Draft:Hellenic Electronic Center
I, Thanos7v, request the undeletion of this Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13. Please restore the page as I intend to work on it. Thanos7v (talk) 14:53, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Thanos7v: Declined pending further information. This was undeleted over six months ago with a pledge that it would be worked on, but no edits were made to improve the entry for resubmission. Articles for creation is not an indefinite hosting service for material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia's article mainspace. We may be willing to restore it again, but only if you provide a definite assurance that you actually intend to work on it and provide a short description of what you intend to do to improve it to meet our policies and guidelines. Please advise. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:02, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

XLispStat
Expired PROD, reason given was lack of references, but I have found numerous references in Google Books:
- Detailed summary of this package in a guide to statistical tools for astronomers.[1]
- Assertion that this package was historically influential in the field of statistical visualization.[2]
- The author of the package wrote a book about it, published in 1990–while that is not strictly speaker an independent source (unlike the other sources I cite), it was published by a respected publisher (John Wiley & Sons)[3]
- This reference discusses its use in GIS[4].
- Used in speech acoustics research[5]
- Book on econometrics which extensively discusses use of xlispstat to perform econometrical calculations[6]
- Describes statistical software known as "CoCo" for contingency tables which extends xlispstat[7]
- Book on regression analysis which includes a regression analysis software package written in xlispstat[8]
- Also has seen use in epidemiology[9]
This software has been widely used in statistics, hence there are many references to it in published literature. It is far less popular than it used to be, since it dates to the late 1980s/early 1990s and probably saw its greatest popularity in the early-to-mid 1990s with greatly declining usage since. There is a paper explaining why UCLA's Department of Statistics abandoned it in 1998,[10] and their reasons probably hold true for many other of its former users. Anyway, I think this is clearly notable as a formerly widely used piece of freely available statistical software which is the subject of mutliple published works, forms an important part of the history of statistical software, and should be restored on that basis. —SJK (talk) 07:23, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

I would appreciate it if it is sent back as a draft or to my email to allow further clarification on the article if the said article can not be restored. Thanks —Rexchuqa (talk) 18:01, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Rexchuqa: Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Young Stunna, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review.--

Jay Towers
I work with Jay at his radio and tv station as his assistant. This page was created to have a bio on him and link from his radio station and television station pages where he is already listed as an employee. This is not a promotion of him, rather a link to his bio since his name is already mentioned in many articles. —Jonklaft (talk) 18:44, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
- Not done – this page was deleted as a blatant advertisement under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion and Wikipedia is not to be used as a vehicle for promotion. This does not necessarily mean a suitable article on this topic cannot be created. If it is a notable topic, e.g., multiple reliable, secondary, published sources that are entirely independent of the subject have written about it in substantive detail (not just mere mentions), then a neutrally written article may be possible. This one was written like a commercial. It was also at least partly a copyright violation, which would itself be enough to decline this request. I suggest you read our rules regarding conflicts of interest before attempting to make edits about your colleagues. Hut 8.5 19:01, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

