Disambiguation link notification for July 13[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited James McCaffrey, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Blue Bloods (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please note that I have reverted your edits to James McCaffrey as you did not include reliable sources to allow for verification of the personal information in accordance with BLP policy. Please ensure you include your sources when adding such information to biography articles. Thank you, --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 17:32, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Worcester Fire Department has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fire Department fails WP:MILL

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue[edit]

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for working to improve the site with your edit to North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue, as we really appreciate your participation. However, the edit had to be reverted, because Wikipedia cannot accept unsourced material or original research. This includes material lacking cited sources, material obtained through personal knowledge, or which constitutes the an analysis or interpretation by the editor that is not found in cited sources. Wikipedia requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the article text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here.

Also, only the first word and proper nouns are capitalized in headings, as indicated by WP:SECTIONHEAD.

If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. :-) Nightscream (talk) 02:34, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sources?[edit]

Hello! Glad to see you're so interested in updating Wikipedia's articles as they relate to fire stations. However, from where are you sourcing this information, such as the info changed in this edit? It would be very helpful (in fact, proper) to include the source of your information as references (see WP:CITE). It would also be helpful to other editors if you were to use edit summaries for your submissions (see WP:EDSUM). Thank you for your consideration regarding these issues and happy editing!!    DKqwerty    16:45, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Adding fire department info to top level city articles[edit]

Your additions, while adding good information, are simply too detailed for top level city articles which are supposed to be a summary of a city's history, geography, demographics, culture, and any unique features. --NeilN talk to me 03:49, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting of content in Bayonne, New Jersey article[edit]

Your recent edits to the article for Bayonne, New Jersey reinserted material that does not conform with the Wikipedia Manual of Style. This standard specifies such things as spelling out in words numbers from one to nine, only capitalizing proper nouns, leaving a space before parentheses, among other things that have been repeatedly undone in your edits. I'm not sure why you've been doing this and I hope that I can gain a better understanding of why you have repeatedly made these changes, which have been reverted again. Formatting issues with fire department details[edit]

Your latest edits to the article for Cherry Hill, New Jersey reformatted material that does not conform with the Wikipedia Manual of Style. This standard specifies such things as spelling out in words numbers from one to nine, only capitalizing proper nouns, leaving a space before parentheses, among other things that have been repeatedly undone in your edits. Section titles only have the initial word capitalized (other than proper nouns), so it should always be "Fire station locations and apparatus" (not "Fire Station Locations and Apparatus"). Please realize that you have never replied to a single one of the comments left on this talk page. I'm not sure why you aren't responding why you've been repeating these changes. I hope that I and other editors can gain a better understanding of why you have repeatedly made these changes that don't comply with policy, which have been reverted again. Wikipedia style[edit]

Hey FDNY18, I've looked over some of your recent edits and see that you are really contributing a lot of good information about fire departments to the encyclopedia. It's clear that you want to make Wikipedia better. Wikipedia has a standard style for how articles are written and I want to point out a few things so your contributions will be more valuable:

  • Section headings and table headings should be capitalized in sentence case.
  • There should be a blank line above section headings.
  • Personal titles are only capitalized when used as part of a name.
  • Proper nouns like the names of specific units, divisions, etc. are capitalized, but the type of unit, division, etc. is not capitalized.
  • Numbers as numbers less than ten are spelled out in running text.

If you have any questions about any of these or anything else, I'd be happy to answer. If you like I can link you to the specific places in the Wikipedia Manual of Style where these rules are spelled out. Keep up the good work. SchreiberBike talk 21:33, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. I see you've done some edits since I posted above. Wikipedia is a collaborative process of millions of editors with different interests and different skills; together we are making something great. It happens by working together collaboratively. Do you see some reason why articles relating to firefighting should not follow the style used in the rest of Wikipedia? Please respond. SchreiberBike talk 16:10, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sources, again[edit]

Your addition of personal information to James McCaffrey is just as unsourced as the last time you added it and were reverted. Stop adding unsourced information to articles, as you did with these edits to Hoboken, New Jersey. Wikipedia requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the article text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here. If you continue to add uncited information to articles, you risk being blocked from editing. Please do not make that necessary. Nightscream (talk) 20:40, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FDNY Question[edit]

Hi, I see on the 2014 Apparatus Profile that you list FDNY has having 204 Engines and 142 Ladder Trucks. Is this correct? According to the FDNY website there are 198 Engines and 143 Ladder Trucks. Thanks, tom991

