I then went to revdel the threat and block the user, but another admin had got there before me. To make doubly sure, I have also revdel'd your report, but that doesn't mean we didn't appreciate it! For another time, though, if you see something like that, you might as well e-mail Emergency directly (as well as contact admins, but avoid high-traffic boards like ANI). See WP:EMERGENCY for details. Bishonen | talk 21:38, 20 May 2017 (UTC).
- @Bishonen: Thanks a lot! I was not sure what to do. I considered it as a threat but did not know what to do. So I decided respond to the edit pretending everything was normal, and contact an admin. I didnt know who would be online at the given moment, so I checked AIV first, but nobody seemed to be online. Thanks again for the consideration, and for handling it discreetly. —usernamekiran(talk) 21:47, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- Well, I know it's a little paradoxical that we're told to contact admins but avoid the admin boards! If you're on IRC, that's probably ideal, once you've alerted Emergency. If not, you can e-mail the oversight team at oversight-en-wp@wikipedia.org. But also, speaking as an amateur, it seems to me UAA was a pretty good choice: it's well-watched without being exactly high-traffic. Anyway, clever of you to catch it. Bishonen | talk 22:03, 20 May 2017 (UTC).
@Bishonen: lol, yes. I also thought about emailing an admin. But again, wasnt sure if he/she would have checked it. So the UAA seemed to be better choice. I mean, i knew a lot of persons wouldnt be watching it like AfD or {{tps}}, but I was sure it will catch attention of an admin.
See you around. :-) —usernamekiran(talk) 22:14, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

- @Yamla: I am not getting notification upon pinging you, maybe you've turned hem off in settings. —usernamekiran(talk) 16:09, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
Right. The problem here is that you appear to be using an open proxy, or perhaps a VPN. If you are sure you are not doing this (not using a proxy, not using a VPN, not using a 'cloud-based' browser), what you need to do is craft a new unblock request and tell us your IP address. You can use WhatIsMyIP to find this. If you don't wish to provide this information publicly, you may use WP:UTRS instead. Of course, if you are using a proxy or a VPN, that's the reason for the block. But it sounds like you aren't, at least not deliberately. --Yamla (talk) 16:17, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Yamla: hmm. The problem is, my ISP provides dynamic IP. That is, whenever the connection is restarted for any reason, I get a different address. Unless the modem reboots very fast and the previous IP hasn't been allotted to another user. That happens extremely rarely though. And no on the VPN. At least, as far as I know. Currently I am using a BlackBerry device (right now), and I also use an ipad mini. All my computers are down since last 3-4 months. My IP is: 59.95.186.90 —usernamekiran(talk) 16:25, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- That particular IP address is not currently blocked. Are you still unable to edit from that address? WP:IPBE may be an option in this case, too, though that would normally only be considered if you keep on hitting blocks for a prolonged period. --Yamla (talk) 16:28, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Yamla: Yes, I was unable. But then I restarted my modem. Currenly, my IP is 59.94.3.93 Now I'm not blocked. Thanks a lot for your co-operation :-) —usernamekiran(talk) 16:45, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

- @Bbb23: I really want to say "it isnt me", but it doesnt work. So I have sent you an email. Kindly read it. —usernamekiran(talk) 17:45, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- You don't need me to reply to forward me the e-mail you refer to.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:50, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Bbb23: How can I forward the email then? —usernamekiran(talk) 17:53, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- Copy and paste it into a new Wikipedia e-mail.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:00, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- Got it (them), thanks. I won't be able to review it, though, until later today.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:15, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Bbb23: No problem, please take your time. I could use a little break for a day or two too. Also, kindly read all the emails before making any edits. Thanks a lot for the co-operation. :) —usernamekiran(talk) 18:25, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- Everything you requested has been done. If I forgot something, please let me know. I'd like to explain to you my perspective on what's happened, but I don't normally e-mail people and don't feel comfortable doing it publicly. Take care, and I'm sorry you had to go through this. I sincerely appreciate your civility throughout.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:36, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Bbb23: I would love to know your thoughts! I had a doubt about you not replying to your emails (I seldom saw you replying to others on talkpages). Also, that reminds me, I will soon send another email to you. :D
And about that civility thing, it takes two to tango; so half the credit goes to you. And thanks again for everything :) —usernamekiran(talk) 07:13, 14 February 2018 (UTC)- Another e-mail? Goody. --Bbb23 (talk) 14:20, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- Sent. I will archive this thread shortly. —usernamekiran(talk) 18:12, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

I think you mean "archive". Thanks very much for the kind words. As for what I didn't do, it was intentional. I'm uncomfortable doing it because I don't get the connection between your goal and the edits themselves. If you're unhappy with that, I think the best thing to do would be to write to the WP:FUNCTIONARY e-mail list and present your case there. Unlike me, many of the functionaries are willing to e-mail users directly, which would allow you to flesh it out more. Plus you'd get more of a consensus than just the individual opinion of one.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:03, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Bbb23: now that I think of it, I think I should let it go as it has been going on. and , I meant "archive" lol. See you around :) —usernamekiran(talk) 19:41, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