- Not done. Hi Ykashgari. I assume this is about your userpage, User:Ykashgari which was deleted under CSD U5—for pages in userspace consisting of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. This page was properly deleted. Wikipedia is not a forum for self-promotion. It is not a place like LinkedIn, Facebook or other social media sites, but is an encyclopedia. Your userpage may contain some limited material about yourself, but its purpose is chiefly for describing Wikipedia related matters. See What may I not have in my user pages? As to having an article on you (i.e., an encyclopedia article in the article mainspace), after looking at your deleted userpage, I do not believe that is possible. I believe you (just like me and the vast majority of people on the Earth), are not notable, as we use that word here to mean the subject of substantive discussion in reliable, secondary and independent sources. - @Cmemart26: See my edits on your talk page regarding copyright. In short, the draft I have restored is the later one, created by Artlover118 on August 30, 2016, and not the one you created on September 17, 2014. That earlier one by you contained blatant, copy-and-paste, copyright violations and plagiarism of the artist's biography at her website. It might or might not have contained copyrighted content from elsewhere; I have not looked since its academic as deleted and not restored. But, you must not do that again and you need to be aware that if you do, now that you've been told about this, not only will those edits be removed, but that will subject you to a block from further editing. - Not done. This page is not deleted it is redirected. Deletion is a technical term, meaning the page, with its page history has been removed, in a manner that only adminstrators and other with higher permissions can undo. The redirection of a page is not a deletion. Anyway, your comments above show you have not read and understood Wikipedia's core requirements for good edits, e.g., that verifiability of our content, through citations to reliable sources, is the lifeblood of good Wikipedia edits and content. The logic underlying your comment falls under WP:WAX – yes, bad edits abound; yes, there are lots of poor articles that need editing to bring them into line or need to be deleted. That is not a validation for making more bad edits or creating deletion fodder. In sum, I agree with Justlettersandnumbers' redirection, and hope you will to try to learn why.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:54, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- Tom1819, I've made that page into redirect twice. The first time was because of copyright violations, the second time because the content you added was without any references at all. The two are not connected. And yes, I do constantly request citations for information. If you find unsourced information in other pages you can do the same, or simply remove the material. Jeff Ansell
We noticed that Juliancolton deleted the Jeff Ansell page. Janny64 is another user, so that reason is speculation and not fact. Here’s an additional source that has been published for further background on Jeff Ansell: Rock 'n' Radio: When Djs And Rock Music Ruled The Airwaves https://www.chapters.indigo.ca/en-ca/books/rock-n-radio-when-djs/9781550654691-item.html —Jaa.office (talk) 15:10, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
- Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jeff Ansell, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 18:15, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- I don't understand the reasoning in your message above. The page was deleted because there was little evidence of substantive coverage in the reliable, secondary and independent sources that are needed to demonstrate notability—not because of who edited it. The nomination by Bearcat (not the deletion basis by Juliancolton), mentioned as a seeming side note, that the user name of the user who created it gave an implication of there being a conflict of interest, but that was not the basis for the deletion, or certainly not its crux. Meanwhile, the link you place above adds nothing whatever to address the actual bases. This link is to a bookseller's site, with the blurb being a quotation from the book itself. It adds nothing to evidence notability. Meanwhile, the content of the deleted page was essentially a promotional résumé belonging on LinkedIn maybe, but not Wikipedia. Promotional pages like this are always added by insiders; there is no reason why any independent person, here with a proper aim to expand the encyclopedia on a topic of knowledge, would ever decide on a topic like this and attempt to write an article.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 18:33, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
- Indeed, just to clarify, the possible conflict of interest that the username Janny64 might have represented was not the crux of the reasons why the article was listed for deletion — it was merely mentioned as an aside, while the core of the deletion argument was the fact that the article was not citing any reliable source coverage to demonstrate that Ansell passed any of our notability criteria. A writer does not get an automatic inclusion freebie on Wikipedia just because his book or books exist — the way to demonstrate that he passes WP:AUTHOR for writing books is to show that real media (the kind with actual editorial standards, such as newspapers and magazines and literary journals) have published content about him and/or his writing (e.g. book reviews). Simply showing that his book has a profile on Amazon or Goodreads is not evidence of notability in and of itself, because every book that exists at all has a profile on one or both of those sites. - Hi Thetruthtoo. You are being caught by an edit filter. It's not a human but an automated program (in other words a dumb bot). They actually are pretty good at identifying and keeping out vandalism. In this case though it's a false-positive to your detriment. It has something to do with the edit you're trying to add having curses in it and in all caps, Like "FUCKED, LET'S ROCK COMPILATION". The first thing you should try is not using all caps – which is wrong anyway, the album title's should not be in all caps, and should be italicized btw – place doubled apostrophes around the titles). If that doesn't work, try leaving out the one with curses, and then added it in later, in a single edit. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 13:02, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

Hello,
I worked with a freelancer to create a Wikipedia page for Bonin Bough. The Wikipedia page was already up until user Fastily deleted it. User Smartse then restored it to draft mode. (See below).
I've reached out to both administrators to find out why they felt the page needed to be deleted. Bonin is one of the most well-known marketing executives in the world and just had a TV show on CNBC with LeBron James about revitalizing neighborhoods in Cleveland and they are planning to do a second season.
Would appreciate any help with letting me know why the page was deleted.
Thank you,
Sofia

- @Sofiapoyhonen: You haven't asked either myself or User:Fastily about this. The reason it was deleted was because the freelancer you were working with (User:Janweh64) requested that it be deleted, first at Bonin Bough [3] and then again at Draft:Bonin Bough [4]. The draft has already been undeleted per the request further up the page that was made 3 days ago. Please see the comments that other users have made at Draft:Bonin Bough regarding why they don't think the article is suitable for inclusion. SmartSE (talk) 20:15, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

A new information has come to light since a deletion that would justify recreating the deleted page (undeleting the page with the following addition of new information). —Parviziskender (talk) 15:49, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- Not done this page was deleted as the result of an AfD discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Parviz Iskenderov) so it isn't eligible for restoration though this process. You can contact the admin who closed the discussion (User:BigDom) or go to Wikipedia:Deletion review. There is nothing preventing you from writing a new article at this title as long as it addresses the reasons that led to the other one being deleted. Hut 8.5 20:29, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
Someone has already placed a request on the talk page of BigDom. It is though also appears in a speedy deletion done on 2 September 2008 by Maxim?
- The prior speedy deletion was as a copyright violation, we're not going to restore that because you think something has changed. If the deleting admin doesn't respond or declines you'll need to go to deletion review. Rewriting it is likely a better option, if things have really changed then you'd have to make plenty of changes anyway. Hut 8.5 18:00, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

I fully understand the need for G5 deletion of this page; it's just a shame because the article just went through AfD and another editor and I put some work into finding enough sources for a keep consensus and I had already begun incorporating them into the entry, only some of which are listed in the AfD discussion itself. Might it be possible to userify this to me so I can have those refs? I'll re-write the prose of the entry from scratch before re-publishing. Thanks for considering. —Innisfree987 (talk) 18:45, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

- Candidly I was hoping for the source version with refs already properly formatted so I didn't have to do that all over again! Is it any better to email it to me instead of userify? I understand if it's just a no-go though. Innisfree987 (talk) 02:54, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

- I've undeleted. Pages that have survived AFD may not be speedy deleted (unless they're found to be copyvios) aside from housekeeping-type reasons such as G6 or F8; the WP:CSD policy doesn't allow a G5 speedy here. Nyttend (talk) 11:40, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