My mistake, you are correct. There are 198 Engine Companies and 143 Ladder Companies. I added up the total from the list of fire companies on the Organization of the New York City Fire Department page, and there was a duplicate Battalion which accounted for 6 duplicate Engine Companies. I removed that duplicate Battalion. There are 41 Engine Companies on Manhattan, 30 Engine Companies in the Bronx, 18 Engine Companies on Staten Island, 61 Engine Companies in Brooklyn, and 48 Engine Companies in Queens. This does not include the 7 Squad Companies located throughout the city, which were formerly Engine Companies prior to 1998. Of those 143 Ladder Companies, there are 32 Ladders on Manhattan, 27 Ladders in the Bronx, 12 Ladders on Staten Island, 39 Ladders in Brooklyn, and 33 Ladders in Brooklyn. Sorry about that, thanks,FDNY18 (talk) 17:05, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Volunteer fire companies in NYC[edit]

Hi, I have a question is there nine or ten volunteer fire companies remaining in New York City? The website fdnyfiretrucks.com lists it as nine since one disbanded in 2011 however now it seems that the Metropolitan Fire Association was added. Are they a volunteer fire company? Thanks, tom991

Hi tom991,

There are nine volunteer fire departments that remain in NYC, in all boroughs save Manhattan. The Metropolitan Fire Assoc. is not a volunteer fire company/department, rather it is a junior firefighter explorer post and disaster relief organization. To the best of my knowledge, they do not respond to emergency calls as do some other volunteer departments, i.e. Richmond Vol. Fire Dept., also on Staten Island. As per their website:

"Metropolitan Fire Association, Inc. is a community based disaster relief organization that helps the Staten Island community during emergencies. Metropolitan Fire Association, Inc. also sponsors an Explorer Post, through the Boy Scouts or America, that teaches young adults about the emergency service professions.

The Explorers Program accepts male and female members between the ages of 13 1/2 through 18 years of age and adults 18 years old or older. Some of the events the Explorers train in are fundamentals of firefighting, law, CPR, first-aid, and emergency preparedness. They also participate in musters, parades, and special events in addition to preparing for civil service exams. All events and training are supervised by adults who work in various emergency service fields." FDNY18 (talk) 00:39, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Chicago Fire Department[edit]

Hi FDNY18, I have a question on the page for the organization of the Chicago Fire Department the Ambulances are still listed as being both ALS and BLS. However since all Ambulances are now upgraded to ALS I was thinking that we should do the same as well on the page so that it is up to date. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Tom aka Tom991

infobox fire department[edit]

THe above named teplate is not appropriate to use on settlement articles. It is only intended for articles on notable fire departments, which are few and far between. Your addition of detailed listings of equipment and personel on settlement articles is equally inappropriate. Your continued reinsertion of such information on settlement articles such as Gary, Indiana is obstructive. If content you added to an article is removed the only appropriate course of action is to start a discussion on the article talk page. Continued editing such as I have described can lead to you being blocked.

January 2015[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to New Rochelle Fire Department, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You are copying and pasting copyrighted material from the New Rochelle website. Even if you paraphased the information (which you did not), the source was still not be acceptable. GeorgeLouis (talk) 20:58, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violations. Please read this[edit]

Hi FDNY18. You have gotten many notices and I see you don't respond often but I hope you read them. If you read no other, read this one.

I have just removed your blatant copyright violations from ‪Hoboken Fire Department‬, ‪New Rochelle Fire Department‬, Worcester Fire Department, Bridgeport Fire Department, Hartford Fire Department and Newark Fire Department (some of which were posted under your prior account User:Fdnyguy18), and I have not finished searching your contributions.

You may not copy and paste non-free copyrighted text anywhere on Wikipedia like this. If you do so at all again, you will be subject to an immediate block from further editing. Consider this a final warning. I do not know if you understood the basics of copyright before you made these edits, so I don't know your intent, but copyright violations are very serious—much worse at base than everyday vandalism—which is why this is presented as a final warning even though it appears that you have not been warned before about copyright issues (except directly above about one of the same articles). Thank you--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:35, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please reply[edit]

Over a year ago I posted here with concerns about the level of detail you were adding to top-level city articles. [1] You're still doing it so can you please reply? --NeilN talk to me 20:57, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Dallas Fire Department[edit]

Hello FDNY18. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Dallas Fire Department".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Dallas Fire Department}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 12:00, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Organization of the Los Angeles Fire Department[edit]

The article Organization of the Los Angeles Fire Department has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This page is full of unsourced material and is basically just duplicated from the Los Angeles Fire Department page. There is no reason for it.

A belated welcome![edit]

Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, FDNY18. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Fire Department Pages[edit]

Hello! You seem to know a lot about fire departments in the North East and I see you are attempting to make contributions which is awesome! Unfortunately I have had to revert a number of your edits for various reasons. Most were unsourced and did not contain any edit summary. Rather than me just leaving you a bunch of messages saying you were doing it wrong I would like to actually help. Please either leave me a message on my talk page or use {{ping|zackmann08}} in a response below and let me work with you to make some of the changes and show you how to make sure they are sourced and contain an edit summary. Thanks and hope you have a great day! --Zackmann08 (talk) 21:45, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
